Terrible managerial advice.

Here's better advice (not legal advice and adopt as pertinent): Yep, you can ask your employee to remove his pronouns from his email signature if this involves a private company and not a public institution. Crafting a signature policy standard and adding this to the employee handbook where employees sign off on the changes to that handbook would be a good idea to prevent this from happening in the future.

A conservative backlash is the natural consequence of liberal extremism. Then the conservatism will become extreme, for example, the evangelical Christianity during the Bush era. Eventually the pendulum will swing back towards liberalism, which will become extreme again overtime. Repeat this cycle ad nauseum. Humans seem to have major struggles with the concept of moderation.

It’s really unfortunate that neoliberalism and neoconservatism are both economic right. We don’t have an economic left.

I get the frustration with the current liberal extremism. That said, I can’t bring myself to vote the big R because any support for workers doesn’t come from conservatives. In a time of a viral pandemic and a historic depression, too many people will need help from the government.

I'm glad I'm not the only that finds the Democrat cultism and apologists on Ovarit to be irritating. I wish the moderators would remove the downvote button and start everyone off with 1 upvote. The platform, as structured with the ranking levels, results in towing the mainstream talking points up to a certain level. It's bad for productive dialogue when the dem mob can go and downvote an opinion that deviates from their mainstream dem and Biden-approved narrative. It doesn't give others a chance to see the opinion that differs from the groupthink or mainstream narrative before it gets downvoted into oblivion. I do like the platform, but I think it could be improved by removing the ranking system, removing the downvote button, and automatically allocating one upvote to each comment/post.

Totally agree about Nancy Pelosi and that politicians are not our friends. As long as we believe or live under a delusion that politicians are our friends or that the Democratic Party is going to help us at some future point is just moving the goalpost toward something that will never manifest. Meanwhile, the dem cult is voting for the very Party that created, endorsed, and perpetuates our current TRAs issues. If we keep supporting the DNC, then we'll never escape this vicious cycle. We can't fix the trans issue if we're loyal to the Party over our radical feminist goals.

It doesn't matter how you vote anyway. Elections are rigged. You can't vote the Woke Dictatorship away.

Agree, this was shocking for me. I knew the DNC rigged it against Bernie in 2016 and then again in 2020, but I was naive in that I didn't think they'd rig it during the general. I was wrong I see that now. There is no ethical line the political ruling class will not cross. Frankly, I'm wondering if they ever changed the system from voting only being among wealthy male propertied owners. At this point, I think the parties vie for their respective, low-informed political caste voters and keep them in line using fear tactics. The media keeps voters complacent and running on low/ zero information and emotionally manipulative propaganda. It's brilliant in a psychopathic, maniacal, Machiavellian way. Reminds me of the FDR quote, “Presidents are selected, not elected.” I just don't get why they even pretend the people have a vote if this is the case? It's just an illusion of democracy and makes people angry. I wish they'd be upfront about this.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Certainly! I'm glad I'm not alone. It's validating for me, so I hope it is for you too. And thanks for letting me rant too. :)

[–]Rationalmind 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is a flawed argument, it’s not an either/or. We can advocate for both stopping the anti-semitism AND the anti-white rhetoric. The type of dialogue you want to engage is the opposite side of the same coin. Right extremism looks at the top of the wealth distribution hierarchy and obsesses in jealously, left extremism looks to the bottom of the hierarchy and patronizingly victimizes out of warped sympathy. This type of worldview is extremely unproductive on their respective sides.

Also prevalent on both sides is the confirmation bias and the cognitive dissonance. Personally, I loathe hypocrisy and don’t dismiss my side when it applies a double standard. Don’t cast blame and don’t throw stones at glass houses. Self-reflect first and foremost. Take personal responsibility when you screw up, and own it and learn from it.

Constantly blaming someone else or some greater power outside your control is called an external locus of control. Research has shown that people who have an external locus of control are not as successful as people who believe they can shape their own destiny through their own actions. People who believe they can create their own destinies have an internal locus of control.

Basically I’m advocating for levelheaded and rational dialogue. I think this would benefit us and allow us to solve problems rather than casting blame onto someone else. Casting blame does nothing for us personally, it only makes us resentful and bitter. Someone else will not fix your problems, so when you whine and complain about it, you’re only hurting yourself.

Hopefully someone reads this and agrees that we should move towards a positive and productive dialogue.

Are you talking about gcwomen? I think it's hard because there are so few of us and we also have responsibilities in our lives. There should be a lot more women on the left pushing back against this ideology, but I have no idea how to even start to unbrainwash the women on the left. The women on the left legitimately do not see the trans problem because they are largely wealthy and elitist, and so do not identify or see the threat of a battered woman in a womens shelter being housed with TiMs. The majority of young women have not participated in a sport that involved a transwoman and they've been brainwashed by the school system to believe this is a civil rights issue. I wish we could wake the left, but I don't see how. I've been working on people in my life very slowly and it's a lot of planting seeds.

[–]Rationalmind[S] 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It is not my intent for anyone to take the question personally, as I stated. I’m a woman and I was hoping to bounce ideas off of other women because it was a quote I’ve been struggling with. And I actually did ask people in my personal life including women and men, but given the current climate, people were too afraid to really tell me what they think. Because everyone seems to be tiptoeing around certain subjects, I felt unsatisfied and the quote has stayed with me despite my earlier attempts to grapple with it.

Yes, I did and do recognize the misogynistic attitude expressed and violent misogynistic thoughts Winston details on the following page(s). He later goes on to state Winston’s attitude toward women is due to desire. It makes sense to me that 70 years ago, men would have these views and I did think of that first. However, because so much of 1984 has continued to hold true, that when I read this specific quote, it lingered with me because it felt accurate to my life and as I explained people in my personal life did not help me to really grapple with the concept and my analysis is limited by my experiences (maybe you think of this as “intellectual laziness” and “cowardice”) so I was hoping to hear from the experiences from others. If you think I’m intellectually lazy, could you suggest how I go about finding answers to my questions?

Is it bad of me to ask such a question? If so, why? I am a curious person so it’s hard for me to sweep stuff under the rug (which I’m not suggesting you’re doing, please don’t take it that way). Maybe you could provide me with a starting point so I know how to handle such a question more effectively in the future?

Hahaha thanks for the link. I don't want to speak for everyone, but imo you don't need to give a trigger warning when it is a conservative site. I am very liberal, but I am also able to parse facts from media bias so don't feel persuaded by any particular source.

This TiM should not be in a leadership role. He had a midlife crisis and appropriated womanhood. Where the TiM says this:

“I’d say our office has heard from at least a dozen people of color. You know one of them said aren’t you aware that the virus disproportionately impacts communities of color? And I said oh yeah absolutely. But also the same people saying that you know they fear an unintended consequence of a well-intentioned policy. Let’s say a person of color comes into our courthouse and chooses not to wear a face covering, they’re actually more likely to be harassed and profiled than if they don’t.

First, the part where he's aware that communities of color are impacted at a greater rate by the virus. This TiM dismisses actual voices of color over the safety concerns they have for their community if exposed to the virus at a greater rate when they don't need to wear masks. Not going to lie, that feels to me like the TiM is passively advocating for their genocide? I might be overblowing what he's saying, but the underlying message is that he's okay with putting their lives on the line because they could in theory be harassed if they wore a mask. At the bare minimum, he's playing a white savior role.

Second, when the TiM commissioner stereotypes people of color hypothetically going to the courthouse and then being subject to harassment on the basis of race. That feels very person of color criminal stereotype to me? I'd like to think that he didn't intentionally stereotype them as criminals, but the hypocrisy is mind blowing.

Good point about Pride, it’s become a hyper sexualized Mardi Gras. College is not better ideologically, and that craziness is invading the workplace now.

On your initial point, you weren’t alive or you might not have been old enough to know that just 15-20 years ago, the right tried to get HP banned because it was celebrating the “occult” or some bullshit like that. The left used to be pro-free speech, but they turned around and became the very authoritarians they once criticized.

I just wanted to encourage you to keep thinking for yourself! I think society has almost peaked on a lot of the nonsense in public discourse and once we get over the hill, I’m optimistic things will improve.

On the David Reimer bit, someone linked science articles on GC showing that if you raise children as the other gender from BIRTH, then they enact that gender in adulthood. This demonstrated that gender is socialized as opposed to John Money’s mystical “gender identity.” I think with the David Reimer being flawed too was that he went from being raised as a boy and called by his male name to suddenly disoriented being raised as a girl with a girl name.

Also, I was taught that “sex is a social construct” with some bullshit of genitals being along a spectrum. Obviously those genitals actually serve a reproductive purpose despite external features appearing different.

Angsty and confused teenager is wielding that identity politics sword. Parent needs to wise up and realize the sham that gender identity is. On a side note, as a teenager, I would have been mortified to declare to my parents that I was polyamorous. What happened to the deep sense of shame people used to instill in their children? The bottom line is that people in DC did not like Trump first and foremost b/c he didn't do what they said and the media was going all in with whatever they could to discredit him, and anyone could get away with just about anything as long as it was anti trump.

Yeah, the media is corrupt. Note, it's "media" and not "news." That word alone should tell you what they do. Media implies entertainment. People are under a mistaken belief from these con institutions that they provide facts. Some secondary outlets are no better. I realized in 2016 if we had any hope, we'd have to reform the media as a top priority because key to a democratic institution (or if you nitpick this then a "constitutional republic") is freedom of the press. We haven't had freedom of the press since Clinton allowed the media corporations to merge and the legislation waived the fairness doctrine and couldn't talk about the military industrial complex. Make no mistake, however, Fox is no better. Fox created the tactics that CNN and MSNBC adopted. Fox's manipulation tactics were most evident under Bush-Cheney.

Secondly, yea, I agree, the ruling class didn't like the white trash Trump clown that they (NBC) created. Hollywood is modern day clowns and court jesters and Trump was one of their jesters. Trump did not and does not fit in with the DC media and ruling political class. Trump was crude, eats fast food, and wanted attention from the proles. That said, Trump was a con and failed to bring his promises during his 2016 campaign. He never fixed healthcare or drained the swamp, and was frankly lazy and needed to spend more time listening to the presidential briefs and not tools on Twitter or Fox. I did like his EOs banning CRT and rescinding the trans takeover of womens spaces, but Biden nuked those yesterday. I think Trump's greatest achievement was that he's been the least interventionist president involving foreign wars in my lifetime. I think Trump got his lobbying-- now rescinded-- EO ban post-office exactly wrong, but it was better than nothing (the ban should be before taking a position in a presidential administration, not after they've served a position). I don't think you can bring an outsider in to fix the problems in Washington. It needs to be someone from within who has integrity and who knows the ropes. Trump wasn't ever going to make an impact longterm without that experience.

The media could not praise this liar enough.

Marie Yovanovitch should be prosecuted for perjury, but I don't even know if Congress has them take an oath about lying or not lying to them. That said, the Russia hoax was just to assuage Hillary Clinton and the DC lobbying class's ego. They failed in 2016 to win over voters but they couldn't admit their own responsibility that led to Trump. There are a variety of media darlings who are pathological, manipulative, warmongers who are passed off as credible, like John Brennan (retired CIA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA).

If we actually want substantive policies we need to:

  1. Amend the Constitution to overturn Citizen's United and every single piece of bad jurisprudence since Buckley v. Valeo (which incorrectly said money is speech), because money is expression.

Once we have this amendment, then we can move to:

  1. Reforming the media;

  2. Reform and require the ruling class to serve constituents; and

  3. Other actual policies that benefit the people.

Why should others provide you "with a starting point" so you know how to deal with questions that you have "more effectively" now and in the future? Are you impaired in some way that you can't provide your own "starting point" and are unable to voice your own opinions?

Because I don’t know what search term I can use to generate an answer to my question and because I’ve thought about this and need more input to form the foundation of my understanding.

Moreover, I feel like you’re asking me something that is unfair. How am I to know exactly what to do without direction? That is not a reasonable request. Like everyone alive, I wasn’t born with the tools to know things to get me started in certain areas and so I need other people to mentor me. I already struggle to ask for help, not that you know anything about me. A woman in politics once told me women are too often afraid to ask for help and that I need to learn how to speak up for myself and ask. So I am asking. If you don’t have the answers to my questions because I’ve asked questions you haven’t considered, that’s fine. You don’t have to make me feel bad for asking such a question. Why do you have to suggest “I’m impaired” or “intellectually lazy” or “cowardly”? It’s mean and not helping me. How is your response helping me achieve and be the best woman I can be? How do you expect women as a group to achieve success when you’re so quick to deflate a smart woman? I have been nothing but kind and patient in my response, it’d be nice to see you make the same effort.

Edit because you added:

The position you're taking is that whilst you are perfectly capable of starting contentious threads on social media regarding a famous literary work from 1948, you as a woman in 2020 are too feeble and intellectually deficient to form an opinion any defensible arguments of your own on the issues you've raised.

You’re the one who is making this thread contentious. Someone else provided an excellent, thoughtful response. Maybe you should consider your own behavior? You can’t censor or bury uncomfortable ideas no matter how much you want to. That’s why we’re here and not on Reddit.

Yep, nailed it. I realized in all of the current woke cultural mania that unconscious bias is a thing, but it’s impossible to get rid of so you need to manage the effects. If you notice who experiences most fallout, it’s the historical groups that always did. I wish the idiots would wake up, do some introspection and get sensitive to their own hypocrisy. That’s how we will fix this mania.

Jews are 1/3 of the Supreme Court

That's the current court. You realize that the Supreme Court is 2/3 Catholic currently, yes? There have only been 8 justices who have been Jewish out of 113 total justices. Only six justices have been non-white men so that is 107 white men out of 113 total justices. Also, you act like that impacts anything, but it does not.
