And here's the problem the trans community forces us to deal with repeatedly. We're constantly told that trans rights are not incompatible with women's rights, and yet we see repeated examples of women not being allowed to maintain sex specific spaces for themselves, and that women must perform the emotional labor of validating trans people.

The question is not about the rights of trans people. Rather, the question is: "Are women are allowed to say no and refuse demands that they provide validation to males who identify as trans?". I think the answer is a definite yes. After all, that validation is often in the form of autogynephilic sexual gratification, where they get a kind of sexual thrill from being treated as a woman. It does not necessarily involve an actual orgasm or such, but it's still forcing the public to engage with and be a partner (albeit a passive partner) to a fetishy activity.

Because that validation has a high chance of being tied to autogynephilia, demands that women submit to being objects of validation are inherently rapey. This is especially true with transgenderism nowadays that's trendy and very openly fetishy. Back when transsexualism was rare and always involved the care and supervision of a medical team, not to mention years of oversight beforehand so the person knew what they were committing to, there were enough hoops to jump through that the person wanting to be trans could be safely assumed to be treating a legitimate case of gender dysphoria, and not simply looking for an autogynephilic thrill. There's actually rightly more stigma nowadays on men who identify as trans in women's spaces simply because there's far less medical oversight involved, and women are safely assuming that they're dealing with a potential autogynephile.

It's possible there's multiple groups of people in charge of the decision making at the Royal Academy and there was an intervention by the higher ups about what their correct position was. The initial cries of transphobia may have come from someone with the Royal Academy who had access to their social media accounts, but less authority in terms of decision making.

Unpopular opinion. I think there’s a difference between refusing to serve a group and refusing specific requests that violate someone’s religious beliefs. 100% the correct take on this. This isn't a lifesaving or essential service, such as medical care or plumbing. This is a baker being asked to create something inherently artistic. Yes, but there are limits to what someone in a creative job can be asked to make and artists generally have "I reserve the right to say no to any commission for any reason" clauses. A cake is something they could simply bake themselves, it's not as if he's literally the only baker with the tools or skills in the state.

I don't like that he's a homophobe but it's pretty clear he's being targeted to be made an example of. It struck me as an attempt to create a clash of first amendment rights vs gay rights, and it's especially clear from this second attempt that it's some self-styled activists deliberately enflaming tensions with religious people when it's unnecessary.

This is very different from say that office that refused to hand out gay marriage licenses after it was legalized in the state, where a state worker essentially was refusing to do the job she was elected to do and was a job that couldn't be done by someone else, and was ultimately fired as a result.

My annoyance is the gay community at large saying one thing and then doing another. So saying "trans men are men " and "I'd be open to dating a trans man" and of course they never do.

The problem is we don't know how much of it is hypocritical, inauthentic virtue signalling, where they tell themselves it's true but never actually expect it will happen to them and don't give it any real though, and how much of it is virtue signalling for fear of being otherwise ostracized from their social group knowing full well they'd never sleep with a heterosexual woman even if you paid them. I don't like the idea of lying and contributing to the public perception that gay men really have the hots for heterosexual women with identity issues, but it is what it is; the peer pressure is really strong, and it's undeniable TRAs have a lot of clout currently in mainstream LGBT. Though more pushback is exactly what we need to stop it...

I've criticized Abigail Shrier's highly aggressive book title choice before and I suspect it may be because, as Sue Donym suggests, some of it may be about conservative dog whistling. She's not an ally for the LGB community.

a) Trans campaigning would not have been successful without the rise and success of LGB advocacy.

and that

b) LGB people should be responsible for gender ideology's rise.

Neither one is necessarily true. Trans activism could've come just as easily from religious groups pushing to promote it as a means of "curing" homosexuality as we see in Arabic countries, and the idea that we cannot differentiate between LGB and trans activism's totally different goals is simply not true.

The problems stem from allowing trans interests to piggyback on unrelated LGB advocacy. Shoulda put our foot down immediately and drawn a line.

Aside from the indoctrination aspect, the main issue with these trans promoting places is they essentially don't do any pushback whatsoever. They're never willing to ask "could it be your dysphoria is the result of an underlying mental health issue?" and instead push transing children as the first step in mental health wellness, rather than being willing to do the difficult task of uncovering and treating the underlying issues.

Transgenderism is essentially slapping band-aid solutions on complex issues of gender dysphoria and autogynephilia, and pretending that letting mental illness go untreated is supposed to be empowering.
