Many are just uninformed and not very bright in the first place (Carlin's Law). Last night we watched some random HookTube street interviews asking citizens what the letters C, I, A stood for. Not one of five or so, got it right. Does that sound like a good random sample? I'm asking seriously.

The worst part would be getting them to concentrate on the typewriters. Sure they would wonder about what it was, why it was there, how it would improve their lives. I think a short-term, intermittent reward system. So they would get food and one electric jolt hitting the pleasure centers of their brains when they start writing and more randomly during the writing session. Yes, the Shakespeare is too long strict by far. We could say any work between a short story and novel would do as a winner. It could take centuries but we must know if it can be done.

Our next project would be: if a man speaks in the wilderness but there is no woman there to hear him— is he still wrong? Easy experimental design, for one.

My hard drive is named DYSTOPIAN, really. Maybe it's just me but I don't want to look back, because something might be gaining on me. Strange thing is my own calmness about it. It's only a simulation. Not real. And is our simulation maker in someone else's simulation?

I will have to deal later with your assertion that a simulation would not be this high-res. Hmmm.

I, for one, wish the Kenyan candidate would shut up. His grandmother insists he was born in Kenya, and it has been reported that his birth certificate is a well done forgery. There still are many suggesting he has connections to both the Catholics In Action and the Deep State. Plus, his wife used to play tight end for Notre Dame. No, that last one, I made up.

Anyone who leaves or enters the US with US $10,000 or more on them, in whatever form—cash, precious metals, etc.—must report it to "the authorities." All international travelers know this, even many of those who are mentally challenged. He was way over the line and I'm sure he knew the law. Within the last few years, it has become much more difficult for ordinary US citizens to move money around the world, unless you are rich enough. Try flying to say, Bangkok, and opening a bank account without the correct visa that will take you months to get, if all goes well. Good luck with that, but if you take the 55-minute hop to Cambodia, no problem sir.

Jesuits and Jews are a lethal mix. Have you seen the black pope's brand new papal pulpit, or is it rectumry? The inside and outside views are unmistakably that of a serpent's head. We have the first Jesuit Pope, and his hobby is astronomy, with special interest in our Sun. Inside the snake's head. The narrative is nonsense, but that picture says a lot.

Now I'm learning to slow down. Remember, nothing you guys say will get me upset, probably. I've done my share of surfing under the influence. There is no fine, but your email box gets empty pretty fast.

Are Narcissists Psychotic? by Nechama in science

[–]exPFCwintergreen 1 insightful - 1 funny1 insightful - 0 funny2 insightful - 1 funny -  (0 children)

That is a hard one, but I can say this: all narcissists are psychopaths. They are the center of the universe and only care about themselves. That's a rough definition of psychopath. But some psychopaths can keep it under control so they appear more or less normal to most people most of the time. Just look up >psychopathy scale (or test)< and you can find out in minutes if you or one of your loved ones is a psychopath. Of course there is a scale from mild, to "that dude is really boinked in the head man." (Excuse the technical jargon.)

Inspirational Hemingway Quotes by Nechama in quotes

Good. One of his wives described a dinner party they attended just after being married. I'm not sure of the context or his phrasing but a tipsy Ernest announced to all guests that his wife had just had an operation to...uh make their genitals more compatible. What a guy.

Hunter Thompson wrote a fictional story, and he makes it clear that it is f I c t I o n a l. Hemingway is a terminal alcoholic, depressed and suicidal. He lacks a reason to go on living. He must prove himself, even if only he knows about the potentially messy affair. So, Ernest, a gun collector and living alone in Montana, picked out his favorite shotgun. He had used it often before so he knew the "pull" of the trigger. He loaded it and put the barrel in his mouth. Then he pulled the trigger slowly, and stopped just in time.

He did it every morning, the way some people would wash down 30 mgs of Adderall or put a dabble of cognac in his/her first coffee. But then one day he overdid it. Don't be like Ernest. Just let nature takes it course. [note to self: too dark?]

Not arguing with you, but about the photo, he is famous for saying that he wrote standing up and in the nude. The view must have been spectacular.

I have lived in Mexico and the following is an open secret. You will find an HSBC Bank in any medium-sized city in the country. Imagine an old fashioned bank that has steel lattice work from the counter, up to the ceiling, with an opening in front of each teller big enough for a shoebox to fit through. This was a problem for the cartels until they designed steel boxes that from the front were just larger than US and Mexican notes, but the boxes are several feet long, so they can be slid (slud? sludded?) into the tellers' windows. I imagine they were filled with US $100 dollar bills, but that is only conjecture. Everyone who walked into an HSBC Bank knew this and HSBC, in the town where I lived, had very few customers, but a few BIG ones, the cartels. But somehow the FBI and other US agencies appeared blind to the facts that were clear to a casual observer. The HSBC employees, wherever they are, surely noticed the few, but massive deposits.
