I'm about 45 minutes into this and she keeps using the word "gender" when I think the word she's looking for is sex. When she says "gender is not a social construct" it's like okay but what are you actually talking about here. I like that she's talking about these topics but it's driving me a little nuts. Will keep listening, especially if from what I've read she tells joe about AGP which is amazing. More people need to know and understand what AGP is.

Yes, I pay attention to the shape too along with the gait. I am much more on edge if the shape is larger, moving slowly or just generally being kind of erratic. I haven't even had a particular bad experience either, it's just something I've always had an eye out for. Yeah, it sure would be nice.

And personally I do think that kids should at least learn what transgender people are because they are likely to encounter them (around here at least) so it's good for them to have a fairly neutral basic understanding.

definitely agree.

I was looking this up recently and I actually felt a bit better after I read what San Francisco schools are teaching kids. It's not as extreme as I thought.

that's good to hear!

they do have policies that basically say gender trumps biological sex for gendered spaces at the schools

yeah this is no bueno. teaching girls that they are not allowed to have boundaries with their spaces is bad news

when they divide up into groups of boys and girls, the students can pick whichever group they like regardless if whether they belong to that group or not, thus negating the point of having separate groups in the first place. Then they don't call it boy's puberty or girl's puberty but a bunch of vague wishy washy bs about how many girls have periods but some boys do too and I'm sure that's not at all confusing to anyone.

Um, wow. I am concerned for these kids. puberty and sex is already confusing enough, along with poor teaching or no teaching at all in most schools. Now you throw gender identity into the mix and you might as well have no sex ed at all. you're just confusing the fuck out of these kids. And liberals were supposed to be ones positing sex education! You might as well just go all in and teach creationism too if we are just throwing biology and science out the fucking window.

Men tend to be on average: more anti-social, higher sex drives, more aggressive, more violent and more impulsive and prone to risk taking. I do think biology and hormonal differences between males and females play a role in this behavior. Being larger and stronger just gives them the maximum possible damage to all of the above traits I just mentioned. This is also true across multiple animal species, not just humans and it's all about the sex hormones.

[–]emissch 29 insightful - 3 fun29 insightful - 2 fun30 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Before peaking (B.P.) - I was neutral to mildly supportive of TRA. A couple view points I had:

  • I thought trans was about the same thing as a sexual orientation where the movement had similar goals and objectives to LGB and should be considered as the same

  • I thought conservatives were all up in arms over nothing due to bigotry/homophobia regarding that bathroom bill in North Carolina a few years ago. I thought what's the big deal with bathrooms if they just want to pee and leave?

  • I thought all transwomen were essentially gay men, just like in Orange is the New black, right?! What's wrong with transwomen in women's prisons if they are just like Laverne Cox!

  • I had a live and let live libertarian approach to trans. "I don't really give a shit what you do" etc

After Peaking (A.P.) - these were my following realizations:

  • Autogynephilia, "transbians" and the cotton ceiling. Learning about these things (I think it was cotton ceiling first) truly threw me for a loop and made me rethink the whole thing. I think I went from viewing TIMs as nonthreatening gay guys to horny straight dudes who want to invade women's spaces for sexual gratification. If only more female TRAs realized this. they would start viewing these men as the threats they inherently are.

  • TIMs in women's sports, Joe Rogan and the Fallon Fox fiasco. Joe Rogan actually caused me to peak when he went on a well reasoned rant about Fallon Fox breaking the skull of a woman during a fight and not disclosing he was a male.

  • the fact that trans "feelings" of being a woman is born from the most shallow and offensive stereotypes of women.

  • Stories of parents medically transing kids or "influencing" gay kids into being trans. The obvious homophobia of that caused me to peak once again.

  • the over the top language policing, death threats, authoritarian behavior and hyperbolic drama "misgendering is literal violence!!1"

I'm sure there are more but these are just off the top of my head.

[–]emissch 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No, gender/gendered brains isn't innate. I don't have a circuit in my head that tells me to like pink because its for girls. however, there could be some differences between males and females in visuo-spatial cognition, verbal and reading skills and of course hormonal differences that could influence behavior. Males overall are more prone to aggression (presumably due to higher testosterone) and you can see that bare out in crime statistics. it should be noted that there have been multiple studies analyzing this and at the end of the day there is no significant difference between male and female brains.

here are some articles and their findings. I'm not sure how great these studies are or if they have been debunked since.

I read the links, watched the video. Regarding the top two articles-- sure intercourse, reproduction and the human body are weird and funky but you can blame nature for that, not humans. and yes, PIV carries more risk to women than to men. Blame nature for that one as well. I'm just happy that nobody has to get pierced in the abdomen to reproduce or get their heads ripped off. When you look at the reproductive strategies of other animals, insects, etc, our system is the best of the worst. Also, regarding the other blog posts on "all piv is rape" -- that actually does a disservice to real rape victims in my opinion. If everything is rape, nothing is, so it's important to not muddy the waters and change definitions there. the reality is, some women are oriented to like male bodies, PIV sex, and that's their sexual orientation. Inequalities should be addressed of course, but placing a blanket "PIV=BAD" statement on what millions of women are oriented toward just seems way off base and lacks nuance.

I was on that reddit A LOT and I never once saw posts like this specifically about hating male babies, abortion, etc. which makes me think that mods may have removed the posts before I saw them but did they really or am I just wishful thinking???? did they just allow this crap?? if they did, there should have been a warning from Reddit to get our asses in order. I still think the ban was too heavy handed considering how many other banned reddits received warnings and we got zero. At the same time, I am horrified from what I saw from those posts. It's fine to express disappointment if you had a specific sex in mind, but to gleefully crow about aborting male babies? Come the fuck on.

Well, if they uncovered posts like this I don't really blame them because that material is pretty abhorrent, however, it was not okay for reddit admins to give 0 warnings for a full ban and I disagree with the ban 100%. However, whoever wrote these posts, be it TRAs or actual GC members, they should have been removed by the mods. I don't know whether mods came in and removed later on? that is always possible. If this content was allowed though by GC mods then that is a problem and should have been corrected. i never once saw anything like that in the sub so that's pretty surprising to me.

We need this showing up on Google for a gender critical search. So pardon me but here goes. by 100_percent_truth in GenderCritical

I am not a radical feminist, but WTF reddit? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

Not sure I consider myself a radical feminist either but r/GC provided tons of support by women, for women on many other issues OTHER than trans stuff. It was one of the few places where women were validated instead of being gaslit all the time. That's what so many non-readers don't get about the sub.

Exactly, that's what people who weren't apart of the community don't get. A lot of the time it wasn't even about TRA. face palm

Overlap of Trans with Bipolar and Cluster B Personality Disorders - Resource by [deleted] in GenderCritical

that site is a great resource! Agreed on the cluster B PD's being so prevalent in TIMs/TIFs. Everyone lands on the narcissism components of trans, but holy shit are there a ton of Borderlines in the mix as well (victimhood, unstable identity, self-harm, etc.)
