I think Saidit is 2 years old (?), in most of its quiet existence it has drawn right wing redditors who were persecuted or censored on that site. So they have been merrily thriving here, therefore that dichotomy of 'righty reddit' is promiment to newcomers. Good thing is that Saidit appears to be much less restrictive in terms of content and speech, so you can populate these subs with the content you like. Since this site is kind of lonely still, you have to step up to bring the change.

Well, police does not 'discriminate' or 'stereotype', police attend crime. Your original statement read Blacks are disproportionately affected by police violence, 1. Blacks on average commit disproportionately high number of crimes for their population therefore would reasonably attract disproportionately high number of police attention, 2. Most if not all of those who commit these crimes in the first place and result in tragic custodial deaths resist arrest, including Mr. Floyd. Police has every right to apply force to subdue them and they do so to every demographic. Although in case of Floyd he was drugged and according to the autopsy report that must've also contributed to his cardiac arrest. But the officer did apply tad excessive force imo.

The right wingers (from the centre to afar) were generally not welcome in subreddits, so they have been dwelling in these so called free speech alternatives quietly longer than most of us (most of whom migrated post Reddit purge), so some of the content might be a bit intense for the regular crowd. I have observed a few as well. Good on them, as long as they are not inciting or mobilising for violence.

You can contribute your own content to these subs and balance them a little perhaps. After all, we share and build the community.

The conference has been organised by the Resisting Whiteness group which opposes racism and describes itself as a QTPOC (queer and trans people of colour) organisation.

Relatively old article (Sept. 2019) but the group name itself suggests at least a degree of bias against Whites. I am pretty sure if the second word was related to any other race, they would be considered downright racist.

I followed Katie Hopkins into Parler after her account of 1.1 Mil followers was 'permanently' suspended this time. Yes, Parler is not as open as Twitter and it kind of feels like the circulation of information is guarded by high walls and away from the visiting public. I registered, quite a few big name conservatives are there. Katie has been posting as usual as she would on Twitter.

Overall, I like the community, however their website and app can be pretty jittery and hoping they will polish it with increasing popularity. Recommended. Gab is another option with smoother interface and similar user-base.

Also not from the US (or West), but yes I was surprised to learn that African descent individuals make up only ~12-13% of the population. Because we consume American media and Africans are definitely overrepresented there compared to other minority races in US in terms of proportion. For example, in the UK it is even more prominent, UK media really makes it appear as if Africans consists of some 25% of the population I'd presume, whereas in reality, the South Asians are much larger in number. Africans tend to be a token minority for representation, I am saying this as objectively I can judge. No offence to anyone.

There is certainly a culture issue among the black communities for sure, many of the points you have mentioned cover that. However, the good news is that they are capable of improvement, presence of healthy nuclear family, promoting education and hard work, working on the collective self-esteem, having awareness and appreciating values and culture would help the black community lift itself up, as it would to any community.

In my observation they are usually at the fringe and therefore not difficult to ignore for me. I personally don't find these slurs productive to conversations (obviously) but they will continue to exist just as every manor has a dungeon.

Having said that, what can we do? Ban and deplatform them? As long as no one is engaging in witch hunt or inciting/mobilising for violence, I feel they should be left alone. We can always not vote them and supersede their content with our hopefully more productive ones. :)

The argument is regarding asylum seekers, so the motive is to give them safety rather than expecting productive immigrants unless of course, you are against the whole refugee intake altogether.
