Nope, not from scratch, this is Reddit circa 2014 or 2015 https://github.com/reddit-archive/reddit

We have added a lot of features and fixed up the sham of a codebase that can be found at that link.

Buckle your seat belts guys, this is going to be wild ride no matter which side of the debate you are on. Judaism is one of the most respected religions in the US, so it'll be interesting if NY can force them out of their religious exemption.

Congrats everyone on financial solvency, a huge milestone. The sky is the limit! https://youtu.be/7m8izf-oXY4

Also the improved expandos means that BitChute, PeerTube, and DTube are natively supported on SaidIt!

We made some search improvements too. Links no longer show up as subs and vice versa. Also sub search on /subs finds more as it no longer uses exact matching.

Why is my email address suddenly so important? by anescient in MeanwhileOnReddit

[–]d3rr 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oh man this is dirty and deeper than just a 'quarantine'. I remember people digging into this when /r/911Truth was banned, there are different settings for both 'banned' and 'quarantined' that cause the accessibility to be different, and I don't think Reddit has disclosed them or explained them well.

But anyway I can't answer why the email address is so important. Maybe it's just to make you shake your fist and give up.

Repeated and intentional ad hominem attacks and name calling is not allowed. Memes and trolling can easily drift into these things, but something like scientific papers, not so much.

Fluoride. We sit here and bitch about this and that, while consuming more and more. Two international health organizations have labeled it a neurotoxin, and too much fluoride has become a legit issue (dental fluorosis), but somehow fluoridation is still a contentious issue.

How I did it? I'm honestly not sure. I used the npm package redditor, replacing reddit.com with saidit.net.

Hahhaa that's how we built this whole site and all of it. Welcome to the club!

I got the app going, ran from source on linux, although I think I'm supposed to be able to use "Cloaker.app". Ran great! I like those menus at the top, like a real desktop app.

My top 2 feedbacks: voting needs some kind of UI response so you know it worked. And adding the subreddit sorts, hot, top, all, new. Also adding logged out support would be cool. Like in the android app you can browse everything without logging in. And no more right click actions!

Awesome feedback and welcome aboard.

  1. On the SaidIt Todo list, along with ignoring users more conveniently.
  2. We do have image resize, try dragging it, but it currently can't go bigger than it's container. There's an open issue on GitHub to improve this.
  3. Not a bad idea, and not the first time I've heard this

Post Your Streaming Platform Suggestions In This Thread! by Zombi in MovieNight

PeerTube can handle everything but 6 (chat), and if you use your own instance no one can do a DMCA takedown. Peer to peer streaming will keep it fast for everyone.

Edit: since there's some interest in PeerTube as a solution, I'll add that running your own PeerTube instance will set you back $5/mo. for up to 25gb of videos.

A free but DMCA susceptible solution is to just upload the video to BitChute or PeerTube (someone else's instance) or another platform and assume that they won't take it down for 24h at which time movie night will already be over. But you know what they say- if it is to be, then it's up to me.

What Linux Window Manager/Desktop Enviroment do you prefer? by Stoner in Linux

Xfce - it's fast and I've been too lazy to switch to i3. The (GUI/mouse based) configurability is pretty amazing, the window snapping is great, you can even assign gaps/window margins.
