A new classic.

President Biden pardons his son Hunter Biden
Zapped 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun 2 days ago

Joe Biden is basically admitting that Hunter committed crimes back then. At the very least, he is admitting that he did some shady stuff that could get him in trouble.

Can you pardon someone for future conviction?

I thought they gained experience in other wars like the Spanish Civil War. I guess I need to read up.

Weren't Germany's troops battled-hardened before WWII?

It's a good way to break your wrist if you could hold on.

Would you give the electric company access to your house to shut off your hot water heater whenever they wanted? ~ They sent me an email telling me it's a great idea.... But I don't want strangers remotely turning off devices in my house.... and my water heater uses gas (not electricity).
Zapped 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun 6 days ago

They will also put a remote switch on your HVAC as well, so they can turn your AC off for periods, causing it to work harder to catch up. I would never allow them to do this. It will cost you more than the subsidy they pay you to allow it.

The wifejak meme is a Rorschach test, so how do you feel about it?

I get it. True, but still wholesome. I can see where some think it's condescending, though.

Cats are remarkably adapted to survive high falls, thanks to their unique physiology and reflexes.

I tied a piece of toast butter-side-up to my cat's back and created a perpetual motion device.

The mod saw colors, while the OP did not mention it. The mod is racist against black people for assuming that most of them are rude instead of it being the exception.

Because the mod didn't want to explain around why the mod was being racist. It's like the little Johnny joke where he tells the teacher, "No, the answer is a dollar bill, but I like the way you're thinking".

I've seen a couple of these cryptic posts this week that are one-off from new usernames. Maybe they are trying to get past the automod.

I remember a made-for-tv biopic on Lyndon Johnson and his rival told Johnson that was so popular people were rising from the dead to vote for him. Johnson responded that the rival was so popular people kept coming back to vote again and again.

I have nothing bad to say about Harbor Freight's Predator series.

Also, an electric generator is an option in some cases. EcoFlow has a good lineup. It can act as a big battery backup or you can charge it with portable solar panels, though it may take many days to recharge that way.

Democrats announce the creation of an unelected "shadow cabinet" to violate the Hatch act, promote sedition, and subvert the very idea of democracy.

Zapped 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 17 days ago

Regulation cut out a free-market (sort of, and I'll get to that) system, which always drives up the cost. Just as Harris said she would put price controls on food. That would have led to Soviet style supply issues that put good, plentiful food out of reach for the average American. The same thing is going to happen with healthcare if the ACA is not gutted.

The reason we didn't have a true free-market healthcare system is because the implementation of the payroll tax coupled with restrictions on World War 2 regulations against offering raises to recruit employees. Employers got around this by offering company health insurance, which was both pre-taxed as well as being an unofficial salary increase that got around the regulation.
