Actually I miss this one particular commentator from TL. I really liked her insight and writing style on all her replies. I should have dmed back then but didn't know how to start a conversation. Missed connection? 😖

i really wish that "you're not a real lesbian" was used less of the time in arguments between lesbians. by literallyjustvibing in Lesbians

[–]Shroomba 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If 'TERFs' aren't lesbians then wtf are we? 🤣 The only requirement to being a lesbian is being an adult human female exclusively into other adult human females. I think because the label 'lesbian' is so disrespected and meaningless these days is why a lot of people have no problem saying that a woman isn't a real lesbian.

What is the situation like? by votkriscan in Lesbians

My part of the globe (SoCal suburban) is essentially anything but mentally stable, monogamous, lesbian women. It's the typical roster of non-woman identities, unicorn hunters, TRAs, etc. I'm glad at least in your corner things seem decent since I was under the impression that just about anywhere the dating puddle is pretty bleak for lesbians.

TIMs and morbidly obese individuals are the type to swipe right on virtually everyone. Don't get disillusioned in thinking that they're your 'league'. I have heard the same thing from straight male friends in the types of likes they get for the most part. It takes awhile but eventually women where you can have mutual attraction will swipe you.

Conservative lesbians? by [deleted] in Lesbians

[–]Shroomba 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm a conservative lesbian and in my anecdotal experience I've experienced exponentially more homophobia from the regressive left aka TRAs than the religious right. "Coming out" as conservative was worse than coming out as a lesbian (lost more friends and aquaintances due to the former).

Obviously there's good and bad on both sides, but I'm done with people telling me what to think because of my sexuality, race, etc. I'm thinking that when or if I ever try dating apps again, I'll just write 'conservative' on there. Better to be upfront and honest from the jump if other women have a problem with it.

Personally I'm down to be friends with anyone who can agree to disagree. Sadly that trait seems to be dwindling in this increasingly polarized world. I think dating-wise, it's important to be in alignment with what your key morals and values are, though.

how to get over a crush? by chokeonartichoke in Lesbians

[–]Shroomba 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well first I think the most effective way is to find out her orientation. Either via looking at her social media if she has it, asking her about dating life situations, or directly about her orientation. If she's straight and/or taken then of course it's much easier to just accept it and move on. If you cannot find out or just believe that you two couldn't be a match for other reasons--age gap, incompatibility, etc. then my advice to you would be either distraction or waiting it out. I describe crushes, at least for myself, as little flames that simply die out over time if no gasoline aka reciprocation gets added to it. You can try to hasten the process by finding out how she might feel towards you or just focusing in on how you might not work out otherwise.

Are you an outwardly emotional kind of person? by RedditHatesLesbians in Lesbians

[–]Shroomba 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Somewhere in the middle. I can definitely be closed off/robotic towards those I dislike or don't know very well. But I'd like to think that I can be more emotionally open with my close friends. Childhood emotional suppression anyone?? But I've come a long way and keep working at having that ideal balance.

[–]Shroomba 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't partcipate much, especially back in TL days, because oftentimes commenters would already have said my thoughts on the subject. Or I just didn't feel like sharing my thoughts-not that they would be particularly controversial-and being criticized I suppose. There's something exceptionally offputting about clashing with fellow lesbians as opposed to the general internet population. Being a minority of opinion within a minority and all.

Hey y'all! I didn't write too many comments on TL but definitely was a longtime lurker. Thought we got banned, but whether we are or aren't, I'm glad we can re-find ourselves over on this platform. LOVE that we got this name and am so glad it's founded as a female-only space.

Emotional disclosure in romantic relationships vs platonic friendships by Jaded in Lesbians

Thank all you ladies for your input. I came out to that one friend and she was super accepting and supportive. I am very blessed to have the most amazing friends and I hope any lesbian can have the same. There's a special confidence acquired from having friends who happen to be straight women who love you for who you are and don't view you any differently upon finding out you're a lesbian. <3

Age you realised you're a lesbian vs age you accepted you're a lesbian? by RedditHatesLesbians in Lesbians

[–]Shroomba 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've always had an affinity for other girls since I can remember. I realized the intensity of these feelings alongside the onset of attraction that develops with puberty, so like 10 or 11. Went through a subsequent delusional phase of hoping I would develop at least romantic attraction for some guy so I could be bisexual, marry a man, be "normal". I have a vivid memory of being 14 and asking myself, would I ever want to do anything with a dick? The answer was a resounding FUCK NO. I knew I liked only females and not males whether I liked it or not at the time. In other words, I was never in denial of my same-sex attraction but for a brief period I denied my obvious repulsion to males.
