Both: When did you first learn about the existence of transgender people? by worried19 in GCdebatesQT

Pretty sure I learned what trans people were from de Phil or one of those types of shows. I used to pray to wake up a boy before I slept when I was young. I remember doing that at 7 years old and I must have realized what trans people are at 9 or 10 from one of those awful shows. I read everything I could about it after that but then tried to block it out of my mind as much as possible because I really didn't want to be trans.

GC: Do you believe women who voluntarily prostitute themselves should go to jail or be charged? by Genderbender in GCdebatesQT

[–]burninglikeabridge 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Why do you care so much if women are making "big bucks"?

I dont like the word prostitution, most women are being sexually exploited in one way or another. But if someone doesn't want to stop doing something jail isn't going to help them magically change their mind.

I find the obsession with being hairless kind of creepy. Reminds me of preubescence.

What do you do with your body hair? If you don't mind sharing.

Only in private. I enjoyed it but I felt the shame in public and around certain people (my mom was one of them). I grew some facial hair before HRT thanks to the Italian in me and I'd get my face waxed regularly, as well as my legs and armpits. Eventually that did start to take a big toll on my self esteem and mental health. That lasted maybe a year before I said fuck it and decided to just be hairy and start to not care what society was saying about my body hair. Year later I figured out that I'm trans and my body hair is now envied by other men, lol. Society is a weird place.

After some time on T my clit definitely has gotten more penis like things but at the end of the day if it quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, and walks like a duck... its probably a duck. Or a vagina in my case.

I think there is a difference to a certain extent, at least in some families.

I also don't think socialization ever ends, its just less "girls/boys dont do that, they do this" and more subtle.

Yeah, thats why harm reduction isn't perfect. It's meant to reduce harm but can sometimes cause more harm.

I grew up roman catholic. Never realized other religions were a thing until I moved to Canada even though half my family is Jewish. At 8 or 9 is when I realized there were other religions and what religion was, i thought it was just how everyone was. I was never a very religious person, my family believes in God and all that but the only one who regularly went to church and was more religious was my grandpa.

I had to clean the school on many weekends for questioning God and specifically I remember really being bothered by Jesus being reincarnated. I was not having it as a kid, it didn't make sense to me. I think my higher power is mother nature now.

I think it would be harm reduction for sure and not to prevent people from doing BDSM. At the end of the day people are going to do it anyways, i think refusing to acknowledge it hurts more than helps.

Proper education would be learning about a healthy dominant/submissive relationship, the after care for both parties, learn about abuse and what that looks like, consent, and then also how to safely practice BDSM and the risks associated with certain acts and how to best prevent harm. For people over 18, i don't think this should be taught at schools. Besides the consent, abuse signs, and safe sex part of it, that should be taught better in schools.

Then no, most of the time no. But at the end of the day I can't tell people what to do so I do think proper education on BDSM and relationships is really important.

It depends on how you define violent acts. I'd draw a very hard line at any sort of rape play, body fluids, spitting on someone for example, slapping someone, hard choking especially to the point of passing out and i dont think id be ok tying someone up either. Not ok to cut someone. So I guess my short answer is not always.

How do you define "violent acts"?

Wow. Never stumbled across that page before, thats very sad to see.

I dated a girl who was really into BDSM and being submissive. But I remember her telling me that its just as important to her that we cuddle after and have room to talk about any feelings that arise so the relationship stays balanced. And never have any BDSM things leak into our relationship outside the bedroom. That 24/7 BDSM relationship is something I never understood.

I worry that predatory people use BDSM as a way to abuse women without facing repercussions. I was just thinking about this the other day. But not that rapists and sexual offenders face that many consequences in society for their behavior anyways, but now you can just claim BDSM. Thats what the toybox killer claimed, the women consented and it was just BDSM.

That men don't cry or can't like "girly" things. That men can't be "soft" and kind.

I started spending time with men who were more like me and that really helped. I hung out with my friends brother who is in his 30s and that really helped. Guys in their 20s are usually still working through that stuff themselves too. At least the ones around me. I think my job also helps though.
