Google Zionist and it says, "who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel". This is incorrect. God chose Israel. They have been a nation for thousands of years. No person made Israel a nation. That's the reason why the term should not be used, it spreads a lie and is used as a symbol to manipulate public perception, by those who wish to attempt to dismantle Israel. A church isn't a building, Israel isn't a piece of land.

I wasn't expecting to read that, good on YouTube. Edit: Oops, unfortunately the author got caught up in the Russian influence lie propagated by the lamestream media, "The report comes months before the US presidential election, as tech companies beef up their security operations to try to avoid the pitfalls they encountered in 2016. That election was marred by interference by Russia, which exploited platforms from Google, Facebook and Twitter to try to influence the outcome of the contest.".

Disagree, they're welcome to go if they use terms like right wing and Zionist then they are just as judgmental as the trolls that haunt their thoughts.

[–]SeasonedReason 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Canonical dumped Unity around the same time as Microsoft started a bigger push to include Ubuntu inside WSL in Windows 10. I'd bet they plan to buy them. Whether snap is bad, I don't really see it as bad, the same thing can be done with Docker. Running an app that way has its ups and downs, even if they made snap fully open I don't think people would swarm to it over Docker. I prefer standard packages for installing GUI apps due to the issues snap and Docker can have, but those technologies work great for server stuff.

A weak ripoff of rsync (which also works on Windows). Then...everything Microsoft does is a weak ripoff of something from UNIX or Apple, even Apple's stuff is mostly a ripoff of UNIX. We should all be running UNIX or at least Linux.

If your kernel panics for any reason, try disabling the various technologies that come with your processor like hyperthreading, etc. by AntiLowEffortHuman in Linux

[–]SeasonedReason 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Years ago when I got this machine, I think I had a kernel issue that was solved by disabling the built-in (or onboard) Intel adapter. Perhaps that's why it sounded strange to read you'd run into a kernel panic. The kernel developer would really want to know more about it if you can find a list to report it to them. They probably monitor askubuntu.com.

I'm running 440.100, didn't have to manually install it, Ubuntu 20.04 automatically installed it. Haven't had any issues with it and as a developer I do have hyperthreading enabled.

This is where moderation and improved rules are both required: a post reporting a tragedy should not be able to be marked as funny, it's worse than negative vote trolling on other sites, it's beyond disrespectful, it's despicable.

This is confusing, something that is not allowed on /all could appear on /all/new? That doesn't seem logical. In computer technology, if something isn't visible in a hierarchy at /position, it definitely isn't visible at /position/sub-position.

[–]SeasonedReason 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Java 8 without streams and FP would have been good. Java 9 with minimal, slow progression improvements would have been good, etc. Instead, Oracle let the IntelliJ/Jetbrains crowd redirect Java to a messed up, uncertain future. I use IntelliJ now, because Java is so messed up now even Eclipse can't keep up. I use streams, not because they're better but because not using them would keep me out of the cool club. Gee and her gang should go help <cough> some other language/platform out and leave Java alone.

Great list she wrote, I'd forgotten about the NASA projects, made me want to go look at them again and many of the others on the list. Unrelated but the whole "you are doing that too much" thing is really too reddit like, frustrating. My mind doesn't work like a computer. When I get ready to comment, it might be thoughts I've been composing for the last hour and I'm now ready to write them, not in 33 seconds or whatever arbitrary timeout is applied.
