That's the thing. I have Israeli friends, male and female. They like video games. They smoke weed. They're lazy, docile, socially insecure, very chilled, very harmless people, just like my other friends. But when it comes to Palestine, it's not even a question. It BELONGS to Israel. Like, it's not even an argument. Like, to them, the concept of this is Palestine...and this is Israel, does not friggin exist!

So, from this small, anecdotal, close-to-home insight that I have into the psyche of Israeli's, my problem is, how in the hell are we ever going to convince the whole of Israel (especially the big boys at the top) to stop ruining the party? Know what I mean?

Hmm...

So they failed at North Korea. They sort of failed at South China Sea and Taiwan. They probably will fail at Syria chemical attack...now this.

Looks like somebody's feening for war....and looks like they ain't getting their fix so easily this time...

They lied about the reasons to go in to Iraq, why wouldn't they also lie about Syria to get the war they want? -- Also this exact "sarin gas" foot in the door was tried in both 2013 and 2016 by magnora7 in WorldNews

These people are desperate for a war now. I don't know about you guys, but I have this feeling for a while now that 'they' have lost a lot of power in the past few years, and what's left of 'them' are going full desperate mode now, with all the shit they've been trying to pull.

I kind of agree with what they say, but I question their intentions. It feels virtue signal-ish to me, but that could be my bias (probably is my own bias).

But dam, I can't even imagine a solution to the Israel-Palestine dilemma. It seems so tangled up, and both sides are riled up for the last half century so much that I genuinely don't see a peaceful way out.

Oh you should check out Tony, Mr. Magnora. It's not just about food. He gets real philosophical sometimes, and always digs deep into the crevices of a culture. Like the effects of war in a forgotten place like Laos, and how that effects the current day people's attitude, culture...and food! Here's another place he went that got pretty real: Liberia. When did a food TV host ever go to a place...like friggin Liberia!?

But it's not always far from home either. Sometimes, he takes you into the absolute nitty gritty of the restaurant industry's subculture, and exposes any pretence of glamour.

And if nothing else, Tony himself is never boring...nor is he a performing seal. He knows what he is and keeps it that way; a cynical, yet humble, burnt-out New York chef, with a burning curiosity for knowledge of cultures.

A new media trend I've noticed: Any questioning of the legitimacy of the Sarin Gas attacks in Syria is prefaced by "Russians say that..." by magnora7 in MediaAnalysis

I've said this before to my friends, mass media, especially Western media, is a weapon. Sure, I read about it before, about how the media can lie sometimes. Like most modern millennials, I half brushed it off, half don't care because life was too busy. Until one day it happened to my old country.

When the current Thai military junta took power back earlier this decade, I was there, and my god, my people were REJOICING. They were thanking the gods and praising this man (the prime minister) for having the balls to say no to false democracy and do what needed to be done.

Now, I actually don't really care much about Thailand's politics, nor do I have the complete knowledge of the whole situation, nor do I support (or not support) the junta. But I saw the people rejoicing, and saw the corrupt elites being ousted one by one (still to this day), and I saw the long delayed economic and infrastructure projects starting up again (half of all villages in the country now have broadband, and the other half will have it by 2019, as an example).

But what do I see from Western Media? Oh, Thailand is now under brutal military dictatorship, with no free speech, the poor become slaves of the rich blah blah blah.

Ok, Thailand is not perfect, and it does have a lot of work to do, like decades or may be a whole generation worth of work. But let me tell you this; Thai people, just like the people under the 'brutal authoritarian regime of China', are living much happier lives than us here in the West, and definitely nothing like the media portrays.

So interesting to see the guys at r/the_donald eats his stuff up hook, line and sinker, just like how the guys on r/politics eats up CNN and opinion pieces from Huffington or Buzzfeed. People say they like to divide and conquer...well, I have to admit, 'they' are pretty dam good at what they do.
