Yeah it’s absolutely a thing where people in tech and STEM will look down on those who are poor. Outside of GC spaces I’ve also been seeing some frustrations towards well off people (in tech again lol) writing opinion pieces that they assumed would resonate with the poor. It appears to be a wider issue with people in rich privileged positions thinking that they speak for everyone. I also have my criticisms with tech (and think everyone should be against it becoming more of a dominating feature). I don’t doubt that women on Ovarit or that radical feminists can’t be racist but there actually have been a bit of infiltration from TRAs recently. Someone confessed about a week ago and they got banned. There was a thread about some women noticing weird posts/down voting.

OVARIT SUCKS by akkordeonplayer in GenderCritical

[–]cinnaflo 14 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I do think it’s dumb when mods delete threads when it doesn’t follow the guidelines to the T but this isn’t new within forum communities and it’s pretty normal. You do make good points with how some of the circles are too similar/can overlap though, and I do think that should be brought up. Also there’s censorship on Ovarit because there are TRA lurkers who screenshot posts and upload them on Reddit to criticize and make fun of, and its important that we don’t give them a reason to further smear us as white supremacists or have calls for Ovarit to be taken down (which is absolutely possible, and something TRAs have been trying to make happen by having the public think we’re alt right). Normal onlookers get told that TERFs are violent/hateful white supremacists, but when they see these types of screenshots or if they do decide to check Ovarit, they’ll realize how manipulative and untrustworthy TRAs actually are and will begin questioning them.

Before GC reddit got banned, I also used to felt the focus on TIMs was really annoying/overwhelming, it came to the point where the entire front page was all about TIMs and memes. I originally joined GC to find a community discussion on feminism that focused on women/ oppression of poor women, but they became rarer as the subreddit grew. The places I liked to visit, the people I interacted, the topic of transgenderism/ people who were trans didn’t even make a blip outside of GC spaces (and unless it was LGBT related, which being a bisexual GC I hated anyways). I didn’t get why some women were so upset about TIMs because I never saw any of it happening around me. But now I’m seeing them in TV shows, video games, comics, niche hobby communities, feminist/women’s health orgs, and now more in political positions, being mentioned by my senators/governors, on the news speaking about their transition, in sports, and having law policies being changed to accommodate them while hurting women’s rights. They’re growing and are everywhere now, and I get the frustration.

The problem is when YOUR movement has made it so that transwomen (AKA trans identified males) are to be accepted as women even if they make ZERO effort to pass and are indistinguishable from any regular man, that even if/when a “cis” man decides to pretend to be trans, WE can’t even question it unless we’re are called hateful/transphobic. The problem is when your movement makes it easier for predatory men to take advantage of women, and then when we raise those concerns, you throw us under the bus in order to shut us up.

Exactly, keep standing up for yourself! Unless you're actually dysphoric/trans I don't see why everyone else should be putting down pronouns when they're not even dysphoric or trans...? Seriously like what are you even trying to normalize?? It's already assumed that if you're a woman you'll use she/her pronounces and vice versa and if people get it wrong, you just correct them. It's just pandering to the TRAs at this point. Also aren't people who aren't dysphoric putting down pronouns like "they/them, ze/zir" etc just making things more difficult for everyone else including people who are trans? Who even has time to remember all this?? No one!

[–]cinnaflo 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I just finished listening to this podcast, I think it's really interesting that Katie thinks this whole trans movement had gotten so big because it's become trendy, and I honestly think she's right. Although transgenderism did originate from actual conversion therapy and probably people with genuine gender dysphoria, people who weren't dysphoric (non binaries/ transtrenders) decided to take it and ran off with it. Before I became gender critical, I actually debated on using he/him/they pronouns even though I was a girl (16 then, I'm older and an adult now), and calling myself "queer", and even top surgery, just because people in the LGBT (and a few of my peers) were doing it. It really is a social contagion, and that's what's really terrifying.

I know of one female catered sub that is radfem leaning/has quite a bit of radfems in it, but the sub doesn’t coddle or support transgenderism (it’s not a radfem sub and has been around for some time). While it’s true that a lot of terfy subs get the axe anyway, it is possible for these types of communities to thrive, and its only because they’ve been kept unknowingly from TRAs to ban for so long.

Some alternatives for febfem maybe:

Add “Bi” and then one of the following:

W4W (women for women)

W4L (women for life)

Or if you’re a bi dude and only want relationships with men, it would be:

Add “Bi” and then one of the following:

M4M (men for men)

M4L (men for life)

Preference for women/men:

Add “Bi” and then one of the following:

W leaning (women)/ M leaning (men/male)

For bis without a preference, tbh I can’t really think of anything other than just “no preference”.

You never see her in dresses or skirts nowadays, and the ones where she is, are a decade old or more. And even during those times, she styled very plainly, her makeup and hair too, unlike other celebrities who went out of their way to look glamorous, in sparkles and florals. Transgenderism is unnatural because gender is a social construct and hating your body to the point of wanting to chop parts of it off is a mental disorder. You need to remember that right wing people don’t like transgenderism for reasons different from ours. Their arguments range from their Christian beliefs (“God doesn’t make mistakes/Mutilating your body is an act against God” to traditional sexism, “women are supposed to like feminine things, men are supposed to want to be masculine”). Of course there are some reasons that overlap with gender critical ideas like “people being GNC doesn’t make them the opposite sex”. But that doesn’t make radical feminism right wing, not one bit.

Currently within the trans movement, there are tucutes and transmeds, both of which hate each other, but both are for transgenderism for different reasons. Tucutes think being GNC, women wanting to be masculine and men wanting to be feminine is all it takes to make someone trans/non-binary. That there’s no need for gender dysphoria, and that as long as you get ””gender euphoria”” for being GNC, you are trans. It’s stupid as hell. Transmeds argue that you need gender dysphoria to be trans. These people, I believe have some kind of mental disorder (and I don’t mean that as an insult, I mean that these people actually need serious attention and care). If you are a bio female, and you feel like you should have a male body, a penis instead, and wish to remove your breasts, then you are trans. They also believe in sexist gender roles the same way that tucutes do, such as playing barbie dolls as a young boy makes you a girl inside, and having stereotypical “boy hobbies” as a girl makes you a boy inside. Transmeds argue that you actually have to want to go through surgeries and have a desire to pass to be trans. For tucutes, transgenderism is a purely a cosmetic thing, while for transmeds, it’s about getting rid of gender dysphoria (a mental disorder).

(By enforcing heteronormativity in bisexuals, of course, as a way to “dispel” the stigma. They are still wildly homophobic though.) I don’t agree with them, but it still counts as supporting bisexuals, to a degree... The LG generally do not want anything to do with bisexuals unless they connect with them on their same sex attracted side, but I wouldn’t say they go out of their way to support us specifically.

4) Uplift bisexual people, remove stigmas that shame a bisexual’s opposite sex attraction, but at the same time, DON’T call a bisexual’s preference for the same sex as “internalized biphobia” 🙂🙂🙂. Invest in support communities that help bisexuals who struggle with depression, unhealthy coping behaviors, and sexual abuse. Call out misogynistic/biphobic straight men who use bisexual women as sex objects, and straight women who perpetuate it. Call out gays who make harmful blanket statements about bisexuals with terms like “bislut, breeder, dick worshipper (women)”, and among other things I won’t be listing. Right now bisexuals are doing whatever they can to call themselves anything but “bisexual” and none of this is helping. Inform people that bisexuals are a varied group. Both sides need to stop with the misogyny and in reducing us to sex objects.

5) Call out homophobia among both straights and bisexuals who enforce/perpetuate it. Don’t claim to be gay when you’re not, or that gay/straight people’s sexuality can change if they just tried hard enough. Make your own communities instead of latching onto gay specific only spaces. Acknowledge that being in a straight relationship gives you some privileges that gay people don’t or won’t ever have. Speak up against transgenderism, and against straight people (transbians and fujoshis) who shame/guilt trip gays into sex. Transgenders love bullying gay people, but when a bisexual says they don’t want to date transgenders or that they don’t see transgenders as their “identities”, this will make people question the authenticity of their movement.

Except a Pokémon isn’t trying to fuck you, so that was a stupid comparison. Why do they always make wildly different comparisons to two unrelated things like that??

“LesbianOutlaw” is a TIM, someone pointed this out in another past thread.

Oh yeah definitely, I didn’t hang out with the gender crowd in art communities back then and was kind of more of a lurker. I joined a wlw fandom discord recently and it’s so wild with how almost everyone is using terms like “non binary”, “ace”, “trans femme”... and even worse “trans butch”. I’ve always thought I was a weirdo growing up being into things that weren’t the mainstream, but never in my life did I feel like such a ‘normie’ there lol. And yeah GC artists exist but most keep it to themselves.

I used to paint digitally as a hobby but I pretty much fell out of it after some time. I do look into the art community once in awhile (Twitter and IG), and yeah transgenderism is everywhere there (I think more than any other place aside from LGB spaces). Fandom, anime, anything geeky or artsy especially, that’s where trans stuff congregate. I do know a few gender critical artists, but the only ones I know who are publicly GC are: Lesbihonest.art, redkatherinee, and Tatsuya Ishida.
