On the face of it that statement seems absurd. Given that the brain is part of a body, the sex of which is determined by either XX or XY chromosomes how can anyone argue that a brain is in a state of expectation as if it is separate from a sexed body?

Also believes kids need to learn radical acceptance of self, physical grounding in reality, access to therapists who are NOT gender affirming.

The other things that raise questions is the name and the fact Cori initially played on the boys team not to mention the level of aggressiveness required to sucker punch someone.

Gay TIMs can't get laws passed forcing men to date them so I wonder how this is going to play out. TIMs can scream all they want about bigotry but throwing accusations is not going to change natural attraction.

It occurred to me today and I am seeing some evidence of that in your post, that the trans cult is going to destroy the capacity of empathy and maybe just maybe for the powers that be that is the goal. I did lose contact but I can tell you the trans mindset was so different then. Marie was the older one, in her 30s, had surgery and was very lowkey. Her being trans was not brought up. There was no ideology or cultish vibe to it. I knew her thru Tony who was in his 20s. He had had a number of facial surgeries and was seeing a psychiatrist but not yet taking hormones. I always had a sense that his being trans was something on the side. He referred to himself as a trannie but he wasn't totally identified with it. There was never any demand that anyone in our circle of friends had to refer to him with feminine pronouns or any anyway change how we interacted with him.He would though talk obsessively about Barbie dolls which he collected so maybe back then it was easier to express his feelings and aspirations through his Barbie monologues.

She also kicked down his door once. I ended the relationship though not specifically for those behaviours so I know how difficult crazy friends can be and what a toll it takes. You hit the nail of the head when you state she doesn't want to deal with reality. Anyone who doesn't want to deal with reality will only go further in a dark hole. Just a heads up. Someone else offered the following opinion casting doubt on the advisability of such a change, a change that might negatively impact saidit as well as reddit. I'm not a lawyer so hard to know who is right:

"...The principle that sites aggregating user-published content are not directly liable for that content is foundational to their very existence. It means that, apart from their duties to remove illegal content and comply with DMCA requests, they don't have to proactively pass every single post through a censor to avoid getting sued for defamation, copyright infringement, negligence, aiding and abetting whatever might be implicated in that content, etc. The only way to realistically do that at scale would be algorithmically filtering all incoming content, which obviously reduces freedom of expression. And for upstart sites that can't afford that kind of monitoring, or don't want to, all it takes is users pissing off the wrong person to put the whole operation in jeopardy. Today, if you don't like how Twitter/Reddit/YouTube is running things, you can hop over to new competitors like Gab/Ruqqus/BitChute. Without section 230 those alternatives might not even be able to get started — and imagine if the larger services decided to flex their litigious muscles against the user content on them.

EFF has a list of key cases involving Section 230 if you're interested in seeing what it protects websites from. Some of the plaintiffs do have good cause, but others are but the key is that the website is protected from claims that are really the fault of the provider of the offending content.

[–]SanityIsGC[S] 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

fyi the reply by Dookiespeaks' argues against that interpretation:

"Section 230 protects websites from being held accountable for content their users upload. Without this protection, sites like 4chan basically can't function. Any malicious party could find a way to jam child porn through and get any site taken down.

The recent executive order said this:

When an interactive computer service provider removes or restricts access to content and its actions do not meet the criteria of subparagraph (c)(2)(A), it is engaged in editorial conduct. It is the policy of the United States that such a provider should properly lose the limited liability shield of subparagraph (c)(2)(A) and be exposed to liability like any traditional editor and publisher that is not an online provider.

Subparagraph (c)(2)(A) says this: No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be held liable on account of any action voluntarily taken in good faith to restrict access to or availability of material that the provider or user considers to be obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable, whether or not such material is constitutionally protected

So the executive order is meant to remove the protections of (c)(2)(A) from sites that edit their content beyond what is outlined in that subparagraph. "Regular" censorship of illegal and obscene materials is not part of that. You can't get a website banned with CP since that would still be protected by (c)(2)(A), only censorship beyond that would be affected. The executive order is not trying to get rid of the whole section, just remove the protections of subparagraph (c)(2)(A) from websites that use it to shut out opinions they don't like.

Put simply: It would make a website like Twitter or Reddit (unless they drastically change their censorship policies) as responsible for their content as CNN is responsible for their comments section (if they still have them lol). CNN can still delete illegal materials under (c)(2)(A).

4chan would not be affected by this since they don't delete opinions they don't like, they only delete illegal materials."

Further down the thread, Dookiespeaks states:

"... If you read the executive order, it's not trying to get rid of Section 230, it's just trying to remove the protections that allow websites to delete illegal and harassing material from websites that delete any and all opinions they don't like while pretending it's part of the same protection. Websites that simply delete illegal materials (like 4chan) would still be protected by section 230. I replied to the comment directly quoting the relevant subparagraph of Section 230 as well as the executive order.""

The weakness of this strategy is that it doesn't work when everyone else involved (a) doesn't understand formal logic, (b) does understand formal logic, but chooses to ignore it because they believe holding the opposing belief is harmful; or (c) simply isn't listening because you are a TERF TERF TERF TERF TERF.

Point taken. My mistake was assuming that one could construct an argument they would have to respect by framing it in such a way they couldn't refute. What struck me reading your post is that their mindset is absolutely no different than Trump's which is that words are meaningless to them, prior statements are meaningless. You're right there is no consistency in their thinking so that throws a wrench into my idea. It was that "no kink shaming" phrase that made me wonder whether LGB could get their own spaces and stop being harassed by identifying themselves as people with a particular kink and that kink ought to be respected.

Its not that they would respect LGB but that they would respect the concept of fetish, they would acknowledge that a fetish is something people need to be present for them to function sexually.

My asking this question is based on an assumption that people who have fetishes, need them, they are essential to their sexuality however I do concede that I might be wrong about that.

I was under the impression fetishes are things people can't opt out of, a line that cannot be crossed but if that is not the case I can see its not a solution.

This really is like someone losing their friend to a cult especially his wanting terfs killed, that is, the non-believers who threaten the hive mind. He does sound like an emotionally unstable person who's susceptible to mind-control. Not easy stuff for you to deal with:(

"Maybe they think it’s better than never being seen at all."

But that would be more delusional thinking because they'd be hooked up with someone who isn't interested in "seeing" the person. They'd be used, not seen. That said. maybe that would be enough for them as they would fill up all the emptiness with fantasy.

You've succinctly summed up the ugly, brutal truth that they seem incapable of facing. IMO anyone who encourages and supports those who want to transition is criminal for not confronting them with the brutal reality that finding a caring sexual partner, let alone a long-term relationship is going to be next to impossible.

So this time around, the trans lobby have decided to push a fictional story instead, one that is supposedly dealing with "real" issues but yet, by using actors and a script, they now get to push whatever version of their fantasy that they want.

To attack him is so cruel. Coleman was a 12 year old boy when he acted out. Both parents were mentally ill. He grew up dirt poor and because Kansas spends no money on mental health for kids or enough on education, teachers would lock him in a closet because they couldn't cope with all he was going through. Please listen to Glen Greenwald's interview with him before damning him.

I'm extremely frustated because of the "sex spectrum" thing that many scientists are claiming. It's obvious that they are saying that to defend that "biological sex" is a blurry and meaningless term

More shock to my system hearing that there is a contingent of scientists who buy into this cultic belief and this is a cult,no evidence just revealed "truth". And it is significant that no one says the sex of chimps is hard to determine.

Come to think of it maybe transgenderism should be referred to as the Church of Transology

What would be helpful is to have on tape a child who doesn't show any inclination or make any comments about wanting to be a girl. You'll also have on tape comments that he might blurt out like his mom thinks he is a girl that would suggest his mom is grooming him.
