There's also the problem that there's not as much reason for them to go after straight people. The vast majority of them are straight men identifying as women and straight women identifying as men, which is why they keep going after lesbian women and gay men, because they want to get into their pants. The only thing they usually say they want from other straight people is "validation" in the form of being attractive to them.

[–]SeasideLimbs 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Personally, I don't hate voat. I do think it screwed itself by focusing overwhelmingly on negativity and politics, leading to a community that is somewhat unpleasant to be in even when you agree with the politics of the site, and boring after a while because there's more to life than politics. Voat has zero chance at this point to be even close to a viable alternative to Reddit for those reasons. You could spend a lot of time talking about politics on Reddit, but you could also look at some cute cats or book discussions or porn or amateur photography afterwards. Voat lacks that kind of reach. All that said, there's of course the fact that the site focuses entirely on a specific kind of politics that is heavy on assumptions and guesses and baseless theories and very light on evidence and reason. Which is fine and should have a place in any community. But when that's +90% of the community, it's bad times.

So much wrong with this, even if one was to believe in gender ideology. Why does it say MtF's biological sex is more female than male, when the chart itself defines it as "the things you are born with"? Why does it claim intersex people are biologically neither male nor female at all? Why do the attractions describe femaleness/maleness and femininity/masculinity as the same thing? What if you're only into masculine women or feminine men?

It's just mental illness. That's literally it.

If you feel sexual attraction towards a category of people but never romantic attraction, it means you were either traumatized or you've fried your brain with too much porn or you have too little experience with sexual matters to know what your actual feelings are.

That's literally it. Every single person who has ever been like "I really badly wanna cuddle [Group X] but I don't feel sexually attracted to them, I only feel sexually attracted to [Group Y] but I don't feel romantically attracted to those [...]" has been a severely screwed up person, usually trans in some way, usually porn-addicted and spending way too much time on the internet.

Jesus... The comments, too. I recommend neither the post nor any of the comments on it for anyone who doesn't wanna feel angry right now.

Some of the low points: A straight man with wife and kids who "became a woman" at age 60 and now feels like LGB people consistently exclude trans people from LGBTQ+. Not even joking. He even blames his growing suicidal ideation on LGB people not being accepting. Another person is arguing that the number of people who know and who would date a trans person is similar and that therefore, everyone who knows a trans person would date them, ignoring the many people who have peaked exactly because they met a trans person and saw what they are really like rather than what media constantly tells them they're like. But it gets worse. Two of the replies straight up call for trans-identified people to attack LGB people with homophobic rhetoric.

Differences between the transgender ideological movement and the gay rights movement. by notdelusional in LGBDropTheT

[–]SeasideLimbs 27 insightful - 1 fun27 insightful - 0 fun28 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

One possible explanation for this difference is that, at their core, the two movements have entirely different goals:

For lesbian woman, gay men and bi people, it was always about being allowed to have relationships and sex without being assaulted, imprisoned or even murdered. It was about being allowed to do something that largely occurred in the private realm without it being dragged into the public realm by others who then seek to punish through violence, harassment, loss of one's job or of one's home. It sought a small minority of intensely homophobic people to stop actively harming LGB people. From the majority, it didn't ask much other than basic respect. Gays, lesbians and bi people weren't asking the straight majority to cheer on public gay sex or something to that effect.

The trans ideology is the opposite. It seeks for everyone - literally everyone - to actively participate in behaviours they wouldn't normally do (such as calling someone who looks obviously like a man "she.") They themselves make what happens in their private lives a public matter, by arguing that behaviour that in no way affects them actually does affect them, through nebulous arguments like "misgendering kills trans people."

Should asexuals in gay relationships be in LGB? by RedditHatesLesbians in LGBDropTheT

[–]SeasideLimbs 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The problem with asexuals is that the root cause can be a number of different things (the ace community itself agrees with that) and the exact cause influences whether I would consider such a person LGB. If you fall in love with people of the same sex, truly love them and want to be with them, I'd say you're 100% gay (or lesbian or bi.) If, on the other hand, you're messed up due to some trauma which has nuked your libido and crossed your wires so you're now looking to be in same-sex relationships because they are less painful since they don't remind you as much of your abuse, then, no. In such a case, I wouldn't consider that person LGB. Nor if it was due to fetishization, gaytrending, or whatever else reason somebody might have to be in a same-sex relationship other than genuine attraction. That's just me. If you feel actual love toward people of the same sex and want to be with them, you're LGB, sexual intercourse or no.

I identified as bisexual in a few places online. It felt closer to being honest. As someone with no sexual experience outside my one partner, it felt hollow, though. I could fantasize about being with faceless men but gay men IRL did nothing for me. I could not imagine the relationship I had with my partner happening with a man. Imagining myself being attractive to straight men though, that felt validating, and I had to fight that sense to stay closeted to myself. I still felt honest saying I was not straight.

Best summary of pseudobisexuality yet.

This guy is like every trans trope bottled in one and even thinks he's "Not like other trans."

Right?? I had to keep myself from commenting on every little aspect of the guy's post cause it would have been a wall of text. There are so many things to pick apart. I feel like with all the headway trans-identified people have made, they have really let their guard down and more often let it all hang out now.

Women and even other men are just props to him for validation including the lesbians whose space he self-admittedly "invaded." We need autogynephilia to be part of the public discourse. Stat.

100% agreed. It's easy to make fun of people like this, but at the same time, he said he "completely broke down mentally" and has "pain and anguish" other people supposedly can't comprehend. It's also pretty clear that the relationship with his wife is incredibly troubled, given how he spends time cultivating crushes on other women on Twitter despite being married to a woman and having a child with her and how feels a strong need to somehow make his relationship with her something "special" by describing it as queer as if he didn't consider it exciting enough if it was a normal straight relationship.

Also, anybody else reminded of CWC when reading this?

I find men repulsive, particularly in their being in the world, every day men. I suffered too much at their hands, and I had to be in spaces, as rarely as possible, where they opened their vile mouths freely. Sometimes I wonder if the number of trans lesbians is not bolstered by the trauma of being sort of secretly embedded with men/boys in early childhood. My partner and I have talked a lot about what toxic male culture feels like on both sides of patriarchal enforcement on the playground. Young men learning to be young men made my life a living hell on the daily. I understand Valetie Solanas, and Janice Raymond almost, just in the intense distrust.

This guy truly is, like, the perfect trans person. He is all the things. You have the fetishization of lesbians, the hatred of one's own sex, the pseudobisexuality, the humiliation fetishism (his statements about how he wants to suck women's dicks and loves "strong women,") the creepiness he shows toward younger women, the intense desire to be ~special~...

What also strikes me about this post, perhaps even more so than just how many boxes he checks, is how interesting the entire post is in how it tries to cram all the things mentioned above into a narrative of a person finding themselves, questioning their feelings, being honest, being true, being thoughtful, being empathic and sincere. Somehow, who knows how, we're at a point where people have been given a language (so to speak, in terms of terms and vague concepts) that allows them to paint fetishism, mental illness, sexual frustration and sexism as something "beautiful, enlightening, intensely interesting, warm and funny," as the top reply claimed.

It's really, really sick. People are gonna look back on this time and think about people like him (and the person who responded to him) the way we nowadays think about human sacrifices in maya culture or men in ancient greece castrating themselves to become members of a religious cult.

Not only that, but the premise itself is silly. He is insinuating that somebody couldn't go this far for a fetish. Which is doubtlessly untrue, given that there are people who have amputated body parts themselves for a fetish, or killed others for sexual reasons. Men who are sexual and mentally ill enough will go quite far for a fetish at times. Funny enough, those types share tons of traits with the likes of him - the emotional detachment, mental breakdowns, strange sexual perversions, narcissism, etc.

It's probably true that a large fraction of "straight" men are attracted to the top 0.1% of traps.

That's my experience as well. Most of the guys I know who are into traps tend to only be into either anime ones (which all look like supermodels basically) or the top 0.1% of real traps, usually very young ones before their faces have further masculinized. It likely explains why traps have grown so popular with straight men.

Who or what is CWC?

You are in for a ride.

It's only the people who are struggling with their own identities and trying to find an identity and community by shoehorning themselves into "LGBTQ+" that are going to validate this behavior and see it as anything other than the stream of conscience of a very mentally disturbed and lost individual. But that's what subreddits like r/AL and r/LBL as their primary and not incidental purpose: echo chambers of validation and fake sense of community for extremely lost souls who don't want to be introspective or get actual help.

While that's really sad, the silver lining to how far this has gone is that, in an accelerationist way, I think the takeover of even quite mainstream and large subreddits is really doing a lot of peaking right now. I think the worst thing for an ideology like this is it kept simmering under the surface, ready to snatch up anyone who is in a vulnerable position, but never quite so over the top that people start pointing out how ridiculous it is.

If I may, I'd add categories (d) people who, due to hormonal reasons, have an unusually low libido and stupidly decide to turn this simple, biological fact into an identity, and (e) people who identify as asexual for sexually-perverse reasons, which fall into two subcategories, (e1) people who are fetishistic in the psychopathological sense, meaning they require this fetish to function sexually and can no longer do so without it, and who no longer wish to engage in sex for that reason and instead engage in fetishistic acts exclusively, and (e2) people who have become addicted to porn to such a degree that they prefer masturbation to having sex. I've personally encountered people of all three types.

I would argue (e) and (e1-e2) fall into the range of (d) or (c) most of all. Masturbatory or porn addictions make sense among people who are themselves not very attractive and only attracted to highly attractive people.

Good point, you're right.

(d) fit into the health related and morbid obese reasons of (a) to me.

I didn't think about it that way. That would actually make a lot of sense, because obesity is actually proven to have a marked effect on hormonal levels. I'm unaware how exactly in the case of women, but I know for a fact that obesity in men can reduce testosterone levels.

So perhaps (a) should be "health reasons" and (b) should be "mental reasons" with (c) being "stupid fuckers". Vague enough to encapsulate all perhaps?

That would be another way of putting it! Really just a matter of definition, like you said.

Since I don't identify as asexual myself, I unfortunately can't answer your other questions. (I'm not the OP.) I'm someone who agrees with your skepticism though.

My guess? Enough time has gone by since being trans became the New Trendy Thing™ that a lot people have reached the end of their rope. They've gone through HRT for a couple of years, they've either had surgery or grown comfortable with the idea of never having it, maybe they've undergone FFS or top surgery, and of course they've been part of a bunch of trans communities mostly online and perhaps also offline.

At some point, it becomes difficult to keep convincing yourself that all those giddy happy amazing things transitioning supposedly comes with are still on the horizon. Perhaps changing their identity again is just a way of addressing that, as some step in another direction.

Another possibility (perhaps both are true to a degree) is that, given how "being trans" basically has lost all meaning, people are simply "stretching their legs" so to speak in terms of their identity. It used to be for example that when you're a trans-identified man and you don't even want HRT, people in the community would be a bit skeptical about you. There was a certain amount of logical pressure. Nowadays literally anyone and everything is trans, so people really have no reason to do anything anymore or put any effort into anything. So they might as well just call it a day and go non-binary, which means you've just given up on trying to make any sense as a person and comfortable with being pretty off-putting and likely ugly, while still being able to demand high standards from others in how they treat you, as any "trans" person is allowed to do.

But nowadays, with literal millions upon millions of dollars being pumped into trans activism, the truth is that the T no longer needs the LGB at all. I had a similar experience as well. I saw people argue that the change from -sexual to -gender was because "sexual" was an ambiguous term that could either refer to sex (the activity) or sex as in gender. So to avoid confusion and especially to stop trans people (trans women in particular) from being associated with shemale porn (which back then was arguably the type of media where trans people were the most visible and which painted trans-women as hypersexual beings - ironically true in hindsight) people wanted to switch to trans-gender. The entire gender=culture idea really only came afterwards, and at that point people suddenly pretended like that was the reason for the change in terminology. Another case of the trans community engaging in revisionist history.

Maybe I'm not explaining my case well. Let me try this again with a thought experiment. Imagine you do not care about nor know anything about anime, you simply like hentai and like jerking off to it. You have already been a fan of hentai for many years, and it has made you interested in some things you wouldn't have imagined being interested in or aroused by before. You sit down at your computer, open gelbooru and browse for pictures. You come across a picture of Astolfo. You look at it. You see a face that, were it real, would be one of the most feminine faces any woman has ever had and even for anime girls - who are already drawn in a hyperfeminine style - is unusually feminine. You look at the body, which is slender and feminine and features a flat chest - a staple in hentai. You look further down and see a penis. "Ah," you think. "A dickgirl. Why not!" and you begin to jerk off. Later images only serve to cement your idea of who this character is (in the context of hentai, at least): a hyperfeminine, submissive dickgirl.

Only when a person knows the source material does the character suddenly become a "boy."

For the last few years, leftists have often tried to apply the concept of postmodernism to literature by way of the concept of the "death of the author," which seeks to tell us that authorial intent is equally as good as anybody else's interpretation of the work. I've often argued against this. At the same time - as with anything else - an issue can be taken too far in either direction, not just the one. This here is a case where authorial intent actively runs counter to perception: a character who looks more womanly than even a very feminine woman and at least in depictions in hentai - which for most people are the only ones they are exposed to - behaves like a stereotypical anime girl is supposedly a "man."

Yet, the only thing that differentiates this from this is the tags. So, if there is anything you take away from this post, it's to please ask yourself the question what differentiates these two characters in these two pictures and whether whatever you deem the difference actually matters to the people who consume this content.

Just because a boy doesn't fit with whatever bullshit societal stereotypes you think are appropriate for boys, that doesn't mean he's not a boy.

Gendered behaviour is not a social construct. Also, Astolfo has a woman's face. Not even a normal woman's face, but a hyper-feminine woman's face. I'm going by her body and making a statement about sex, so even if gendered behaviour was a social construct, my argument would still be correct.

Just because you may have some personal fetish or fantasy that makes you want to think of a fictional character in a particular way

Wut? No. Trust me, I have no such reasoning for my argument.

that doesn't change the core identity of the character.

Which is exactly what I said. Astolfo - as in, the anime character - is who he is. I'm talking about Astolfo the character people jerk off to in hentai. Two very different characters. And the people jerking off to her in hentai aren't thinking "Ohhh yeahhh suck that cock you knight who has this background." They are staring at a woman's face, a typical anime-woman's body who is behaving in typical hentai-girl fashion - except she has a flat chest and a dick. She's a dickgirl. The "core identity" of the character does not matter in this case exactly because that's not what people care about. A gigantic amount of the people jerking off to her (I would argue the vast majority) have never seen the anime. They don't know anything about a knight. They know nothing about some guy in some anime. All they see is a hyperfeminine dickgirl, and that's why they jerk off to her: because they are attracted to women and likely aroused by the taboo aspect of a dickgirl specifically.

You are right. And you are also wrong.

He is indeed everything you just wrote - at least if we are talking about the character they call "Astolfo" in that anime.

The character people see in hentai or RP as or sexualize in whatever else way? He is a girl. Don't believe me?

  • His face isn't even just that of a woman. His face is literally hyper-feminine. His face is more feminine than that of most female supermodels.

  • 99.9% of hentai portrays him as wanting to be penetrated like a woman and generally behaving the way a woman would.

  • He is always shown wearing feminine clothing, including lingerie.

  • He has a hyper-feminine hairstyle: long, braided and pink.

...I don't know about you, but that sure sounds like a woman to me.

But, oh, wait, I hear you say. "He has a penis." So? That makes him into a dickgirl. "No breasts!" A flat-chested dickgirl. In fact, much hentai of him actually portrays him not with the "flat chest" of a man, but with slight bumps that would be called a "flat chest" for women. "None of that matters because he's literally conceived as a male character by his creator." Literally doesn't matter when you're jerking it. How I can make such a claim? Simple. I hereby create my own character called "Miss Girlygirl" who is a female character beloved for her femininity by everyone in the world she inhabits, including winning many a beauty pageant and being lusted after by many straight men. She's also 6 foot 4, ripped, thick body hair all over, double-chin, a face like Sylvester Stallone, can tear you in half, no breast tissue at all, likes nothing better than spending her free time fisting random women. Got a vagina though, so there is that. Clit like a hyena, too. I'll go ahead and wait for all the straight male artists to draw hentai of her and all the straight male weebs to jerk off to her. She's female, after all. Because I said so.

Astolfo is female.

[–]SeasideLimbs 22 insightful - 2 fun22 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

This thread is such an amazing dumpsterfire.

I've been trans for about... a year or 2 now

But I thought it was something you're born with? Cause if it wasn't, conversion therapy would work after all?

You gotta remember that the penis changes during hrt too, so some women who experience dysphoria pre-transition no longer do so after.

It really doesn't. It gets very, very slightly smaller and doesn't become erect quite as often (but still does a lot), that's it.

Some trans woman, nearly every on I've ever known have no interest in getting the surgery for their genitals. Some just get rid of the testes. When you get down to it you're genitals aren't going to define your gender.

Which kinda once again forces the question of why HRT is necessary then.

Bodies aren't important because only the mind is... And feminine and masculine are just social constructs anyway... And many trans people don't have any dysphoria at all and are still valid...

So why the HRT then? Your body doesn't define your gender. And even if, gender doesn't really exist anyway. And besides, even if it did, many trans people don't feel uncomfortable about it. Where's the issue then? Why are taxpayers billed for things that are apparently not needed?

I'm just so genuinely curious what answer a trans person would give as to why there is a difference between breasts, for example, and a penis. Why a trans woman who has a penis is 100% valid and most of them feel no dysphoria about having one, and yet pretty much all of them want breasts and feel dysphoria if they don't have them or if they're not big enough. Shouldn't primary sex organs lead to more dysphoria than secondary ones?

It’s been a part of you all your life, well before puberty. It’s common for trans women to think they’d feel incomplete without it, probably just as common as those that feel incomplete with it.

And yet that same logic somehow doesn't apply to flat chests and angular faces in MtFs or breasts in FtMs?

The nice thing about gender having nothing to do with genitalia is that gender presentation has nothing to do with genitalia too. As long as your body is one that you are comfortable in, that is all that matters.

This is another one. If genitalia have nothing to do with gender presentation, where is the line? Does "gender presentation" only include things you can see while a person is clothed? Cause if so, why have HRT to get breasts when you could just put on a bra and stuff it, which wouldn't require HRT? And if not, why aren't breasts and such also not part of gender presentation? Why are genitals not important but breasts are?

I’m ftm but I wouldn’t want a penis even if it was free and just magically appeared with no surgery. You do you girl

?

All types of dysphoria levels are valid!! Getting bottom surgery isn’t required to be valid. Sometimes it’s just a ‘well, call me this, it makes me feel amazing,’

They say this and still somehow don't realize why their community is 90% crossdressing fetishists.

I do feel like a vagina would give me the satisfaction of being a "complete" woman. No worrying about tucking, sit to pee without needing to "aim" it

This guy is in for a surprise.

Also currently orgasms just are not very fulfilling, had a high libido and orgasms were explosive, its become more a job then enjoyable. Kind of hoping once my T is supressed and my E levels at cis female levels that it will either bring back the pleasure or I'm fine without a libido and not needing to do the "deed" every few nights. Really just looking for some intimacy at this point.

Same guy as the previous comment. An unexpected glimpse into the reality of what's going on in their minds. This is honestly equally sad as it is infuriating. This guy has become so porn-addicted that sexuality has just lost all excitement for him and being trans is just him trying to up the dosage to get the same high he did previously.

nope, your fine hun

I've got a giant floppy cock and I'm proud of it

Nope not at all. My wife loves hers. Me on the other hand, I like my penis I just don’t like the way she looks. She is uncircumcised and that is the thing that makes me dysphoric about my penis nowadays.

...Just gonna include these ones for the fun of it.

Type 3 and 5 overlap quite often in my experience. My theory is that many who start out as type 3 grow bitter once they realize they won't get handed their real-life yaoi fairytale by the gay male community and turn into type 5, though still differing in that they don't want to be included in explicitly female spaces. And Type 1 doesn't really exist anymore. Trans-identified men who are into men are exclusively pseudobisexuals nowadays.

Who knows, likely but hard to tell without actually knowing what's going on inside White's head. I've seen more than enough supposedly gay MtFs who were very adamant about being "truscum" and "HSTs" and then turned out to frequent the same fetish communities as the average AGP and very much being interested in women. Remember, an actual gay man has no reason to be interested in femininity. The only gay men I could see transitioning that way are ones like those in the middle east, where it's either transition or death. A gay man raised in a highly homophobic, religious environment for example, who likely will have an easier time seeing himself as a woman who is with men than as homosexual. Such people are unlikely to find any joy in their femininity though, which rules out the kind obsessed with make-up and dresses.

Absolutely. Not everyone with an anime profile picture is a trans person, and not every trans person has an anime profile picture. There's simply a large trend toward it, to the point where if you see a person online express very "woke" opinions and also have an anime profile picture (particularly of anime girls,) more often than not you would be right if you assumed it to be a trans person. If one could gamble on this issue, one would stand to win out in the long-term if one were to bet every such person is trans. The reason why is most likely that anime appeals exactly to the kinds of men specifically who will begin to identify as trans women: it is highly sexualized (very male gaze-y), appeals to people who see themselves as outsiders, who lack social skills, who are entertained by rather transparent male power fantasies and who spend a lot of time online.

Except the book isn't fiction, it's semi-documentary. It is based on official documents, letters and interviews while also filling in unknown parts of the story and framing the story for narrative impact. By your logic, not a single "based on a true story" movie is true, because they all employ exaggeration and fiction to some degree.

So you think that a single sentence in a wikipedia article (that you yourself call out for not being trustworthy) somehow transforms a non-fictional book into a fictional book. I'm curious: given that the german wikipedia article explicitly says that it is based on "official documents, letters and interviews" and is a "semi-documentary novel," and by your logic this must mean that this must be true, we now live in a world in which somehow there exists a direct contradiction. Is the universe going to explode now?

I'd agree with the second paragraph. As for the first, since the amount of homophobia necessary to pressure a man who has no AGP at all into identifying as trans is very high and more often seen in countries where being homosexual is illegal, it's an almost non-existent group here. My comment on their mindset was not going by raw numbers either but by all the people I have personally been in contact with, which was hundreds. Time and time again, people who identified as HSTS turned out to simply be AGPs who hid it better.

Most TRAs are very clearly left or far-left, given their support within those spaces, their adoption of communist ideology and their use of postmodernist rhetoric. I will extend an olive branch though: given how insane TRA rhetoric actually is, I think one could reasonably make a case for them not technically being left-wing. Especially the overlap the male trans community has with incels is a clear case of horse-shoe theory. I would be open to such an argument. And then of course there's the cases where some of them, again particularly male trans people, straight up identify as nazis and far-right. So I'd agree with you to some point, but it's still undeniable that TRA ideology is very clearly a left-wing ideology, though one that conflicts with some other left-wing ideology. (After all, nobody would argue radical feminism not to be left-wing despite its friction with many other left-wing ideologies.)
