Michelle Obama: Former US first lady says she has 'low-grade depression'. Is she mildly depressed in the $8 million dollar place in DC or the $12 million dollar place in Martha's Vineyard? by Chipit in NotTheOnion

Your view of human nature is overly simplistic. Sure, you could say that a significant portion of people base their opinions purely on emotion, but not everyone. I certainly don’t belong in that bucket of emotional/tribalist thinkers. But it appears that you do, because you’ve demonstrated that you are passionately in the ‘commoner’ tribe and vehemently against the ‘rich’ tribe.

We’re talking past each other. You’re so keen on asserting that the way you view the world, and view a complete stranger like myself, is fact, rather than engaging in a discussion.

Duh, how else do you think AIDS started?

Jk, it likely happened because of eating chimps, not fucking them.

Lol, she’s not in my ‘tribe’. I’m not a fan of hers, I don’t follow her at all, but I also don’t hate her.

Generally speaking, I don’t need to be passionate about someone or something to stand up against words or actions I feel are disrespectful or unlawful.

All of my arguments are sound ones, and used on any other member of the 1% you'd be applauding.

Again, you make great assumptions. My view of the world, regardless of the group, is much more nuanced than that. I think you’re projecting, given your tendencies to generalize and jump to conclusions.

If the current 1% all dropped dead, a new 1% would form in its place. The problem as I see it is not that there are powerful people, but that regular people don’t have enough of a voice. It’s a complex problem that requires more of a complex solution that ‘kill the rich and powerful’. One of many improvements could be having stronger local government and more community involvement there. Think of the last time you felt, if ever, involved in the politics of your town. It’s important, and nonexistent in most people’s lives.

I don’t think that pointing out that you’ve said very mean things is particularly an attack on you. Nevertheless, I apologize. I’m also not particularly ‘defending the powerful’. I’m simply defending the idea that we shouldn’t hate someone just because they’re powerful. I choose to dislike people based on their actions (or inactions).

Who said she’s seeking sympathy? You’re making great assumptions here. She expressed on her own personal podcast that she’s depressed due to the state of the world. We’re all going through the same thing. Anyone of any background who cares about what’s going on right now is feeling the same thing. Is she not allowed to publicly say anything personal ever, just because she’s rich and powerful?

Don’t be mad at her for being privileged, powerful, and having showed a glimpse of human quality on her podcast. She’s leveling with people and connecting with her audience. If you listen to the clip of the podcast yourself, it’s clear she’s not asking for sympathy, but describing a difficult reality that everyone can relate to right now.

Instead, be annoyed at the media for wasting the world’s time with yet another junk food story, and painting this in a way that made you react in such a heartless manner. Please take pause. React less, research more.

BREAKING: Dr. Fauci received money from Bill Gates to do mandatory global vaccine research... But not only that, he was put on the leadership council of the project by NewsJunkie in politics

I am extremely confused by the number of people I’ve seen say that Bill Gates and Fauci can’t be trusted.

Can someone please explain the reasoning? Can you also tell me how familiar you are with the character of both Bill and Melinda Gates? And Fauci?

It appears to me that simply because Bill is a Bill(ionare), (sorry), people don’t trust him. Which is not in any way a valid reason to assume someone is ill-intentioned.

Hillary Clinton's benzo addiction got memory holed by useless_aether in DownTheMemoryHole

Late here obviously, but can you explain what evidences were memory holed? Super curious about this.

I had suspicions that she was suffering from Parkinson’s and trying to hide it. There’s a great video on this theory here. I’m not super familiar with this guy’s other commentary and reputability outside of this video, but recall this video being very well researched. https://youtu.be/Zr1IDQ2V1eM

Maybe there’s an argument for benzo withdrawal, but (as may be expected) I’m having trouble finding sources and discussions. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/clintons-secret-service-agent-holds-diazepam-pen/

While I agree with your criticism of this anti-vax article, I do not agree with the way in which you’ve disagreed. For every belief/opinion you hold, no matter how obvious the credibility of this belief seems to you and others, there are people who hold an opposite belief with equal conviction that it’s correct. Imagine if an anti-vaxxer replied to you this way, without any concrete explanation or source for why you’re wrong.

If you want to change someone’s mind, you need to have patience, understanding, and present sources. Baseless aggressive criticism and shaming are what’s wrong with social media today. Please help fight divisiveness.

It’s unfortunate that petty vandalism like this is even getting attention from the media. Don’t give these uneducated activists vandals a platform.

I live in an area with a lot of foot traffic, which has been angering because of covid. Most people around my house are oblivious and don’t wear masks.

But today when I walked outside, for the first time in weeks, it was very quiet and very few were around. I was surprised, and then disappointed in the thought that so many people hate this country and are probably protesting by staying home. I used to hate America too and look down upon American pride, but now that I’m an adult I see how damaging and unproductive it is.
