The director should be upset at Netflix here. The point of the film was to condone using young girls like this and yet the marketing was doing exactly that. It's not like they weren't aware of the kind of response this would get - they wanted outrage and attention and revealed how little they cared about the actual issue in the process. It's about time something targeted at women gets this treatment.

GC: With the potential for future advancements in medical technology, what does this mean for the immutability of biological sex? by transwoman in GCdebatesQT

[–]cybitch 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Technology evolving to the point of this being possible wouldn't make sex any more ambiguous than humans inventing guns makes tigers not dangerous. There are 2 kinds of gametes humans can produce, and as a result 2 kinds of roles we can play during reproduction - the reason biological sex exists in the first place. There are also humans with bodies that are incapable of reproduction, who don't fit into either role, but that doesn't change the fact that humans have 2 sexes, no more, no less, that just means sometimes animals are born with genetic abnormalities. We don't treat any other kind of genetic abnormality as something that defines our species, for example noone would claim the human species evolved to have a variable amount of fingers just because sometimes one is born with more than 5 on each hand.

So no, nothing will make human sex ambiguous. It's a trait that's been well defined since the beginning of time in all primates. Some potential technological advancement doesn't change anything about how nature evolved us, it just means we've learned yet another way to alter our environment to be more to our liking.

Am I the only one who *kind of* believes in transsexualism as a valid thing? by gencritcurious in GenderCritical

Who says the public bathroom is for women and not people with female bodies? Do you think bathrooms were separated because ladybrains, not because our bodies make us vulnerable to assault when exposed to males? And yes I do mean males, not men, because it turns out male genitals can still be used for rape even if someone wears a skirt over them instead of pants.

Transsexualism is as "valid" as any fetish is, quite frankly I don't care so long as they keep their male organs covered outside of their bedrooms. They can be all the woman they want in private, what is the need for everyone to see that yes, they like wearing dresses. Outside of a sexual context it shouldn't matter at all what kind of clothes you wear or what genitals you have under them. Any combo is fine, really. Noone actually cares until you start imposing yourself on people in demand of some sort of "validation".

Yes, it's false hope for both the kid and the parents, who understandably find it a lot harder to accept the idea the cause of the person's struggles cannot be treated in any way. A very cruel false hope that leads to unnecessary medical procedures and confusion at why the person still doesn't have friends or feel like socializing comes naturally. I wouldn't be surprised if this sense of confusion is a source of a lot of the aggressiveness people who are trans demonstrate towards people they feel aren't validating them - they may genuinely not understand that not every problem they have with socializing comes from "transphobia". Naturally they will trust the so-called experts when they say so, and unlike someone who has better instincts for reading people, they may genuinely be in the dark about why people react to them the way they do. And of course, when a bunch of doctors and otherwise educated, respected people tell them it's actually society that is the problem, they will believe it. Even a normal person would.

There's a case to be made about people ASD feeling a sort of body alienation or body dysphoria as well, that might be mistakenly assumed to come from their gender - one of the symptoms is problems with coordinating movements, and also facial expressions. The "body language" and voice passing practice trans people tend to do may actually help with that by improving their motor skills, training them to be more aware of their body and gaining better control over their voice, further cementing the belief that the issue is with their gender.

This still doesn't mean they are the opposite sex, though, it just means for whatever reason their biological gender doesn't affect their brain in the same manner it does regular people.

Not only are there those patterns there that explain why someone with ASD doesn't always feel comfortable performing gender in the way the average person does, there is a more depressing side to why the incidence is so high. People with these disorders have always had a sense of not being able to interact with others in the same way others do. They may not realize exactly why (a lot of high-functioning people will remain undiagnosed, particularly women), but they know others seem to be able to "fit in" and whenever they attempt to do the same, it doesn't work. Well, imagine if now their parents took them to see a therapist, and they told them about all of this - not having the same hobbies/interests/temperament as other boys and girls, always feeling like those things came easy to everyone else, almost like second nature, but they just never felt comfortable in any situation. Trying to act like other boys/girls never worked out for them and not just that, it actually made them feel uncomfortable and insincere to their true self. Of course, the social difficulties in ASD are not limited to just one gender, but the issue of not fitting in with others that are their own gender is going to be the one most likely to be zeroed in on by parents. It's also an easier pill to swallow than them having a disability that can't simply be cured by pronouns and pills.

Whether or not the therapist would pick up on the ASD or not(they can't seem to pick it up in girls very well), they are not going to just ignore the fact that this kid just doesn't seem to feel comfortable with the stuff all the other kids their gender seem to. According to the latest science, this can only mean one thing - they will feel comfortable once they stop trying to fit in with their biological sex and start their exciting transformation into their true, opposite-sex-brained self! Who needs to discuss things like how some people just can't fit in with the majority, but that's fine because they can be talented and happy too. No, this kid needs puberty blockers and new pronouns, stat! Surely this will solve all their problems. And it's not like giving them false hope that once everyone starts seeing them as the opposite sex they will be accepted and have friends like the other kids is going to have any long term consequences on their mental health or anything.

The need for hierarchy is called evolution. The more resources you gather for yourself, the better the chances your offspring will survive and thrive. Other people's genes are competition, even when there is a need to cooperate with them. This is the case with all primates. There is ALWAYS a hierarchy. There is zero reason human beings would be an exception, aside from wishful thinking. The problem with banning "hate speech" is that the term is subjective. AFAIK, US laws already make it illegal to encourage violent behavior against anyone. So there should be no need for further censorship as far as public safety is concerned. In the end, these buzzword terms of "hate speech" and "bigotry" will be used as political tools. You can see how it's done already by watching cancel culture - 20 year old social media postings being dug up and interpreted in the least charitable manner possible, with the people doing the interpreting not even bothering to pretend they are actually concerned with anything other than the endorphin rush they get from "calling them out". It's a power trip. Now imagine this, but with actual power involved. That's what makes the left more dangerous than the right, currently.

This might've been different in the past, but right now it's obvious who the anti-science people are, and currently they control science along with the media as well. Women who are still more afraid of the right are delusional, no amount of misogyny makes a difference if there's no power to exert it. The real misogynists and sociopaths have long since switched sides. To them it makes no difference what kind of ideological BS to spew, they only care about the social rewards they get from spewing it.

The issue here is that unfortunately human beings are unable to work in harmony without leaders. Hierarchies will form naturally. So the utopia of everyone being equal that's supposed to follow the big slaughtering of the rich will never happen, instead new elites rise to the top while spewing BS propaganda about being for the people or whatever. Meanwhile the people have less power than ever, nepotism, censorship and slave camps for wrongthinkers thrive.

IMO, confidence is not something that precedes positive interactions with others, but a result of them. Attractiveness has been proven to play a crucial role in getting good grades, getting job interviews, just generally getting what you want. This applies even in situations where there is no confidence, like when people only have photos to go on, or in experiments where people are asking others for help of some kind and try to appear sympathetic, rather than confident.

This is called the halo effect. It works for all situations in life, not just dating. I'm guessing it's probably because when we evolved, before modern medicine, physical health could make or break you in a lot of ways. In modern days, medicine can compensate, so that now you don't need to be born with great health in order to do well by society, however our subconscious minds failed to keep up with the progress.

There are zero options for those of us who actually want to say whatever the fuck we want on the internet for fuck's sake. Like, yay, men no longer get to restrict our freedom, now we get to do it to each other! What's the point of feminism if we still have to censor ourselves everywhere? This is also why the whole TERF thing took off like it did, even though men are the ones killing troons over their gay panic or whatever. Women will tell other women to obey the troons, men do no such thing. I hate that I was born a woman. That's true, but at the end of the day, the world is ruled by men. The approval of men means more to men than whatever empathy they have the potential of developing for the women in their lives. And noone craves that approval more than those who used to be outcasts. In my experience, socially inadequate males are a thousand times worse than the so-called "jocks". They're desperate to find anyone to look down for their own ego, so they're more likely to bully women. They're also more likely to give in to the bullying of the trans than normal men are because at the end of the day they're cowards, which contributes to an even worse environment for women.

Well, most corporations who support the whole trans thing don't sell those surgeries and hormones though. The support is more than just brownie points, it's also because the woke mob uses the free speech they want to deny others to downright harass people out of jobs and in the process the whole company will suffer, so the company will simply pre-emptively make their message public and also force the employees to comply to make sure they get no BS thrown their way. Also, the brownie points will translate to attention which will translate to sales, at least that's what they're hoping for. And in a communist economy, none of that would be a thing. Like China, for example, if people wanted to boycott companies in the name of rights for Uyghurs the state would shut them down rather than allow them to damage the companies as the company money is tied to the state money. Ironically enough, these people are protesting in the name of a system where the methods they are using to get their way would be completely ineffective.

While women get slapped with diagnosis after diagnosis and noone is offering to modify biological reality and society to make things more comfortable for us. I do feel like a lot of so-called therapy is nothing more than gaslighting someone who is already vulnerable. On men that doesn't work, as it's a male tendency to externalize guilt instead of internalizing it. So they feel free to engage in all sorts of "problematic" behavior and the idea of going to therapy so someone can teach them pick apart their own behavior doesn't even occur to them. No, it's not them that's wrong, it's reality, so cough up the free breast implants and women's sports scholarships! You clearly have zero insight and this is all just an exercise in pointless arguing for fun for you, you've never had anyone argue your personal freedom needs to be taken away. Maybe someday we'll get radical feminists arguing that males should all be kept in cages because they're too violent to move around freely, and only taken out for mating purposes and maybe you'll have some inkling of an understanding about what it's like to be reduced to your genitals by people who claim to have good intentions. This is not new. The people "prescribing" this treatment are therapists, and therapists have been doing this to people for a while before this trans mania came along. Therapists medicalize things that aren't medical for the enormous amounts of money. It's very noticeable on reddit, whenever someone has any sort of issue it's always therapy. Everyone needs to go to therapy. But women are the ones who are particularly vulnerable to it. The majority of people spending their income on therapy are women. This is no coincidence. The mental health system has been used to police women's behavior since lobotomies was a thing - the majority of the recipients were women. When therapy doesn't work on someone, the blame is immediately put on them for not working hard enough - that's funny, I thought the therapist was the one doing the job? For the kind of money they ask it's the least they could do. Women are way more prone to blaming themselves, though, and who knows that better than someone who studied human behavior?

The satanic ritual abuse panic was also the fault of "repressed memory" therapists. The Britney Spears fiasco right now, while I'm not claiming to know what's up with her, it seems like she's considered well enough to perform an extremely high-stress job with a bunch of strangers staring at her, but not well enough to decide where the salary she gets for that job goes. The mental health field has been used to exploit people for a while now, but only with the trans nonsense has this become noticeable.

Could you elaborate? Why is it any more capitalistic than any other current American ideology, people are profiting off of so-called "woke capitalism" in many other ways as well. Corporations have been using political statements as basically free advertising for a while now, and none of those statements have been right wing. The whole of BLM has been corporation after corporation expressing support. Not one has spoken against it, it would be bad for the brand, as leftists tend to vote with their wallet, a capitalist concept that couldn't be adhered to in an economic system where competition between businesses is nonexistent. In a communist system you take what you're given and the state takes theirs and if you disagree with the political views of the state, well, then you get a free trip to a "reeducation" camp. The concepts of wrongthink and limiting free speech aka "some speech needs to be banned" are left wing ideas. The people who benefit from the trans movement are capitalists, but the rhetoric they use to profit is exclusively left wing.

It's beyond impossible, women and men instinctively view and treat the opposite sex differently. If we didn't, there would be no reproduction either. It's akin to conversion therapy, sometimes human behavior just won't fit into whatever mold you think it should fit into, even if the person themselves would want it to. The whole reason this trans nonsense was allowed to flourish in the first place is this non-productive head in the clouds dreaming about utopias instead of looking at practical things to do to improve how women are treated in the here and now. No matter how hard we police human behavior, humans are animals, we have instincts that are beyond our conscious control.

Nothing about politics can be "proven". No human really sees the big picture, everything humans perceive is filtered through their own biased perspective first. There's no way to scientifically prove the superiority of one policy above others, or any objective way to define what would make a policy superior. Both leftist and rightist positions rely on emotion and instinct.

There is always the possibility of people being framed for any crime by others who wish them harm, this doesn't mean there shouldn't be a law against it. Currently if you send anyone anything illegal, it's you who will be on the hook for it, not them. Sending them is considered distribution, so the person they're trying to frame should be grateful for those laws.

As far as banning violent video games etc, I'm not sure the depiction of violence and the depiction of sex have similar effects. For one thing, violence is usually depicted as either having a reason of some sort, or being applied indiscriminately towards people of any race or sex. Sexual activity is by nature discriminatory, one gender, or age group, is being "targeted" and therefore "othered" by the person who's consuming the media. This can have a detrimental effect on how that group of people, and their rights, are viewed by the consumer as the media will only take their POV into consideration. The target group is only depicted in the context of what is pleasurable for the consumer. And, because of the nature of the male and female sex drives, even people who aren't searching specifically for the content directed at them will not come across any recordings of this nature in which they are the othered group as opposed to the consumer. This will work to essentially cut them off from ever being able to really empathize with the target of their sexual desires. Instead their biased views of the target group will be confirmed. So the analogy doesn't work - sexual activity is "directed" while violence can be applied to anyone by anyone.

As for minors being charged for owning the nude images of themselves, yes, it's overkill, but that doesn't mean sexual behavior needs to be encouraged when it comes to this demographic. Sexual behavior has consequences, reminding teenagers of that is not a bad thing. That doesn't mean abstinence needs to be preached, but this whole modern day culture of not "kink shaming" and teenagers being put on hormone pills is not the way to go either.

Anyone who wasn't anorexic would've been confused as to how the girls could be so conscious that Ana was cruel and killing them but also still participate in the community as though it was a positive thing instead of a death cult. Self-destructiveness in the name of fitting some sort of societal standard is basically what teenage girlhood is all about these days. Just pick a cult and prepare to mold yourself into whatever unreasonable standard it worships. And no matter what you do, you will always fall short.

I'm sure noone would mind if you were to consume the recording in the form of a number, people wouldn't be able to tell what it is then. It's the non-number form people tend to take issue with. And overall, what is the value of allowing these recordings to not only exist, but to also be sent to others? I support free speech, but only in matters that count as the protection of someone's rights - open debate on issues of race and gender from the perspective of all sides for example. The only rights involved with these recordings are the ones being broken by them, so free speech is not an excuse to support them IMO.

So it's very easy to dismiss anything an old woman says, all the males will instantly agree with you and from then on it's easy to pressure the women as well.

Not everyone is going to be reading the replies. If people see racist topics on the front page and they can only see the upvotes next to it they probably won't bother clicking on the topic. At the same time, I don't believe downvotes are a solution because of what you said, people should be encouraged to discuss topics not just click and move on, also downvotes give rise to brigading which ends up serving the same function as censorship. Having a disagree emoji would be a good way to make sure the front page represents the reality of the site, so normies would bother to click further instead of just running away because they feel like everyone here agrees with that stuff.

The double standards are so obvious. How many stories have you heard of middle-aged men being creeps to customer service workers, but there seems to be no name for those people. And if there was a name that stood for every young muslim male that goes to a western country and harasses white women for daring to walk around with their elbows exposed the mass-media outrage would never end. And that outrage would come mainly from women as well. That's just how it works, women stand up for all other groups and men don't. As our reward we get to read about how much we suck on mainstream websites everyday while men are free to walk around acting like assholes and perverts all day long. How did I know what subreddit this topic was going to be about before I even opened it? Yeah that sub has been getting on my nerves for a while now, I'm the type that wants to chime in, but there is no room on reddit for differing opinions and actual discussions. It's all about the satisfaction of downvoting dissenters over there, by commenting on this sort of crap you're only giving them what they want.

I'm convinced that the BS on that sub is a deliberate attempt to provoke and taunt the women on that site. It was a misogynist website from the beginning, with subs like "jailbait", the only reason it seems more normie now is because they want advertiser money. If they gave a fuck about "hate" like they claim to, the red pill sub would've long since been banned. Instead they went after female-only spaces. I wish the alternatives had more activity so I could abandon that place for good. They don't deserve to have this public image of a space that's welcoming to everyone while demonstrating their hatred of women with every move they make.

The mansplaining you describe is a big reason behind why women always underestimate their skills. It's designed to make women feel insecure and anxious, making us feel as though we need a man to help us. Women are well-equipped to make our own way in the modern world, but men try to bully us into feeling as though we aren't for their own purposes. You end up getting with a man just so he could tell the other men to back off, as men will only listen to those they perceive as being capable of kicking their asses. Male superiority in fields that don't require physical strength is an illusion, carried by their ridiculously over-sized egos and their willingness to dominate and intimidate others. Just look at the current most powerful man in the world, has there been one thing that's come out of Trump's mouth that doesn't make him sound like a total imbecile? The emperor keeps reminding people he has no clothes, but he still is up there where he is, because male hierarchies aren't based on actual competence.

I'd like a "disagree", where people can express they don't agree with the batshit and the general consensus of users can be shown without hiding unpopular opinions. So, not a downvote, because it wouldn't take anything away from the post, but a way for the more "mainstream" users to demonstrate to the newbies that there are people here who disagree with a lot of the frontpage stuff as well and to show that there's true diversity of opinion on this site.

And I'm not sure where you get this idea that chores are asymmetrically divided

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/12/us/the-household-work-men-and-women-do-and-why.html

I want to squash the boomer trope of men being helpless buffoons which I think is what you are basing this off of.

A lot of that trope is kept alive by men who pretend to suck at household chores so women won't ask them to do it again. Combine that with the complaints about "nagging" whenever women tell them to do something that's awfully difficult and unreasonable, such as suggesting they might try changing a diaper sometimes, and it's easy to see why women just accept their husbands are morons and do everything themselves. This breeds resentment and soon you'll get the stereotypical marriage where both parties hate each other.

why can't homemaker be the default?

Well, what kind of attitude did society used to have towards women, back when they were mostly homemakers? That they were important? That they had to be respected, their voices heard and their opinions taken seriously? Or was it more like "what do you say to a woman with two black eyes?" I'm sure you can finish the joke yourself. Men have always been pushed to make something of themselves, not just to live quiet lives, but to be an important, respected part of society. Nowadays, women also want that for ourselves, we want to do work that is considered important to society. Even if you want a family as well, having a child takes a lot more out of a woman than it does out of a man. It doesn't help that chores are still divided in an unbalanced way. The vast majority of men still expect women to be doing everything at home as well. Even when women do agree they wish to be homemakers, the salary of one person is no longer sufficient to have the sort of lifestyle most people desire. The solution of governments everywhere seems to be to import more people from somewhere else. We'll see how it works out.

As opposed to old women now, who have so many people that help them...Oh wait, they get put in nursing homes all the same. The husbands die before they do, so that's of no help either. Just because you have an adult child doesn't mean they're going to agree to being your caregiver. I plan on taking care of my mother of course, but it's far from a guarantee for everyone, and if she, god forbids, develops something like dementia or some other very disabling condition it might be that I won't be able to look after her. The other group of women I have interacted with, feminists, have some older women who have families and they don't seem too happy. I agree with you though, I don't think casual sex is good for women either. We didn't evolve to compartmentalize sex the way men do. Pregnancy is a serious risk to our health even now, let alone back when there was no civilization yet. We also didn't evolve to have the same sex drives men do though, so I'm sure I can be happy with or without a man.

While I believe ideology is important to a lot of people, that is not why anybody of any race has children, nor do I believe it can make someone happy raising children they would otherwise see as a burden. Reproducing is the natural consequence of falling in love with someone, no more no less. Humans are smart though, and we have invented ways to avoid reproducing if we think it'll be too much of a burden for us. It doesn't have to be, we have the tools to make life a lot easier for mothers. It just so happens the rich and powerful think it'll be more cost effective to just ship in new people to replace the natives instead.

Alright, but I almost never see any feminist solution to issues like collapsing birthrates and replacement with more conservative people who are typically more anti feminist, misogynist, violent etc than the native white population.

This is something that has been bothering me for a while. Personally I hate that shit and think the borders should be closed asap, but the rich have convinced women globalism is the way to some sort of utopia where everyone is equal. Most women seem to believe in that deluded sort of SJW feminism that thinks socialization is everything and there are zero innate differences in the behavior of men and women, whites and blacks etc. I think it's BS but I'm very much in the minority. Most men have also started to believe it so while it used to be a feminism thing it seems like your fellow men are also SJWs now.

Women have been called worse throughout history, so I wouldn't be too bothered. Nonetheless, the post doesn't say trans people are ugly cowards, it says they aren't stunning and brave. Stunning and brave are adjectives most normal people realize don't apply to them. So if someone said to a specific subset of women "you're not beautiful and brave" I would NOT take that to mean they hate women. It's insulting and not necessarily something that needs to be expressed, but I wouldn't call it hateful as the vast majority of people are not beautiful and brave, no matter who they are. If a subset of women insisted on being called beautiful and brave and stunning and took anything less than that to be "hateful", I would think they were being entitled and ridiculous. And if someone made a post like that as a response to said women demanding to be treated to such compliments I would think it was spot on. I don't like entitled, demanding people who expect everyone to compliment them.

The real point was only the idea of energy/willpower/ability to act being a severely limited resource that some of us need to carefully manage throughout our days, lest we find ourselves at a deficit before our day ends.

That's all human beings. As someone with chronic pain, the best way to explain it imo is fight or flight. When you're in pain, your body is essentially in fight or flight mode, so you're on high alert and the same environment that you would normally find it easy to focus in is too much for you in that state. This leads to you becoming tired much more easily. The whole "spoons" thing is maybe good when you're explaining things to a child but it won't lead to adults taking you any more seriously.

When we thought 20th century Feminism would progress. by Happy_face_caller in PinkPillFeminism

That's because women's rights became lumped in with a bunch of other stuff that aren't actually relevant to women's rights at all. Feminism became a meaningless term once that happened. That's why I refer to myself as a women's rights advocate now. Other rights movements are great and all, but women are not a minority, why do we act like we are one and need to take care of literally every other group as well. Our movement should be able to stand on its own.

There needs to be a simple, well-made infographic or short online presentation of some kind that can be used to help make the average person aware of the threat of critical theory by Guts in whatever

[–]cybitch 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Critical theory doesn't seem to be the issue, though, rather what it inspires people to do. It seems to me there are people hellbent on using their degrees in nonscientific fields in order to convince everyone they have some sort of deeper insight into society and how things ought to be done. They present themselves as scientists in order to do so. People see them using all this academic jargon and citing their biased studies that never would've been published had they come to the wrong conclusions and presume what they have to say must be valid. It can't be of course, there's literally no way to make an actual science out of politics and even if there was, people wouldn't be capable of the required willingness to actually disprove one's hypotheses. The average person doesn't think about all of this, of course, they take these scientists and scholars at face value. The illusion of these so-called soft sciences carrying the same kind of weight as actual sciences is the issue.

I used to feel the same way, until I saw reddit being overtaken by anti-white rhetoric. Now I don't believe in wokeness anymore, I don't think any of this SJW stuff was ever really about equality and creating a more harmonious society at all, it was about using race to pit the lower class against each other. None of these slimy activists give a fuck about anyone else, really, it's about dividing people even further so they can be pitted against one another. To make sure there will always be an underclass, and to keep people walking on eggshells around each other to make sure they don't end up being part of it. Now I want to see sites where everyone can speak. People should get used to the fact there is more than one way to view the world. You don't have to brainwash yourself to follow their rules in order to be allowed to express yourself. Seems like the woke cult are doing all they can to make it seem otherwise.

I don't see how "the feminist agenda" could possibly prevent this. The only thing men have ever, throughout history, contributed to child rearing is wealth. Now women can substitute and be independent which makes things better - children can now be kept away from the violent element that commits the vast majority of homicides and battery on not only strangers, but on their own families as well. Which would you rather have for the future generation - childhoods where their mothers and them are beaten but can't leave because of a lack of financial resources, or mothers with the freedom to stay or leave at their discretion.

No, surgeons do not wear N95 masks. https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/pdfs/UnderstandDifferenceInfographic-508.pdf

It's fine to say only the people at risk should wear those masks but at the end of the day they are going to be interacting with other people. A lot will be living with their families or in facilities with employees constantly coming and going. Not to mention no country seems to even have enough N95s for doctors let alone every old person in the country.

I find both sides of American politics equally repulsive tbh, so I can't say I'm either on the right or on the left. I hold opinions from both sides. I see politics as inherently sinister and I don't believe any politician gives a crap about "their people" anyway.

You should not strive for - evolutionarily speaking - some sort of utopian equality but for efficiency and intergenerational power accumulation.

Generally the power these days doesn't seem to be in the hands of white people anymore though...

So by ADL I'm presuming you mean the Anti Defamation League, a pro-Israel organization. I just recently watched a short video on youtube that documented the organizations of American Christians that are also pro-Israel. They were claiming that Jewish people moving to Israel would be necessary to trigger the return of Jesus Christ to Earth. Do you not believe this to be true? It seems strange that so many people in America would promote conspiracy theories about Jewish people while another group actively supports them in their efforts. All Christians believe in the same book, why the differing opinion on Israel and Jewish people?

Can you elaborate on what the consequences of specific liberal ideas are? I have my own views on this that don't quite match those on the American left either, but as a woman I could never agree with people who advocate for limiting my personal human rights back to what they used to be. I don't see this as being "selfish", but having a sense of self-preservation. Just because people who call themselves progressive aren't steering things into the direction I agree with doesn't mean we ought to go backwards. Maybe it's possible to come up with systems that are superior to those people had in the past. It's what tends to happen with technology, I don't see why political ideology couldn't work the same way.

Yes they should be at home, but they would also tell you they have the right to go whereever they want just as you have the right not to be muzzled by masks that don't work anyway - I guess surgeons just wear them for fashion purposes?

Why do you presume I'm personally afraid of anything? I'm not even American. I'm from one of those silly countries that are still currently allowed to travel for a summer holiday instead of being quarantined by the whole world. I feel so unfree and muzzled. Still, I don't like it when people with poorer health die from a preventable infection, even if I'm personally not at risk.

Getting infected by a virus is not a rare event though? In fact, it's pretty much guaranteed to happen if you get too close to someone who has it. Do you have a reason to believe someone coughing towards you without a mask would be more likely to not infect you?

So, you'd be okay with your surgeon not wearing a non N95 mask then? Because that's what I would consider daft, but you do you!

What do you think about the article's claim, though - that there's a correlation between intelligence and embracing novel ideas? Personally, I don't think the modern day American left embraces much of anything that goes against their ideology, but they do seem to be all for embracing the outgroup - foreigners and people of different races. On the other hand, you could argue that political ideology is what defines the new outgroup, and leftists are definitely not embracing them.

That's funny you would say that, because there was a time when it was the exact opposite - liberals were for free speech and religious people were clutching pearls over everything anyone said that went against their personal ideology.

Do you think the Bible supports free thinking and free speech?

Say you are worried about people being armed, so you propose a rule where people need to be patted down before they can get on an airplane. But others then state that while you are free to get patted down, they have the right to refuse. Sure they do, but the issue is even one armed person on an airplane is going to be a problem for everyone. The sort of mask the average civilian has access to (I presume America still has a shortage of N95s) protects others from them, not the other way around - the mask on a surgeon serves to protect the patient from them, not the other way around. So there sort of is no point unless everyone wears them.
