I have always seen these kinds of boards, and thought they were a bit gimmicky at first, but looks like they can be good for some non-gaming purposes.

HyperX NEW White Double Shot PBT Keycaps🍮 by [deleted] in mechanicalkeyboards

[–]NotYeMK 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Had these keycaps before. They were good at first, then I got sick of them. Sold them off so I can get some nicer GMK keycaps in groupbuys. Overall it is still good for people who want to get in on the hobby on a budget.

I have many useless blue switches, what can I do for it? by [deleted] in mechanicalkeyboards

[–]NotYeMK 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I would go try to sell them locally or if not, could gift them to someone that wants to get keyboard parts. I would check around on different communities to see if you can sell it to someone or give it away.

Does anyone feel the tactile impression of the PBT keycaps actually better than ABS? by [deleted] in mechanicalkeyboards

[–]NotYeMK 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I will say that I have only really noticed a difference in tactility by keycap profiles instead of material. I think it might be mostly due to not being able to bottom out as much between Cherry/OEM vs SA. But there does seem to be a very slightly different feel.

Pretty interesting. I really would like to have a board with these, just to try out. Speed style switches are ones that I have not ventured into yet.

The switches I most loved: As light as possible by [deleted] in mechanicalkeyboards

Lights stock switch, probably. Any switch can be pretty light with swapped out springs.

Swapped my Lime keycap set for something that is a bit more calm and has a bit more depth to it. by NotYeMK in mechanicalkeyboards

[–]NotYeMK[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The set is GMK Calm Depths. I originally thought this was supposed to be based on the ocean depths, but the cover for the base kit is more vinyl records themed. Still would take the set again no matter what.

A single Polar Panda switch from NovelKeys by NotYeMK in mechanicalkeyboards

A little bit about this switch.

It is a Invyr Panda switch clone made by YOK and sold through NovelKeys in the US. It is a linear switch that is made for the purpose of converting to a Holy panda switch. It is converted to a Holy Polar Panda by taking out the current stem and swapping it out for a Drop Halo stem. It is supposed to be a more pleasant sounding and feeling tactile switch. Usually some would lube the switch with Tribosys 3203 to make it more smooth. It is a pretty fun color twist on the Panda switches.

It comes in a few variants from NK such as red (red panda), dark grey (trash panda), mint (mint panda), and blue (polar panda). All are the same and come in many different colors. Some are not being sold anymore, such as the mint and red, but they are all about the same in features. It can add some nice color accents to your favorite keyboard and give you a pretty pleasant typing experience when modded.

I have seen these boards around for a bit. Would really love to try one for myself for a bit, but don't want to drop a looad of money on one for it to sit on the shelf. Hope I can go to a Meetup to try one out for a bit.

That's fair. But yeah, an opt-out option would be great if auto-sub is kept, but should be retired for the sake of letting people explore into the unknown with only a map of their interests.

Topre would be a good option if you ever look for anything in between. Sadly, pricing for it is very high. But, what ever is most comfortable to connect you to your computer, then all is good.

Literally anything would be better than the very little to nothing that is here. It can only get better with anyone posting.

Is there a way to turn it off for this community or no? My guess is probably no, but might as well ask.

Seriously can we get more people to post? I can't be the only one posting with no one else contributing content.
