Saidit keeps getting nonsense frontpage generalizations about liberals so I thought I'd help balance it out with some Conservative Paradise by EndlessSunflowers in conspiracy

Conservatives are nazis?

I don't think this is a fair characterization of conservatism and just feeds the into the right vs left paradigm of divide and conquer.

I think the majority of users here agree we don't want hitler memes spread across the front page every day.

With the site as it is, it is being dealt with by removal of the user and their content.

Someone spams porn or whatever, we don't want to leave it up to make sure it was justified. I understand your idea for making it a NSFW type thing, but I don't think that works when you're dealing with actions that are intended to undermine the site.

The way I see it is that Saidit is like a house that magnora and d3rr built. We here that use the site are their guests. It has been them that have taken responsibility for the site and it's maintenance including making the site resistant to technological attacks and the removal of crap content and users. Without the creation and maintenance of this site, this community would not exist.

I keep coming back here because it's not a clusterfuck like big social media sites and there are people here (including yourself), that have open minds and post content that I find intriguing and might not see somewhere else.

I don't agree with every decision magnora has made over the last few years, but I believe it was his decision to make. I think this site has not devolved into a reddit or a voat thanks to his efforts. I have stated some of my reservations to him, and I think you've made yours. Ultimately, just because you feel passionate about an issue, doesn't make it right or wrong, nor does it mean magnora has to take action on it.

I agree with Node that maybe taking a step back would be a good thing for you both.

:)

I think for Saidit to not end up where Reddit and Voat have, some boundaries have to be drawn. In addition to the debate pyramid, pornography is one of those boundaries set by the developers (who have not been profit driven) to help set the tone of discourse.

I support not having porn on Saidit.

Not sorry to see that sub go.

IMO, IP2 was contrary to the Pyramid of Debate as the main emphasis of IP2 was to degrade and demean others. Outside of the debate structure itself, what is the Pyramid of Debate for other than to help the individual to question and to learn? To help enlighten the individual, not beat them down. There's a difference between conveying information saying some people treat others like shit and saying you the fellow saiditor are shit. It's not an act in good faith. To me, acting in good faith is being able to accept another's point of view whether you agree or not. But if your point of view is fuck everybody, or fuck this group or that group, I don't think it's conducive to the enlightenment of others. It only lends itself to ill will. Now, I think it's fair to say I see this group as doing such and such and I disagree with it, but to say fuck that group just because is just prejudice and akin to Name Calling.

As I see it, if your main point is just to degrade or demean others, you really have no point at all.

Literally Thousands of Doctors and Scientists Have Come Out Against Fauci’s Lockdowns Including a Nobel Prize-Winning Biophysicist. The Media Just Doesn’t Want You to Know by Trump_WG1WGA in news

[–]fred_red_beans 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Full article:

https://www.redstate.com/michael_thau/2020/07/13/many-medical-experts-were-against-lockdowns-the-media-just-didnt-want-us-know/

S. E Cupp, Pete Buttigieg, and all the others who defend Fauci by chanting “follow the science” don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. Nothing could be less scientific than blindly following the word of some alleged authority and trying to bully everyone else into doing so by mindlessly regurgitating some idiotic catchphrase. Science is about believing things for a reason, not because some media-anointed expert insists on them.

New England Journal of Medicine in an article authored by Dr. Fauci himself:

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejme2002387

If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.

As Sheila Jeffreys, the feminist academic, has warned, “...the transgendering of children now is simply a form of eugenics,” which shares similarities with the forced sterilisation of homosexuals, criminals, the disabled, and people with mental health problems in the early 20th century.

Author of the article is a transgender woman who wore a T-shirt proclaiming that she's still biologically a man and was accused of 'hate speech'

But eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind

Agreed. This is why I believe it's better to debate specific ideas or topics rather than argue broad generalizations. People are always going to have differences in opinion, knowledge, and perception. I think by listening to another's point of view and attempting to understand, one can at least accept and perhaps find some commonalities. By making broad generalizations and characterizations it makes it harder to learn from and communicate with each other.
