We are probably going to need to crowdfund a new think tank—a multi-racial, multi-ethnic think tank that can obtain buy-in from various communities

almost like ... a federation?

maybe a sort of united body to manage coordination and cooperation between different states?

I'm assuming "cross and crescent" vs "morning star" refers to christianity and islam vs judaism as "the synagogue of satan".

Regarding "morning star":

"luci" (light) - "fer" (carry) means "lightbringer" Lucifer was a Latin name for the planet Venus, which is sometimes visible before dawn. Lucifer was also a pre-Christian deity, and was the son of the dawn goddess Aurora.

The name has been used a few different ways in Christianity.

I miss when the rules applied evenly to everybody -- "treat everyone with respect" -- and there weren't all these special interest groups that got special consideration. I don't like it when people don't treat me respectfully in discourse whether it's because of a protected class attribute or not.

I think I can see why white men are so bothered by all this. They're at the top of the "hierarchy of oppression" ... they have to give special treatment to everyone else but everybody else gets to treat them badly.

not all the people out there protesting police misconduct are associated with Marxisism, BLM, Antifa and such

I suppose so. But I think those people are probably being taken advantage of. I saw a video (maybe from here on SaidIt) that showed the somewhat stark difference between what the leadership states they're fighting for and what the average protestor thinks they're protesting. It just really looks to me like this stuff was organized in advance of George Floyd's death death by people with an agenda, to serve that agenda. I think standing against what they're doing is important too. I think people who are interested in protesting police brutality, genuinely, and not the rest of what these people stand for, should organize something that's very clearly separate.

And, respectfully, it seems a bit of an exaggeration to say that "hey protestors, whoever happen to be interested in an article for protestors right at this time, here's something that will help you help you evade accountability" isn't a direct act of support for the current protests going on, effectively providing support for all that they stand for and are doing.

I think police reform and accountability would be great too. I've thought so for a while. I was already on board before all this started -- but I am not on board with looting and destruction ostensibly in the name of improving police accountability! This is absurd, and it is also highly racialized, and unnecessarily racialized.

And I really don't think it's what the neo-massmurdering-communist movement you're talking about is actually about. They state that they are "trained marxists". They have ALREADY perpetrated violent acts. They have ALREADY stated they are willing to do "anything necessary".

I don't think it's arguable that they are a violent, oppressive group built on a movement with a more violent history than naziism. Like, I don't think that's arguable, at all. That's what you're supporting when you support this.

Now you might say violence is justified, which it sounds like is the road you're starting down with "but the state does it too", but that doesn't change the fact that you're advocating violence.

yep. they openly say they will use "any means necessary" ... not sure how this fits with SaidIt's policies against violence. It's not instructions or a call to violence itself, but it is a direct act of support to a group that promotes and uses violence.

But yeah proper conduct is more what I'm going for.

I think maybe the phrase I'm looking for is "good cop".

Any single example leaves people with a bit of a strange impression though, imo, it's a bit propagandistic either way. We should be gathering information about individual departments accountability information and making that easily accessible so it's easy for the general public to hold the departments accountable, and for everyone to recognize successful practices and learn from them, and for everyone to recognize poor practices and phase them out.

Maybe that could be called "policeaccountability".

I'd say identity studies aren't real academics by virtue of lacking rigor, lacking consistent models, and being unable to do studies that produce reproducible results. At best identity studies is a laundry list of gripes, with associated labels. Even soft sciences and humanities try to be something other than pure opinion, they do more than create mere labels and pretend it is useful knowledge.

well, idk about rigor, there have been some studies done about transgender stuff... though honestly this transgender stuff is what made me kinda start to question science more because it really just doesn't seem right to me even if the numbers are there. and there has afaik been anthropological work done in other cultures and in western subcultures, that's just descriptive and can be plenty rigorous.

I never really took the identity stuff for humanities (though one humanities class I took I later remembered when reading lists of subversive frankfurt school authors.) so I don't really know what's in there and how it compares to other humanities stuff.

could well have escaped. They were protecting the public by stopping him. We can't live in a society where you get to go free if you can beat a cop in hand to hand combat

I guess I disagree with this... I don't think you can just shoot suspects if you don't manage to capture them properly. I think the question is whether he shot to stop him getting away (not ok for police to do imo), or whether he shot in self defense because the taser was being pointed at him (ok imo).

I would like to see police corruption addressed, and even today cops deny that they are corrupt. With that kind of attitude from the entire establishment there really is no other option than trying to smash the system and start over.

I'm reluctant to agree that "smashing the system" is going to be productive. I'm happy if it gets addressed though, but riots like this should not be encouraged or bowed to. Surely there are decisive actions that can be taken to fix these things that are not "smash stuff".

I predict that BLM will use this to inflame racial tensions until the elections so that the DNC can continue with their tired old troupe of "Democrats are for minorities and Republicans are for whites"

fuck them. fuck this whole circus. it's un-American and parasitic on the American people. We've had enough.

we spent the whole time making fun of them and doing the equivalent of posting on /s/cringeanarchy instead of actually taking care of things like we were supposed to. "ooooh don't worry they're not a real threat".

Also we genuinely value the freedom of speech and exploration. How exactly do you say something "isn't real academics?" Somebody chose those people to be faculty, does that mean people have to admit they did something wrong? Is it really not academic when compared to other humanities stuff? Did people just get obsessed with uplifting people because they thought they had too much and wanted to share? Did people get duped? Did people get arrogant? Did people get too novelty-seeking?

I don't think this is the right model either. I think a lot of this stuff may be an attack on white westerners but I really bristle at the gov't regulating what universities can and can't teach, whether through law or financial incentives/disincentives.

And there probably is room for discussing gender, honestly. Things have changed somewhat, recently, with women able to work, with birth control and abortion, with cosmetic and less cosmetic procedures available for people to alter themselves, with fertility treatments and artificial insemination. With self-determination available in the US -- the possibilities of which are vast. There was a time when all of this stuff was less militant and was just tumblr kids ideating among themselves about what they want to be. It is futurist in a way. Innovative. It's a topic worth discussing, or at least ok to discuss, and fairly relevant right now. The way it's become dogmatic and about forcing people to accept whatever, that's what I don't like.

Thanks for passing on the warning. Lots of people fall for these things... we should have something better for people in that situation I feel. So people have a safer place to go that won't take advantage of them where they're less likely to get preyed on.

I think we can make environments more optimized for learning and contribution than what I grew up with at least, but hopefully it's improved. I like the way I learn in video games, I know that sounds silly, but it feels very natural and unforced, and it's completely at my own pace and in my own way. It doesn't feel stressful or forced.

I feel a little skeptical of stuff attacking the educational institution though, he seems hostile and "liberation" is a bit subversive. Not a fan of being encouraged to be subversive, just fix or replace stuff if it needs fixing or replacing.

let's eat there. BLM is a terrorist organization using the threat of violence to force others to do what they want, obviously it creates a hostile work environment and the manager who fired them did the right thing. let's make sure they know it.

When I was a kid I was so hard headed only force could make me comply - and I loathe to think of what a shitty human being I'd have ended up being if my parent's handed occasionally broken down and physically forced me to stop being an asshole.

I don't like hurting kids, but I don't want to neglect disciplining them either if that's what will help... you feel this helped you? what happened?

also the content on here seems to be less casual silly fun stuff and more serious politics type stuff, so asksaidit reflects that too

Thanks for the reply... I'm also curious what changed your mind, and the other things I asked, but if you don't want to answer that's up to you.

I would like to see the displacement of European peoples in their own homelands halted and reversed too. I don't think it's right. A lot of people don't think it's right.

I feel somewhat angry at all the people who are just excited about going on a killing spree -- it seems so useless and counterproductive to me. White children are left unsupported, white men and women are left without good places to organize and learn to be excellent parents, anti-white bias is left to run rampant without correction, depravity taught in schools is left uncorrected. Genuinely peaceful and organizations are not formed (the aesthetics of charlottesville were militarized and hostile). Aid and organization for foreigners who would already like to repatriate is not organized. The drug problem in white communities in the US has not even been corrected. The situation is urgent, every last peaceful avenue should have been pursued well to exhaustion at this point, but it seems people would rather share pictures of cartoon frogs and use vulgar language and make enemies. Or kill people. But not actually just do the work to just fix things. How much more could all these spree killers have done if they'd actually devoted themselves lifelong to their people's survival, instead of just doing some one-off violent act?

I know I'm guilty of the same thing of "not doing nearly enough". So maybe this is a complaint to myself too.

Just wanted to share my own thoughts since we're on this topic, and maybe we share some common cause.

Thanks for sharing your take.

(but then it has to be admitted that tasers are dangerous enough to justify killing. Also when police use them.)

well tasers are meant to incapacitate, a hostile could them further harm an incapacitated person.

Didn't realize he kicked the guy after he was already incapacitated. I thought he was trying to fire the taser at the cop -- if he succeeded wouldn't that put the cop in mortal danger? If that's not what happened and he was just running away, it seems like a different situation. But if he was trying to tase the cop what else was he supposed to do to avoid getting killed in the line of duty?

I'd like to hear opinions on this. The police can do this because they're unionized, it seems, ... which is good from an employee wellfare standpoint. It doesn't seem good for officers to get away with murder on the job. Their job puts them in dangerous situations though and it seems like this was a dangerous situation. And I'm not sure what to make of this situation with Rayshard Brooks in the first place, not sure if the officer is guilty of misconduct or not.
