It's not something I enjoy watching though I did a few times out of morbid curiosity. When I saw one of those Mexican cartel vids, that was it. It's still haunting me to this day. Do you remember Digg? It was one of the first link-aggregating sites. It became corporate then died; just like Reddit.

Maybe it's an LED bulb with faulty circuitry. At any rate, I would change the bulb to prevent a fire hazard. You could test the light socket with a multimeter and see if you get between 110 to 120 volts when the light switch is flicked.
