Still on Reddit? "Libfems, blink twice if you need rescue services." by [deleted] in GenderCritical

There's also a link to a video where they ask some Green Party members "what is a woman". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKaQRTdcds0

Amongst the typical politician non-answers, the last woman finally comes out with "being a woman is an attitude". I can't even think of a response or a comment on that.

Oh, and there was me somewhat selfishly hoping my male privilege would shield me from being silenced. But still half-expected it. Can't believe they'd ban r/detrans though, surely they'd be neutral bystanders in conflict.

And no no one can stalk my comment history for gender critical subreddit participation.

In an open letter, a former clinician of the UK Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) describes her experience. by Bitchcraft in GenderCritical

Its super important that this gets out. A large part of transgender acceptance among "normal" people is the assumption that transition is only allowed after careful medical diagnosis. But if they're not allowed even voice the opinion that some of them might not be trans, its basically just self-ID which a lot fewer people are in favour of.

Weird...Google amp tells me r/GC was banned because it was "unmoderated." by fuckingsealions in GenderCritical

The thread was real, there's links to an archived version of it further down in the replies here, but as a regular reader I feel that it wasn't typical of GC content.

'Why am I here?': Mara is a woman but was sent to a men's prison by grixit in GenderCritical

I don't think putting a guy convicted of assaulting his partner, who also has assaulted at least one other male inmate(yes, was verbally provoked, but still) into a female prison. Solitary confinement is tough, but its probably safer than gen pop in either a men or women's prison.

Conversations about Pornography? by JennyCritter in GenderCritical

[–]Takseen 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The thing about arguments in general is that people get very defensive, and its rare that someone will change their mind on the spot. Especially when its personal. "If porn is bad, and I watch porn, then I'm bad" or "my bf is bad" is gonna be something people get defensive about. The best you can do is incept an idea in their head that will lead them to change their view over time.

To Person 1, I'd ask them how they know that the amateur porn they watch is consensual. There could be coercion behind the scenes, or it could have been a private video that the guy uploaded without the woman's consent, or she didn't even know she was being recorded.

To Person 3, I'd ask them if they think people on social welfare should lose their benefits if they don't do porn/camming etc.

‘The trial was worse than the rape’ by Tiredoftedium in GenderCritical

God, that's horrible. And to think that guy's probably still driving a taxi now.

I think it was Sweden that recently changed their rape laws so that the accused would have to prove that the sex was consensual, instead of this case where the victim seemingly has to prove the sex wasn't consensual. And couldn't even convince a jury in what seemed, at least on the limited basis of the 7 minute video, to be quite conclusive.

Can someone help explain these posts from r/gc? by emissch in GenderCritical

[–]Takseen 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I remember the post, and ShoeOnHead's video about it. Definitely some of the comments did get deleted by mods. I think I'd been following r/gc at the time, and some of the responses were quite extreme and surprising to me, compared to typical sub content. But I think it would be unlikely that a sub would be banned for one thread that's at least 9 months old now.

I always imagine Dolores Umbridge forcing Harry Potter to write "transwomen are women" instead of "I must not tell lies". Got that same authoritarian mantra feeling to it.

I think that's a good point. There's this post that someone screencapped where they talk about wanting GC people off Reddit entirely, to stop the idea from spreading.

This is great, thanks. Someone hit with that "trans people have the brains of the opposite gender" research paper, and I knew I'd read something from GC that contradicted it.

Oh, you're right! It only does that on the mobile web version, for some reason. And I can't find a way to disable it. On desktop that block of text is in a sidebar. I just downloaded the Saidit app, it doesn't have that problem.

Hypocricy regarding banning by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]Takseen 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I suppose the main thing is that ,like the sidebar says, GC isn't a debate sub, so if a post or comment is too far off the ideals of the GC movement, it would have gotten removed. And there was a separate debate sub for that. I've made that mistake twice before and gotten banned from both r/conservative and r/latestagecapitalism, since I'm too centrist for both subs. But I got in fine in r/debatecommunism and r/tuesday, since they allow for more debate.

Nuking an entire subreddit with tens of thousands of members is a little different to blocking individual posts or members

That's my assumption for now. Although its odd that so many smaller subs did get banned. Will see in the next few days if it gets banned also.
