Anyone who cares about who actually "won" the election is the real dupe. They're both playing for the same team. And the real traitors are all of us who participate in the circus that legitimizes the process. If we all didn't vote, and instead called for a general strike on election day, then there would be no way we'd be having this silly conversation. The reason we are is because people do vote for this person or that person. You participate and therefore you legitimize. If all of us were protesting on election day instead of voting and Biden got 20 votes and Trump got 10 then the whole process would be illegitimate. See what I'm saying here? But because we are mostly compelled to vote for one or the other, and not given a chance to abstain or vote against the legitimacy of the process itself, the only other option is to not vote at all. Voting legitimizes the process, period.

This isn't true. Look at Derek Brozes research among others although his is the most in depth. This 5g thing with coronas only came about because wuhan is saturated with 5g already but if you look at other examples like Houston for instance they had 5g a year or two before conoras hit. There are many other examples like that. To play devil's advocate maybe they change the signal after putting in the towers or w.e, or maybe it takes time idk, but the fact is a lot of cities had 5g before this coronas thing hit. I would say rich countries are the ones with money to buy PCR tests and a more centralized society in general to administer those tests hence why they have more cases and deaths.

Turn off the TV my friend and see through the paradigm. This technocratic takeover we're experiencing is nothing like anything we've seen in the past. The two party political theater is just that, theater. Both parties, both presidents, all those in club are all pushing towards a common idea of how society should be structured & how it should function. No matter if they are blue donky or a red elephant. The quicker you see that the easier time you'll have seeing this for what it really is.

Some of the biggest contributors on this site, including the dude who created it, don't follow their own stupid pyramid. If someone is being unconstructive in a debate or just being rude, ignorant, etc., Then just stop debating with that person. Why do we need the pyramid Gestapo to come in a be daddy and mommy for us. Just stop debating. Block the person or w.e. Its super simple and puts the responsibility on the individual instead of a bug brother type authority.

Covid only kills 2% of those who are able to catch it. What a slacker of a plague. by [deleted] in bitcoin

[–]astronautrob 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

That's a scary thought when you put it like that but we all know that all 8 billion people won't contract it so those numbers are a bit dramatic. We also know that that 2% rate is going to come down as more people contract COVID and recover from it, which most people are. The deaths are in a very select group of people, older people or people with underlying health conditions. The Spanish flu killed a much bigger segment of the population, and strangely enough killed a lot of people between the ages of 20-40. Perfectly healthy people would contract the Spanish for and could die within 24-48hrs. Again, this is not happening with this novel COVID. It's a big difference. We also know COVID has been the most tracked virus in history. We know the reporting of deaths from COVID is extensive and has been under some scrutiny. Those factors would also effect the mortality rate. If we had the kind of reporting and technology that we have now during the Spanish flu who knows what the mortality rate would have been. Definitely much higher though we can say that for certain. Look I'm not trying to be crass, in the grand scheme of things everyone matters of course but to throw numbers out like 160mil is disingenuous. It won't kill that many, it won't even get close. When looking at countries other than the US or Italy, which has been plastered all over the mainstream media, we can see that the mortality rate isn't even close to that number. It's funny what the masses get scared about, and it's funny how the government knows which buttons to push. This contagion button pushing has been very interesting to watch.

Put the phone or computer away and don't pay attention to it for awhile. They want you to feel like you don't have control but we do. We could stop all this if we could just not rely so heavily on our phones and internet. But alas it is what I am using right this moment to express this idea. Technology is the mode of control for the technocracy. How do we organize without it? We can't beat them at their own game we gotta do something different. Stop buying shit off Amazon, find local meat, eggs, etc., Start a garden if possible. Get rain barrels. Just do whatever you can right now with what you have. But also idk bro tbh. Are you really going to say that if someone breaks a rule then banning them from a platform, or anything at all, is not the same as censorship? So if you break rules on YouTube or Reddit or any other platform and they ban you, do you not consider that censorship? I really would like to know where you stand on this. If it is a yes and you do think platforms should have the ability to censor people if they break a rule does the same apply for everyday life in your belief? People who break societal rules, should they be banned from society (so to speak)? I'm not trying to troll here I would like to know your belief on this. This is what is happening in our society today, people wanting other people "banned" from society for not following the rules, a.k.a not getting the shot, not wearing a mask, etc. These are rules that are set or being set, should it be ok for people to be ostracized or banned from society because they didn't follow those rules? I'm in no way saying it's left or right, when I say the other side I'm not speaking in political terms I'm speaking strictly in a one side versus the other side no matter the context. What you do to the one side can be done to both, that's all I'm saying. So if we start banning people because they are "breaking the rules", instead of taking another avenue, then what happens when someone takes over saidit and makes new rules? The precedent is already set that we ban people who don't follow the rules. That precedent will stay even if the rules change. You see what I'm saying? Censorship is never the answer no matter the reasoning.

In addition, I would say overall people on saidit are far less inclined to be fooled by the right/left, red/blue paradigm that we are fed, and more inclined to see the reality of the situation. With that fact in mind I think it would be you who is actually better off going back to Reddit where people will actually debate with you about political topics. Nothing, the president doesn't have any real power. Everything would proceed according to the story, nothing would change. People think the president has all this power but he's just a character in a much larger narrative that more powerful people are trying to play out on a much larger scale.

A lot of level minded people discuss things on saidit. If you see that as being afraid then yes I guess you would think a lot of people on said are afraid of this or that.

Idk if being aware of something, and discussing that topic, is the same as being afraid of something. Other than when covid first started, I have not seen a lot of users who have been on saidit for an extended period of time act or seem afraid of anything in particular. Of course you have those you dramatic and what not, but honestly I see way more fear from "alt right" or "alt left " people than any middle of the road types you'll find here on saidit. A bit of projecting maybe?

Feel the same. Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong but last time I checked a couple days ago there has been roughly 160000 confirmed cases 75000 recovered and roughly 5000 have died. Am I wrong with these numbers? This seems like a very small amount on top of most of these people dieing are 70+ right? I'm not trying to be dismissive I'm genuinely interested in what people find scary about this virus. Didn't 2009 swine flu infect something like 60mil in US alone, killing some 13000 or something? Again if these numbers are wrong please please someone correct me. Feel crazy trying to figure out what everyone is so terrified about. SaidIt Survey: Ban /u/socks and /u/ActuallyNot or keep them around? by JasonCarswell in AskSaidIt

[–]astronautrob 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

The idea that Saidit needs to be "saved" is not something I subscribe to so I can't answer that question. Saidit seems fine to me. The front page is relatively clean, diverse sub-saidits represented, not a lot of stuff I'd consider straight up spam, w.e, etc. It's certainly a lot better than it was a couple months ago when it seemed like other people where in charge (Ironleft gang or w.e). I mean weren't they trying to ban you or someone else for the same things? Granted they maybe didn't change the rules (Idk I didn't pay that much attention) but they seemed to reinterpret the rules so they could ban people because they were "breaking the rules". So it's funny that you try to discredit the idea of someone taking over saidit, because that's pretty much exactly what happened in that situation. Maybe it wasn't that overt but one group did get a lot of sway here on saidit, isn't that right? I mean come on that happened don't try and act like it's crazy to suggest it happening again and even on a bigger scale. It's not about being flexible for anyone, it's about enforcing censorship for any reason at all. I don't support censorship, or rules that try and enforce censorship, w.e you want to say. You can say I'm confusing censorship with any Orwellian term you like, but again that's just semantics. Banning = censorship, period.

You think socks is A.I.? Or some paid shill from some three letter company? Maybe, but it also might be that it's a person who leads a sad and boring life while getting dopamine hits from arguing with people on a semi (maybe?) popular website and if y'all didn't engage him/her, they would have nothing to do. The fact that you don't have the self control to just not engage with an individual is childish. Trying to use an excuse like the block feature doesn't work, or is "incomplete", is silly. You have the ability to ignore someone if you want, it just takes a little self control.

Is that called gaslighting or something? Either way, clickbait sucks and I don't know if it's necessarily required for self-promotion. Do what you do though my brother, I hope it works out for you. [–]astronautrob 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Look here's a great thought experiment/example. Think of a graph with certain weapons on it. Bullets, rockets, bayonets, mines, swords, pikes, w.e, etc., Etc. This list would also include nuclear bombs right? That graph would probably look a lot similar. Maybe swords, pikes etc. on top. Maybe bullets and rockets outpace those things. But my point is nuclear bombs would probably be waaaaay at the bottom right? Are they safer than other weapons? Idt anyone would say they were. I think that's a good analogy to this graph. Yes nuclear power has been safer over time, which is one way to measure "safety", but the amount of damage it can do has to be taken in to account.

Nuclear is one of the safest energy sources, contrary to public belief. by useless_aether in ClimateSkeptics

[–]astronautrob 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Nuclear energy is of course very safe till it's not. Look at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. They still are dumping radioactive waste in the Pacific. They still don't have it under control. So yes nuclear energy is safe but when something goes wrong it goes really wrong. That's not the case so much with other forms of energy. A coal plant blowing up is not going to possibly wipe out the entire population, etc. The consequences of a nuclear accident are much greater than any of the other forms of energy listed on this chart. So maybe a better way to look at it would be possible deaths or degrees of destruction if something were to happen. On top of that most of these other forms of energy have been around a lot longer so it would make sense they would have higher deaths just because.

But it won't keep going up because everyone is not like Italy. The mortality rate will go down as more people recover, that's a fact. It is not a fact to saying getting COVID raises your chances of death by 54%, that's silly. Again, it doesn't take in to account things like age, which is a huge factor. Are you saying a 20 who gets COVID and a 80 year old both raise their chances of death by 54%? Again silly math. I won't dispute the fact people are dieing of COVID but age is a huge factor. For the most part it's not killing younger/middle aged healthy people. The people who are dieing from COVID are moslty older people and people with underlying health conditions. COVID has been one of the most "tracked" viruses in history, if not the most. The reporting of COVID deaths has been had some questions marks, doctors bring told to report cod as COVID even if there was no test done, etc. Those are both facts. But even putting those aside common sense would tell you that if any of the previous "pandemics" we're tracked as closely as this one has been the mortality probably would have looked a lot worse than it did. 3.5% mortality rate is not outrageous, especially when it's so segregated to one part of the population. But all that is a digression from my original point. Our original debate was about the 54% being arbitrary, which in using only a select data set makes it so. Trying to change the window to be about mortality rate doesn't make that fact any less true.

The problem comes in when the "disease" is in fact not a public health concern, anymore than the reg flu, any other novel strain of flue, hunger, suicide, etc., Etc., Is and the government is using the crisis to take away freedoms. That can be veiled in the cloak of "public health" but it doesn't negate the fact that constitutional rights are basically being taken away for a boogie man. Similar to the cold war scare, 9/11, etc., These are moments that the gov deemed necessary to take away rights, enact "temporary" powers never are given back. The "reason" they deem necessary for taking these rights away is irrelevant. It doesn't matter. It will always change from one boogie man to the next. Right now it Corona, tomorrow it will be something else the 24 hour news cycle will tell you is important to pay attention to.
