I would agree, except he does make some interesting posts. Some of his older audio posts added a lot of interesting content. I'm not going to psychoanalyze Ed other than his sense of humor doesn't translate sometimes, but I don't see his posts as drowning out the overall talk here. As other's have said, us active users should try to add more interesting content. I've seen some posts take off that I didn't think would, and I've seen some I thought were discussion worthy drift off without a comment.

I will add that I've seen some phishing going on here trying to triangulate user data, so be careful how much info you give around here.

The magistrate is using her authority to make up her own rules. I have some phone numbers to go above her, but that's a last resort. The real estate law here says that a month-to-month lease is valid and also verbal contracts are as good as written. It clearly says in the lease that it goes month-to-month with the same rules, which includes keeping the place clean. I have done all I can to help her move but she is refusing. The law also says that I have to do repairs even if she is behind on the rent. However, if the water pipes just happen to come loose in the basement while I'm checking on the HVAC, I think I would have an excuse not to get it repaired since she's not paying rent.

The problem is that the rules here can be arbitrary. I have refrained from commenting because so many have already put into words, better than me, how I feel about the matter. Is one comment calling someone a name breaking the rules? What about calling someone a name while making an argument? What about using "debate" to work users into a frenzy? I think we each have a responsibility to discriminate which comments are genuine and which are from shills or trolls; whether for fun or profit. As u/Basghetti touched on: if you can prove they are actively trying to wreck the site and shutter discussion here, then that would be an open-and-shut case for banning, in my opinion.

How I deal with users I think are bad actors or have a mental issue? I don't block them. I glance over their comments and don't give them much credence. The replies to those comments can be more insightful on how others react. Truth be told, it frustrates me sometimes how worked up you can get in those conversations.
