Awesome analysis! Going to have to give this movie a rewatch.

Calling mulan a man is so offensive. I thought cultural appropriation is supposed to be a bad thing? Then why the hell are these people taking a Chinese story and twisting it however they want??

Milan was one of the first movies I ever saw in theaters, and it's left such an impression on me, don't want anyone to change a single thing about it.

How will female handmaidens in Womens Studies feel if TiMs filled all the positions in that dept? by SanityIsGC in GenderCritical

The amount of transwomen in departments would have to reach critical mass before women start taking note. As of right now complaining a peep about it could completely end a woman's career.

Actual trained psychologists will at least make an effort to limit biased wording in questions, unlike OP.

In blatant display of misogyny, mod of /r/blatantmisogyny says you must be pro-trans, pro-sex work and pro-kink or else you are a misogynist by [deleted] in GenderCritical

What the fuck? Okay, so we can make critiques on a societal level (that women are socialized to take lower paying jobs even though ultimately it's to our detriment, etc.) but as soon as we try to critique sex work it's off limits? As if liking kink or sex work is WHOLLY a woman's choice and is absolutely NOT to ANY extent influenced by patriarchy? Get outta here.

As usual, in a societal crisis women are the ones who suffer most.

What do you do when there are trans women you actually like? by ImPiqued1111111 in GenderCritical

I don't personally know any trans people (as far as I'm aware), but if I had a trans friend I would treat them as their preferred gender. But to be honest, it'd be hard for me to see them that way. Like in my head I'd probably still refer to them as their bio sex, but obviously I wouldn't say that out loud.

Apparently TIMs never have male privilege even if they come out very late in life..... by bradjohnsonishere2 in GenderCritical

[–]coffeedrinker 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

This is what confuses me too. It's like a rich person who became poor later in life denying that they ever had class privilege. Just because they identify as women now doesn't mean people didn't perceive them as male, thereby providing them male privilege.

Woman is a dated and transphobic term by Chunkeeguy in GenderCritical

Even more ridiculous is when they say folx. Even though folks is already a gender neutral term. I will and always will continue to identify as woman, tyvm.

Intersectionalism is the worst thing to happen to feminism. by medium_tomato in GenderCritical

[–]coffeedrinker 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

What? This post is so nonsensical. Non-intersectional feminism ignores the plight of poor women, WoC, queer women, etc. This was a major criticism of 1st and 2nd wave feminisms - why do you think such a term was needed in the first place? you can criticize lib feminism, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Radical feminism is failing because it’s too racist by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]coffeedrinker 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed racism is sometimes swept under the rug even in feminist movements. Like how the GC sub would have white women crying over the term "Karen", even though it referred specifically to a brand of white woman who weaponized their whiteness to step over others. You can subscribe to some radfem ideas without identifying yourself as part of the movement. That's what I do, and I'm a WoC.
