"Men substitute words for reality and then argue about the words." - Edwin Howard Armstrong by Layman in quotes

Yes! Everyone misses the fucking point of things because it's more important to argue about who has the right word than to consider the concept behind the word. Because they don't actually care about the concept.

Was toying with the idea of something similar, "behind the headline", a sub where people could expose the shallow bullshit of most media articles and present all sides of an issue. But as Brandolini's law makes clear, it'd be way too much effort.

I've revived r/BanBigMouth here on SaidIt. It's insane that Reddit banned a subreddit dedicated to exposing a cartoon that sexualizes children. I'm taking mod applications. by [deleted] in whatever

Did they warn the mods beforehand? I know that subreddit had some issues with straight anti-semitism (loooota "nose" jokes for example), but admins should give a chance to clean up instead of insta-ban. The topic wasn't anti-semitic or hateful. Guess we've been shown time-and-again where Reddit admins' sympathies lie vis-a-vis pedo content though.

Oh don't act like you're being chased out of here. Are you upset about 6 upvotes? On a comment from an admitted lurker? There's over 1100 subscribers here. I know the basic history of gender critical thought, obviously you'll find many people who share your politics.

So RIP the Subreddit that saved me from being trans. by blahblahgcer in GenderCritical

It's hard to learn that you're the reasonable one after all.

People in your life whom you admire and respect, who will be the first to say how much they love science and compassion and logic, eventually show that they don't act on science, compassion, or logic. They're hypocrites.

I don't know where I lie on the political spectrum anymore. I despise any ideology that espouses wrong-think, especially communism.

In-fighting is what always bogs down the left. They start out with a clear goal, but they have to let every other group right their coattails and then they have a mile-long list of ridiculous demands and no one takes them seriously. For a recent example, see the list of demands from the CHAZ.

We absolutely need to unite around one goal, and stick to it. r/GC, whether or not they liked it, became a rallying point for the "defend women's rights" group. Hopefully they recognize and act on that.

Yeah a number of users were openly communist. I lurked there for the pro-women content, not the politics. I'm okay with uniting behind that while ignoring a political agenda.

Problem with the left in getting things done is that they demand increasingly stringent levels of purity. The right seems better at uniting over common interests, and GC should learn from that.

Better for GC to unite in resistance to the anti-woman agenda, than to get bogged down in political in-fighting.
