"Hatereddit" What the fuck?!

Today on reddit I posted 3 comments on a post on the front page. They were deleted by mods, and to verify my account, I have to send them a picture of my forearm showing my skin color. If my skin is not dark enough, I don't get approved. by magnora7 in MeanwhileOnReddit

This is insane. So you now need to have a stupid flair that is acquired by having the correct skin color to post?

The same people who say we need to "stop with the anti-semitism" are the same ones who will support anti-White rhetoric as free speech by EuropeanAwakening in SaidIt

[–]dashiefan 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

To be anti-White is to discriminate or be against white people. Anti-anti-semitism and anti-white are different things. It is 100% possible to be against both anti-Semitic and anti-White views, in fact most people are both. The reason why most are against both is that they are against discrimination in general.

Now, I'm one of the people who thinks that we need to stop with the anti-semitism. Not because I disagree with it (although I do think that antisemitism is bad), but because I think we really need to post non-political stuff. I'm not saying stop posting political stuff, but this site isn't supposed to be for reading the same views over and over again, it's more supposed to have a varied range of content.

Linux team approves new terminology, bans terms like 'blacklist' and 'slave' by TruthTeller in NotTheOnion

[–]dashiefan 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You don't need to change terminology for some PC reasons. Why would one be offended by the current names? The words "blacklist" and "whitelist" have NOTHING to do with race. I don't think you would meet many (if any) people who would even think of races when they hear those words.

And "master" and "slave"... I mean, I'm not a fan of those terms (for non-SJW reasons, mind you), but they aren't offensive. They are just words that are being used non-offensively, and they seem to get the point across well enough.

I mean, I definitely prefer the new terms, but the motive behind the change is hypersensitivity. And these changes aren't as major as many other things, but you hear a lot about people doing stupid or useless stuff due to being offended over stuff that doesn't even affect them. This terminology was probably not even supposed to be offensive.

[–]dashiefan 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is dumb. Can’t kids just learn one way of doing stuff that has been developing for ages (and works very well), instead of learning about all the less-effective methods because of some "culturally-inclusive” crap? This feels like maths mixed with Social Studies. And I sure hope this doesn’t also include the crap we did at my school last year, where the quizzes were 20% “What is the Māori word for pentagon?” kinds of questions, especially if that affects grades.

Young White Mother Killed By Black Lives Matter Mob for Allegedly Saying ‘All Lives Matter' by scrubking in politics

[–]dashiefan 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I actually said that they shouldn't have killed her. I'm white myself, and I have nothing against my race or any other race. I'm just saying that you should never kill anyone for sharing their opinion. People of any race can be victims, and I accept that.

All murder is bad, race doesn't matter. Doesn't matter if one race commits more crime than the other, they are doing the same thing. My point is that you should not kill people (unless you're defending someone like the husband was doing), no matter how offended you are.

So I read numerous articles about the same issue, and here is my opinion on what seems to have happened:

The woman, her husband, and two friends were walking together. One said a version of the n-word. Assuming they used it offensively, that was an asshole thing to do, but they have the right to do so either way. A group of BLM activists confronted them (which they also have the right to do so if done in a nonviolent way) and then the woman said "All Lives Matter", which is more ignorant than racist IMO. The activists pointed a gun at the group, and then the woman’s husband pointed a gun back, and then the woman was shot and killed.

I don’t care how much you disagree with what someone’s saying, you never kill anyone for it. Telling people your point of view and why you disagree with them is a better thing to do. That’s why freedom of speech is important, listening to different points of view is what helps up progress as a society. I don’t care how offensive it is, you do not kill people.

Because they need a space to be antisemitic. I don’t support antisemitism, but they need a space to talk. Reddit banned them, so why don’t they join SaidIt?

If they are claiming the site as a safe haven for them and nobody else, break them apart. Don’t hate on them, deal with it rationally. Don’t give them what they want, that would just make them stronger.

Yeah, but the amount of COVID-19 cases is rapidly increasing. It will probably never reach the death rates of hunger or anything, but it's still quite a significant number. According to Worldometers, there are already 43K COVID-19 deaths, while there are only about 122-123K seasonal flu deaths.

So in the time since the chart was made, the amount of deaths from COVID-19 has increased by 104%. Seasonal flu, on the other hand has increased by 8%. It's been projected to reach 1 million deaths in not much time at all.

It may start to decline by the end of the year, but it won't die any time soon.

It will eventually become (and it already kind of is) one of those sites. One of those sites that everyone else complains about filled with certain groups of people who don't accept certain opinions. It's a shame.

I still use Reddit, but I feel like I will stop enjoying it by 2022. There are still some great subreddits, that's why I still browse it, but censorship is an obvious problem. I've seen people complain about it many a time. I feel like those people will leave, causing Reddit its decline and its eventual status as one of "those" sites, because certain people will stay. Those who like the censorship of opinions.
