Are you trying to signal you're bi to men, or to women? I don't think there's a universal way for both unless you wear the flag or directly announce your sexuality when you meet them, LOL

It was really weird and random!

Like you said, honeybees and bumblebees aren't typically aggressive (unless they're aggravated and on the defense), and this came out of nowhere. I was just walking down the street and all of a sudden it happened.

I know it wasn't a yellow jacket, I'm very familiar with them. I don't think it was a wasp or hornet - I don't exactly research their different types, I only know what I've seen and they're usually slim and smooth, and this wasn't it.

Whatever that bright yellow fuzzy fucker was, I didn't recognize it, or what was left of it.

Honestly, it reminded me of Joltik. But maybe that's because I had Pokemon on the brain at the time.

I feel pretty glad that I never got stung before. Hope it never happens.

It's actually not the worst thing ever, as long as you don't have a bad reaction. I was fine as a kid when I was stung and/or bit. It was surprising and hurt, of course, but it was like a quick stabby poke and then it was over. Apparently my adult grown-up body is not so accommodating.

I got stung (or bit?) by a bee the other day. First time in about a decade.

I was just walking along listening to my audiobook and playing PoGo, and felt a really painful stab in my shoulder all of a sudden. And then a little pain again, but less, more like a radiating sting.

I started screaming like a little kid and ripped my hoodie off and flung it in the street, as I batted my hands all over my upper body. I saw the little fucker, or a part of it anyway. Bright yellow and tiny, but squirming in my hoodie. Took a good 2-3 minutes of hyperventilating before I could pick up my hoodie again. I just kept shaking it, and scouring the air and land around me for anything flying for the next 20 minutes before I could wear it again.

I was so swollen that the stinger wouldn't come out for 2 days. At least I now know that I didn't inherit my parents' severe/deadly allergies now that I'm older, but damn, man. The swelling and shooting pain and itchiness drove me nuts, and I still can see the mark and residual redness, even 5 days later. I'm also still extremely paranoid of any flying creature that gets near me now.

How can we convince more bisexuals to care about homophobia? by usehername in Bisexuals

[–]TumbleweedFireflies 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I agree that ONE of our obstacles is homophobia, but I don't think it's THE obstacle or necessarily the biggest. I acknowledge that we have other issues to focus on as well. A couple examples:

  • Xenophobia within the lesbian and gay communities which acts as bisexual erasure - some members consider bisexuals "on the fence" or not "choosing a side"
  • Judgement of our personal character due to being bisexual - inability to be satisfied or always open to non-monogamy are common views
  • Rapists of the same sex, who normally partner with the opposite, are viewed as bi - it's the old "suck one dick and you're gay" joke repackaged against bisexuals. It ignores the power and structural aspects of sexual assault and places the blame on sexuality

But you think we should just take the infrastructure they built and colonize it for ourselves?

Not at all, I never said anything of the sort. I think we should appreciate and support G&Ls hard work, and also learn from their foundation and guidance. We can build a collaborating sister/brother infrastructure which is distinct for ourselves, without erasing them or us.

It's impossible to start from scratch and "get our own house".

That's very defeatist.

The project documentation said it was aimed at promoting awareness within family support services of the issues faced by young people aged 10-24 who were autistic or neurodivergent and gay or trans.

I thought there was no correlation OR causation. I mean, Lisa Littman got cancelled and raked over the coals for daring to provide any evidence.

The board said: “The age range advertised was incorrect, and mistakenly taken from the age range of the national youth strategy, rather than from the national youth LGBTI+ strategy.”

ORLY. "Blasted this out on social media for the world to weigh in on, oh wait, not like that". Oopsies, just a mistaken advertisement and typo, nothing to see here.

I disagree, I think it's bisexual erasure to encourage us to focus on other sexualities, especially in this sub which for us and our needs. We should get our own house in order before we support or help anyone else.

[–]TumbleweedFireflies 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Bisexuals should care about homophobia because it affects us, we're often judged as halfway straight or gay.

But I also think we should focus on building our own community, and championing that bisexuality is different than homosexuality and still just as OK. Demonstrating that there are different sexualities can help bi people come out of the closet because they aren't forced to choose between hetero and homo. We all need to understand there's nothing wrong with being hetero or homo, while also accepting that we are not either of them, which is OK also.

Start out with seeing what your local crows like - peanuts and sunflower seeds (in the shell) are usually good to begin with. Leave a couple handfuls scattered for them around the same time every day so they learn your pattern. Once you know what they like, look up "bird seed balls", and instead of seed, use whatever your crow bros enjoy.

Uneducated American here. What is Section 28 and what's happening?

Googling it keeps giving me sub-sections of various US state laws, or vague articles that are protesting about a number of various LGBT+ or women's rights issues in the UK. Some make it sound like an older law is still in place, and others make it sound like it's been overturned and people are fighting against that now. So I'm confused.

That brow ridge, tho. And hairline in the last photo. And the very straight body lines (shoulders, chest-to-waist, etc) and how the fat has settled. I've known some very chubby butches, and none of them ever looked like him, they were always clearly women despite having softer and/or more androgynous features because of weight.

r/RoastMe is meant to be denigrating and hurt people. If a dude is perceived as self-conscious, as any overweight person is automatically assumed to be, the easiest way to get under his skin is to attack his masculinity by calling him a woman. It's misogyny in action towards a man.

To what you bring up in points 2 and 3, I would say the only time it would *maybe* be appropriate is if he were teaching a health and sexuality class - or possibly a history class, but it would have to be a very specific type of curriculum. As an educator, his own personal sexuality and relationships shouldn't matter unless he had a relevant issue to teach (such as being an activist, or learning acceptable intimate boundaries), but even that's a stretch. Work life and personal life need to be separate, or it risks becoming a legal nightmare.

He's a DRAMA teacher. He's completely out of bounds here.

I do sorta feel for him though, I don't get the impression he meant anything bad by displaying the flag, I think he probably had good intentions on the surface. But he's young and indoctrinated, and doesn't know how to be a professional. As evidenced by:

"It appears that there is a different set of rules if you are an LGBTQ+ educator," Wallis wrote on Twitter. "Neosho has no mention of gender identity or sexual orientation in their non-discrimination policy, and that is disconcerting enough. Couple that with a policy banning anything that expresses part of me in the classroom, and it makes for a hostile work environment."

He's grasping at concepts he doesn't even understand yet, and is digging himself into a negative employment hole he may not ever be able to climb out of.

Oooh, I just thought of something. Make yourself the wicked witch of the block, and make "crow-balls" to hang in the trees. Nothing sweet or salty since that's bad for them, but something with plain peanuts or seeds of some sort.

You have a little over a month to make crow friends subtly by leaving bits here and there around your tree. And then on Halloween morning, decorate the tree like it's crow-Christmas.

You may not get the kids to come by, but you'll definitely stand out when the crows come to roost, LOL

Happy medium I guess.

Here they go to strip malls or shopping centers, or other group media-approved safe places. It's "unsafe" to go door-to-door or have block parties/meetups in neighborhoods, apparently. I was super disappointed my first 2 years after I moved here, bought a ton of candy and was excited to hand it out, and not a single kid on the block ever came to the door :(

One of my many adult goals was to hand out pennies to trick-or-treaters

Noice noice noice!

Haha fuck you, kids 😈 You couldn't buy anything with 3¢ in the 90s either.

LMAO... I guess I was one of the lucky ones in that area at least. In my small town back then, even pennies and nickels went a distance. I was a frequent shopper at our mercantile shop.

I miss autumn.

The nights getting cool again, and early evening/morning fog. The leaves changing color, and a different kind of brightness in the world. The smell of woodstoves and fireplaces burning. The air being crisp and clean. Snuggling up in blankets and being cozy everywhere inside the house. Looking forward to everyone decorating their homes for Halloween, and vicariously feeling the excitement of kids trick-or-treating (not that it happens where I'm at anymore, but I still feel it!). Maybe even getting a pumpkin and baking up the seeds, and making some homemade apple cider.

And then after that, looking forward to Thanksgiving and trying out all sorts of recipes and stuffing my face with food and booze for 4 days straight.

I'm dreading going to work tomorrow, because the owner of our company (who is completely out of touch with how day-to-day operations work) insists on launching new software that isn't ready to be live.

There are way too many bugs and inefficiencies that me and the rest of the team have brought up. We're the ones who have to use it all day everyday, but no problem, we can just write everything down on paper and re-enter the data once the software does finally work properly.

WE MUST DO THIS IMMEDIATELY! The fate of the company hinges on this, apparently. Or at least it does in his mind.

There was a point in life where I believed someone was my soul mate, we were perfect together, and then everything came crashing down. I felt like I was taking crazy pills too. I'm so sorry you're going through this, I know and understand just how deeply this hurts and how confusing it is. Just let it out, let it out on us, we're here.

I’m also just so hurt and mad and resisting the urge to give her a piece of my mind about what she put me through and what a hypocrite she is, but I know that’s fruitless and childish.

I just wanna say ... sometimes the best medicine is to stop taking the high road, and to just give the other person a piece of your mind. It can act as closure. Don't go out of your way to do it, but if she contacts you and tries to smooth things out, then you have every right to stand up and say what you need to say. You aren't obligated to be the bigger person. You're the one who has been hurt, remember?

I previously also wanted to remain friends with her but I don’t know anymore. I at least want things to be civil again.

Why? What does remaining friends do FOR YOU? What does everyone being civil do FOR YOU?

You're allowed to be self-centered sometimes. You're experiencing a loss, and you don't need to make sure it's all rainbows and sunshine for everyone else.

When did AHS/Bardfinn target /r/FemaleDatingStrategy? Can you link me to something about this?

There's too many, honestly. I did message the FDS mods a couple times in the past to let them know when AHS posted, before I realized they were already on top of it and monitoring. AHS revised their rules recently to pretend like they aren't so obsessed and focused on certain subs ... made it so users can only post about a sub a week and things like that. Here's a couple searches to help you start digging through all the past stuff though:

AHS really really really doesn't like how FDS mods have Reddit Admins by the balls. FDS has already expressed (on Twitter, if I remember right) that they have no qualms about going to the press the second they get banned, and they've had good press already. It infuriates AHS that they can't get FDS banned. And that delights me, even though I'm not an FDS user.

/r/detrans weren't "temp-banned", they were literally HIJACKED by Bardfinn while the moderators were asleep. He literally cyberstalked all their moderators to find out when they went to sleep and made his move during those specific hours. That's how obsessed of a creepy cyberstalker he is.

They were temp-banned the same day/time my main sub was, LGBDropTheT, on July 10th 2020. One of my co-mods was keeping track: https://archive.ph/qN2tk.

EDIT: I started to type a sentence and give a link, and fucked it up while deleting and tryping, haha. Adding:

https://saidit.net/s/AgainstHateSubreddits/comments/5cb0/campaigns_to_get_subreddits_banned_for_hate_then/

He TRIED to hijack it during the few hours the other mods were asleep, but failed. Here's a post I made about it with some archives, if you're interested. I have no doubt that the only reason r/detrans was reinstated is because some very well-known and influential people on Twitter immediately started tweeting about it and nearly made it go viral within those few hours.

Me too, and other mods have also (privately) expressed that they hope he finds his way and a sense of peace at some point. He's had a really tough life and we want to support him, none of us have liked or enjoyed all the bans ... but we can't let personal toxicity harm all the rest of our users. We're all looking for our path, and here, we're doing it together.

The made up female identifies are to secretly manipulate women, so he then feels like he has control. Something needs to be controlled, and since he can't control himself, the next best is the object of his hatred.

Since he can't control us when we know it's him, he has to pretend to be something or someone else. The control isn't absolute though, because he eventually slips and reveals himself, even with the secret/made-up identities. He needs validation and reassurance of who he is, which is the whole reason he's controlling others.

He delights in poking and seeing people react. He wasn't always that way, but that's who he is now. He's reading our conversations about this and loving that we're talking about him, while also seething and hating himself more as we understand him better that he wants to admit. The more he hates himself, the more he projects onto the external thing he's focusing on, and then will find another way to "get one over" on us.

The thing is, men are actually who harmed him and the object of his hatred. But he can't face that, because of all the protections he's built up to feel safe.

It's very hard to come to terms with being the same as the thing that has caused you so much trauma. It's then also very hard to come to terms with the knowledge that your feelings and choices and understanding of reality are actually just reactions from not coming to terms with that realization earlier.

In all sincerity and unironically, that's a lot to unpack. It's not a one-time choice and then done, it's a lifetime commitment and a lot of continual work on oneself. He's not ready for that work yet, so here we are.

He hates women, deeply and utterly to his core, and blames women for what has happened to him.

Even though men harmed him, women are to blame for not being there and protecting and fixing it. There's a strong female figure in his life who failed him and he cannot forgive her, and takes it out on others. But also, women as a class are to blame for being the actual reality of what those harmful men see him as and make him pretend to be while they traumatize him.

He's also been caught up in the gender-woo-woo-LGBTQIA+++ nonsense, and his own person medical condition has been used as pawn in that.

I understand his anger and hatred and rage. It doesn't excuse what he's doing to himself and others, but I get it. He's reacting to trauma, and the exclusion and isolation is getting worse because of his methods. It becomes a circular loop feeding into sociopathy.

And that's where the new identities and "gotcha"s come in.

I'm absolutely serious.

Also, we never perma-banned Salty/Reptilian. We gave a few temp-bans, and warnings to chill out and be civil while expressing his more controversial opinions. It was only after repeated abuse that we started perma-banning the alts. There are even still some accounts that can be here, LOL.

I truly do feel for him, he has had a rough deal in life and never been in a good place, and I want him to feel better and find some sense of peace. It's not happening though, he's radicalizing and escalating. The rage-bursts and abuse we all experience now are the evidence.

What's more concerning, and insidious, is the alt accounts that don't immediately present the same way. He eventually reveals who he is because he can't help it, he needs the validation, but before that happens ... a lot of damage can be done.

You had two paragraphs in your reply.

Your first paragraph is fine:

All embassies fly their nation's flag at whatever fucking country they're fucking in. Stop crying "Waaah, imperialism", it's idiotic. The US planted the flag on the moon because they were the ones who achieved the feat. And the crucial famous point was ".. FOR ALL MANKIND". The astronauts didn't chant "GoUSA!".

Your second paragraph (not quoting) is not, and is why your comment is removed.

You can re-reply with your first paragraph and continue, but please stay on-topic with the user you're talking to. Your second paragraph is ranting about other people and conversations, and is derailing this.

Not knowing if you can continue living in a world of Gender Woo as a Gender Critical person? by Kai_Decadence in LGBDropTheT

[–]TumbleweedFireflies 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I really empathize with you Kai, I understand what you're going through with feeling like your friends/peers don't understand and being alone. For me it was different reasons, but I've also voluntarily and involuntarily become more isolated over the years because of my beliefs.

You mentioned being shy and anxious growing up, and I getcha. Shy/anxious/depressed just about my entire life. I was also drawn to alternative communities as a result: nerds, goths, alt rockers, etc. I've cycled through many different understandings of who I am and what I want, and different groups that seemed to express it that I could be a part of ... and I've always found myself alone at the end of the day, and questioning what I could have done to change things.

Loneliness is really hard to feel and live with, and worms into our brains in some very insidious ways. I do want you to know you're not alone in that though, I hear what you're saying and have felt it too.

I don't know if you want advice/experience, or a friendly shoulder to lean on and get it all out, so I won't share more if you don't want it. I just really wanted to let you know that I'm here and I hear you, and I hope you hang on through the hurt and pain, and I believe in you coming out better on the other side. For whatever it's worth, I want you to stay and be here.

I've read the sub(s) but don't recall ever participating, even on Reddit.

I like to read, but typically don't like engaging in broad-spectrum subs where there are arguments/debates about which side is best. In my view, nothing gets accomplished except everyone just sperging out on each other so they can make themselves feel better and righteous about their opinions.

I live in the USA though, and I'm sure that's also clouded my opinion of debate/conversation.

Whenever I'm online, after doing mod stuff, I do go to s/all and see if there's anything that seems interesting to participate in.

I mainly have a few key subs I follow and subscribe to that I check out, and then just browse the rest to see what's happening and if I can contribute anything that may not have already been talked about. SaidIt is still a pretty small site, and doesn't have quite the variety of subs/topics that Reddit does, so I don't comment often. Mostly just read and upvote/fun what other people are sharing.

LGB's purpose is NOT to mock trans or people exploring their gender identity. Think of how that makes LGB look and how we're represented.

[–]TumbleweedFireflies 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Originally, there was r/TrueTrannies, which was fairly active for a small sub of maybe a thousand members. TT started getting overrun with spam, and the mod/creator was absent, so users broke off into their own subs ... r/Transmedical and r/Truscum.

r/Truscum took off because it was the first created and advertised, and the term "truscum" strikes a nerve among trans people who are being excised from their own community by radical activists.

Both believe you have to have dysphoria to be trans, and dysphoria is a medical condition - the reasons can vary though, even among their users. Generally speaking, dysphoria is believed to either be a mental health issue or a biological issue (brain/body mismatch), and typically transition is the cure. They don't all believe you have to transition though, because again, medical condition. ... not all medical conditions get cured, some are just accepted and lived with.

AHS and Reddit believe whatever you identify as is real, and dysphoria and medical conditions are not necessary (and may even be ableism or hate speech). They hate r/Truscum because it exposes their lies and deception. That sub will be banned the moment they can find even a slight reason, and believe me, AHS tries to invent reasons whenever they can.

Disgusting.

Reddit recently ramped up their spam/bot detection, and many legit users have been getting caught in the crossfire.

If you're posting on Reddit with a new account, or an old account with very low karma and history, you're probably shadowbanned as a user. Not because of WHAT you're posting, but because of HOW you're acting. Repeatedly posting the exact same thing on multiple subs is spammy.

You can confirm if you're shadowbanned on Reddit by making a post on r/Shadowban, the bots will alert you one way or the other.

Welcome! I tend to lurk and read a lot too, and only participate in select subs a little bit. But I think you'll find this site a nice place where users can be genuine, debate and/or just have discussions in good faith, and be cool with each other. It's pretty rare to have sitewide sub bans here, the majority of what exists in the world can find a place here, and users be respectful of each other.

I'm not an Admin or anything, but be sure to check out the general rules Wiki for SaidIt: https://saidit.net/wiki/index, just to make sure you get a grasp on what is and isn't accepted overall.
