I was on reddit for years before I found GC. Aaaaand here it is. Nearly a decade ago, I said to my TIF former friend that this is exactly what could potentially happen if self-ID ever became a thing.

Once again, we see a trans-identified person playing doctor. In this quote, the TIF is talking about a medical test where the "safe" limit for a female body is different than for a male body. This TIF was in danger because she did not tell the doctors she was a woman, so they were checking her test against the male range rather than the female.

And now that everything is said and done, she has the audacity to come out and say her range should have been "somewhere in the middle".

On what medical basis has she made that decision? Because she thinks she's a man, she thinks the acceptable limit for her body is going to arbitrarily move towards the middle of the range? Based on what? And where in the middle should her range have been? More towards the female range or the male? She has no answers for this of course, because it's all made-up bullshit.

I dread the day a doctor ends up accidentally killing someone over this nonsense, and they blame themselves over something that isn't their fault.

This doesn't surprise me at all. When I was going through my TIF phase, a therapist tried to get me on T after only 2 appointments. By the 3rd appointment she told me she literally couldn't help me with my issues if I didn't try T.

The truth is, I think she WOULDN'T help me if I didn't try T.

What's disturbing is there are far more than just that list. The two I've seen and heard of aren't even on this list. Here is a great article about them.

One of the storylines (about the young FTM from "Good Girls") was especially horrible in my opinion. In the episode where she "came out as trans" to her mom, her mom hugged her and said to her "I always wanted a boy."

The line made me so angry it made my face burn hot. How many young girls have heard that their parents wanted boys? From that line of dialogue, I feel like as a viewer, I can assume that the mother hasn't done a great job of hiding that preference from her daughter who is now saying she's her son. It was infuriating.

Hello, fellow geek! I have been in fandom communities longer than you have been alive, and your perceptions are 100% CORRECT.

This phenomenon has been brewing in fandom for years. The first TIF I ever met was exactly the type you describe: obsessed with yaoi to the point of it being a lifestyle, and she claimed to be a gay man but she only dated other TIFs.

Just as you said, being attracted to the men in yaoi is not the same as being attracted to or being a real man. 99% of those stories are written by women and 99% of that art is drawn by women, those fictional characters' personalities are all created by women, they are literally romantic fantasies created by the imagination of women. It isn't gay men those girls are attracted to, it's the imagination of women. As you said, they're lesbians with extra steps!

One thing that is a bit different in my experience than yours is you said you've seen TIFs hide their love of yaoi so they aren't exposed as women. I have actually seen the opposite! In my experience, young girls come out as TIFs so they are ALLOWED to like yaoi. If they say they like yaoi as girls, they are accused of being fetishizers, sick perverted fujoshi, etc., but if they say they like yaoi but they are TIFs, then suddenly it's ok because they're also "gay men" so they can't be accused of fetishizing gay men. Basically identifying as a TIF works as armor to protect themselves from bullying by the fiction police.

Anyway, I greatly enjoyed your post and I am very impressed you've observed all this at such a young age. It took me years longer than you, lol!

I would say the psychological impact of being questioned and doubted your entire life over everything, no matter how small.

It is exhausting to deal with constantly being on the defensive your entire life. No one can accept that your knowledge is enough. If a man says "2 + 2 = 4", or even "2 + 2 = 5", everyone nods and agrees. If a woman says "2 + 2 = 4", everyone says "Are you sure? Can you prove it?"

Even the mythological perfectly-passing TIM can never fully understand this because for him, this questioning and doubting won't begin until he starts passing. He will have the experience of an entire childhood (or longer, in most cases) of this NOT happening to him, so even if it starts happening, the impact won't be the same on his confidence or his career trajectory.

I agree. Literally millions of jobs have gone to white men because they were white men. Hell, it was the fucking LAW for a significant part of history. I am so sick of hearing about this "study", which male spaces like reddit LOVE to tout as "proof" you can pressure your GF into a threesome/watching porn, since "all women are bi, anyway"! Or that you can "turn your local lesbian," since, again, "all women are bi, anyway!"

And this obviously harms bi women, too, since... once again, "all women are bi, anyway! (so why do you need to talk about it, just shut up!)"

In no particular order, here is why I consider this study bullshit:

First of all, it doesn't take into consideration that straight women, like everyone else, are fed a constant diet of media that centers the male gaze and sexualizes and objectifies women's bodies. I don't think a sexual response to images of women necessarily proves that a woman is sexually attracted to women, but rather that the woman knows that such an image implies sexual activity is forthcoming (most likely involving a male, who they ARE sexually attracted to).

Second, it assumes that the case for males is the default case. In this instance, straight males being attracted to images of women "proves" they're straight, and gay males being attracted to images of men "proves" they're gay. Therefore, women being attracted to both "proves" they're all bi. But wait a second here, why can't it be that women being attracted to all the images "proves" that women are sexually aroused by images implying sexual activity because they're aroused by the thought of the act of sex (not necessarily the person depicted), and men only being attracted to images depicting the bodies of people they're attracted to "proves" they are more likely to see their sexual partners as objects, and are only aroused when looking at the right "object"? The result is completely different if we allow the FEMALE result to be the default for once.

I just hate this "study" so much.

I've read all kinds of excuses for it but they all sounds like bullshit to me. In humans, the female sex is the "servant class", so why wouldn't that extend to AI? It's pure misogyny.

Completely accurate except for the bracelet that says "fujoshi".

The whole point of these girls transitioning to TIFs is to DENY that they are fujoshi. The argument is that fujoshi are "disgusting perverted gay-fetishizing cishet scum" whereas TIFs are able to do all the same things the fujoshi do because they claim to be male while fujoshi are aware of the biological reality that they are female.

To me, the war between TIFs and fujoshi is just a typical example of how cis privilege is a lie. It's two groups of women doing the exact same thing (reading, writing, and drawing gay male fictional characters) but one is demonized for it and one is celebrated for it because trans.

If anyone is fetishizing gay men it's probably the ones claiming to actually BE gay men and harassing real ones and forcing their way into their spaces.

I don't know and while I can't say much because I don't want to dox myself, I will say I later found out that therapist was a member of several of the big TRA organizations, and she participates in all kinds of pro-trans events. While I don't know whether she was getting any financial kickbacks or anything, I have no doubt she wanted the clout of working with as many trans patients as possible.

I completely understand. It's especially hard to do anything about it when the current younger generation's favorite hobby is shitting all over the older generations. There is almost no respect or even recognition of the existence of life experience and wisdom anymore.

Meghan is Canadian but she sued twitter in the US. Last I remember hearing, her suit was thrown out, but as the other user said, she may be appealing (but I don't know).
