This post is a more practical version of this thread: https://saidit.net/s/debatealtright/comments/8cui/thought_experiment_how_a_dissident_could_survive/

There are many other topics I could have covered here, such as gardening, solar power generation, back-up communication, or cryptocurrencies and precious metals, but I wanted to focus on immediate, fairly inexpensive, and low-effort things someone could do to increase their self-sufficiency.

You can easily do all of these today with just a few text messages, some research, and a shopping trip.

[–]Ponderer 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Fun fact: every country in the world has leftover men since there are more males than females at birth. As many as 1 in 20 are leftovers below age 40 or so. This only equalizes later on since men have a much higher death rate.

This isn't abortion-related, in fact you see the same trend in animals. Look up 'sex ratios at birth'.

Why this isn't widely acknowledged is a mystery to me. The disparity obviously causes social problems and there's several technological solutions already available.

Creative Contest #1: What Is Your Beautiful Future?

We wish to build an optimistic view of the future. We believe there is truth in being able to will a positive future into existence through our thoughts–if we know what kind of future we want to create, we will start to act in a way that is conducive towards its unfolding. We do not dismiss the ongoing and upcoming tribulations that we will face. However, we also do not want people to ignore the beautiful future that they can help create. Furthermore, we hope to create a roadmap for future political action, whether at the local, national, or supranational level. We need to develop concrete ideas for what our ideal society looks like. The beauty of creating is in forcing Man to formulate his ideas in a genuine way.

It's incredible how similar this is to my post here.

Short of getting an extremely good quality water filter for your home, you still end up showering in it even if you change your regular drinking water.

We ought to have discussions about this on this sub.

One article I've just read suggests that an activated carbon filter can remove some phthalates, but not necessarily all. A nano-filtration system would be more expensive but also more effective. Carbon filters, at least, are commonly available for showerheads.

When you think about it, that's going to make its way into the foods you consume as well.

Growing your own food and raising livestock could mitigate this, unless phthalates can make their way into rainwater (which I can't find any information on).

Eating organic food could also help reduce some exposure.

Just so everyone knows it looks like the original image is a photoshop/parody of this Scientific American article, "Homophobes might be hidden homosexuals." It has the same author, tagline, and date (but the actual publication year is 2012 rather than 2019). Credit to literalotherkin for discovering this.

Also, not saying that elites aren't actually advocating for pedophilia or that they don't use this bullshit argument to further it or other kinds of degeneracy. Abominations like Cuties or DQSH make this apparent. However I don't think they're at the point of unironically using the term "pedophobe" yet.

That's not to mention all the other ways radical feminism enabled trans ideology and helped it to come into being.

it's all bog standard crazy schizo shit just substituting in 'Covid' and 'vax' around the usual format of the 'NWO genociding everyone apart from 500 million' theory.

This is what bothers me, and it feels cut out of the same psyop cloth as "5G causes coronavirus".

I don't trust the vaccine, but I don't believe it will cause millions to drop dead. And in a year from now when they don't, the libtards are going to all point and laugh at the conspiracy theorists who predicted they would. The conspiracy theorists themselves will feel confused and ashamed and maybe even abandon their more reasonable beliefs. It's a huge psyop on both sides.

Oh, I totally agree things would be screwed if we run out of gas now. But that's mostly because we've already built our society to be dependent on it.

Before the car, most people lived on a farm. Combined with their local community, they were more-or-less self-sufficient. Not being able to travel to the next town over would deny them access to specialized goods like medicines, but they would still have necessities like food and water. That's not the case today.

It depends on how small you want to go. Heck, maybe we could get creative here.

If you're okay with van living, but you want a living space that's not permanently attached to your vehicle, how about a teardrop trailer?

Very inexpensive. There's plans online so you could probably build one yourself with your own materials. Depending on the size, maybe you could even fit one in the back of a pick-up, which would mean that length or parking would not be an issue. Would that work?

This is a really interesting idea that I'm thinking about too.

Costs of buying land are skyrocketing, but renting is far from ideal - it's a constant drain on your wallet, and the landlord might threaten you with eviction.

Having a camper means you actually own the place that you live, and it's a lot cheaper than the cost of a house. As you said, there's also the possibility of moving it around as needed. If you wanted to you could even buy a plot of land and park the camper on it.

If you don't own your own land though, are there good places to park a camper long-term?

The easiest online business to start might be a t-shirt shop, where you outsource the actual manufacturing of the shirts and just put your own designs on them.

So basically you're just selling the design (which in some cases might not even be yours, maybe it's in the public domain). You have another company print it on the shirts, then list those on the site for a mark-up.

Not saying it's particularly glamorous or contributing something amazing to the world, but it's easy to start and could make you some side income if you have cool designs.

You guys were talking about blackpillers being demoralizing, but how could you not see this as being somewhat similar?

This is a good point, and I'm going to make a post about this.

It's almost like preemptively damning the ones that don't meet certain criteria to accepting that they're unlovable, and it doesn't make sense.

I think the accepted mainstream narrative is something like "looks don't matter at all when it comes to dating, human attraction is purely based on morality and has no superficial qualities whatsoever", which is totally insane and off-the-rails.

However, to counteract this, many people online adopt the position "looks are literally everything when it comes to dating, and if you don't have xyz qualities as a man then you are undatable", which (although our modern culture has certainly driven up the importance of looks) seems inaccurate. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Maybe it's rude to point this out, but for the sake of this debate, the person you're responding to has never been in the shoes of a man trying to attract women.

I also strongly agree with you that attraction is not "extremely subjective". That take has always been incomprehensible to me; I don't see how anyone can say it with a straight face.

I think there's room for debate on to what degree attraction is objective. Maybe the statement "it's more subjective than you might think" could be valid. But "attraction is extremely subjective" is just... wrong. We need to stay grounded to reality here.

Also, what are his thoughts on the mRNA vaccine being used in basically a sociopathic way?

I don't think removing Newsom saves California.

I somewhat agree. Maybe it's counterintuitive, but I think if Newsom stays in, California's problems can only be blamed on him. If he gets replaced, however, whoever replaces him will shoulder the blame.

Most of the right wingers and moderates have been driven out.

I'm genuinely wondering about this. I've been urging Californians to leave the state for years. I hope that moderates and right-wingers genuinely are leaving, and not progressives.

By the way, what's your take on the recall election?

Addendum: https://searchrightcareers.com/ seems like another platform that offers this. As always, do your due diligence and don't doxx yourself to a platform like this. I can't guarantee any of these sites are legit, only that the concept is interesting.

Are there any others like this?

Wow, thanks for the rundown. I've been lurking Saidit on-and-off for probably a few years, and I recognize a lot of the big names, but I didn't know that so much drama had happened recently.

Great post. I used to think the Internet could help bring people together, but now it seems it's just used as a tool to divide people.

It's very strange; in the real world conflicts often happen over limited space, but on the Internet there is theoretically infinite space for everyone. However there is still an incredible amount of hostility, seemingly even more than IRL.

(Btw I'm not sure if I'm shadowbanned, could you respond to this comment if you can see it? Thanks)

IMO some LARP can be interesting, but it is better to give people free reign to discover something new and more relevant to them, rather than constrain them with practices ancient people may or may not have done. If it is truly important, it can be rediscovered.

I think the cosmic mind thing could simply be a different way of describing the laws that we observe, e.g. gravity, Newton's laws, inverse relationship of pressure and volume, etc.

I could see this. The noumenon exists in some real sense even though we can't physically touch it. This would be very similar to the Gnostic conception of God.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to check it out. I have similar reservations about the self-abnegation aspects attributed to Buddhism, but if it could be used similar to Stoicism as a form of mental self-control then that could be very useful.

btw, have you seen my other comment in this thread or considered checking out /s/altreligion? I'm asking everyone ITT because this is probably my all-time favorite subject in this intellectual space.

Interestingly enough this could be a point of contention among believers. To me, a cyclical nature of time is too fatalistic - I would rather see a linear progression towards an ideal state of existence. Others might reject historicism outright, and claim that history is not predetermined but instead lies in the hands of those willing to change it.

However, this sort of debate is healthy and shouldn't be suppressed.

I do know that Hinduism is a non dogmatic religion where much of it is up to interpretation including perception of their gods. I think having a non dogmatic religion is essential for a future religion.

I agree with this. Identifying gods, heroes, or archetypes should be left up to believers themselves.

For example, someone coming from a Christian background may identify Jesus as the ultimate Archetype, while someone coming from a pagan background may put Odin in this spot instead.

Allowing believers to define this hierarchy for themselves, as well as to debate it with others, leaves room for the belief system to grow.

That's a great example. Even the most strident materialist must acknowledge a deeper sense of meaning in a cultural touchstone like that.

An everyday ritual like laying flowers on someone's grave is another example of this concept. Even a hardcore atheist would have difficulty opposing this practice, despite no living person actually benefitting from the flowers being there. Maybe you could say the person who puts them there benefits psychologically, but even then, what's the harm in that?

Some other aspects I might add to your ideas: the prediction of the future (through scientific means) and interpretation of dreams.

Btw, have you seen my other comment in this thread or considered checking out /s/altreligion?

phrenology

Maybe he means something like physiognomy, or maybe just the general idea of innate traits influencing outward behaviors.

Belief in a cosmic mind aka God which can be justified scientifically

Yeah, I don't totally agree with this except as a matter of interpretation.

Unless the universe has always existed, one could objectively say that there was a supernatural unmoved mover that somehow started time and created everything. However, such an entity does not need to be sentient.

Maybe one could posit some interesting beliefs about the nature of consciousness as well, but I don't think there is anything approximating a "cosmic mind" that can be equated to the traditional conception of God.
