I wanted to find a place where UI and UX encourages discussion, not memes and shitposting. alternativeto.net helped me.

No no, we don't want Russian energy here in Europe.

US Colonel Richard H. Black: "We're shipping fantastic quantities of weapons to Ukraine. The US and NATO don't care how many Ukrainians die, as long as they (US and NATO) win." by [deleted] in Europe

Without these weapons much more Ukrainians will die. Now they can a least defend themselves and hopefully drive Russians back to Russia.

Does using Invidous solve that tracking problem?

I'd like to remind everyone there is a "block user" and a "block sub" button under every post and every comment. Please use them! You can unblock users by clicking the "blocked" tab on the preferences page, or unblock subs by going to that sub directly and hitting "unblock sub" under any post there. by magnora7 in SaidIt

[–]Pis-dur 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly. I would advise not to block anybody. Blocking people makes a person getting into his own echo chamber, which should not be how we use the Internet. Instead, we should report users to the moderators if they spread spam or break the rules of a sub.
(dammit, I've repeated it 3 times in this post, I feel like a spammer now -.- )

Is SaidIt just a platform for nutjobs and conservatives or is it something more? by [deleted] in AskSaidIt

[–]Pis-dur 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Reddit has gone corporate and closed source. It's a flashy shin website full of memes and other bullshit. That's why I left it.
I chose Saidit because of UI, which encourages discussions instead of shitposting, and Saidit is an open source software, not acknowledged part of any corporation.
I think that most saidittors are conservative and probably were banned from reddit, so there may be overrepresentation of them here. However remember that this portal is what it's users create it. Feel encouraged to post articles and text posts :)

Hopefully more and more people will slowly switch out of this evil tool. I did it few years ago and I found out I maintain stronger relations with my closest friends. When I was on Facebook we were chatting and we could see everything happening in each others life, so didn't need so much interaction. Nowadays I see that we see each other more often, due to this we have better relations, help each other more often, etc.
