I started seeing the decline about three years ago

I started seeing the decline when those waves of school kids started rolling in a couple years before the Digg implosion. Past 5-8 years, reddit has been an untouchable hellhole of censorship, manipulation, and the thoughts of some of the worst people in the world.

Proposed rule: A limit on the maximum number of subs one can own. (what number? 5? 10? 500?)

Reddit has mods who own hundreds of subs, which is 'kind of' okay when they're not significant. But with users comes the need to moderate, and everyone has a limit to the number of subs they can moderate effectively.

"Haven't seen the mods in months"

Not uncommon on some reddit subs.

New Zealand bans terror suspect's racist manifesto; citizens told to 'destroy any copies' by HeyImSancho in SundogsPlace

It's so odd to see the efforts being made by multiple sources to "debunk" the shooting, and cast it as a fake of some kind. Many of the claims in that article are blatantly false, as anyone who's watched the video would know. What is this about? Who's behind all these videos and articles trying to convince people the shooting was fake?

False and disingenuous. The cartridges don't disappear on a good monitor. Blood is seen. Bodies jerk, and/or eject parts when shot. It's not caught on his camera, but he drops that magazine (and probably kicks it) as he turns from shooting into that room on the right, to go up the hall. All the "debunking" points fail.

Just saw a new one on a video this afternoon. Guy agrees everything was real, but cites various appearances of RED in the video as proof the shooter was surrounded by handlers the whole time. Anyway, have read hours of these arguments, often supported by screen caps or real life pics of the mosque. My contention is that it was entirely real - people were shot and died - but there's not enough data to say whether or not "handlers" were involved.

I have the shooting video 11 tabs to the right, but am guessing it would be too hot to handle for this site.

This site used to be called antiextremes.com

So this is what happened! Went to log in one day and the site was just gone. Looks like Dec 29, 2017 was about the last time I logged in.

Will never look at those packages of dried peppers in the local Mexican market the same way again.

Note: At this juncture, I believe the prison time only applies in California and the UK. In California, at least, incorrect pronoun usage is only criminal in Nursing Homes, so far.

I agree with Jesus on the sub-10 limit. Pretty sure you don't want to end up with guys modding 171 subs.

https://www.reddit.com/user/davidreiss666/

The once per week limit, with the initial delay, seems like a reasonable way to combat drive-by shilling too. And/or just to give the miscreants time to identify themselves. If they can hold it in for two weeks, maybe that's how they normally are.

Questions about starting new subreddits by muad_dib in AntiExtremes

[–]Node 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

How about SubExtremes? Same number of syllables as 'subreddit', and embodies the founding principle of the site. SubExtreme = less than extreme

Could be SubX, but pronounced subextreme...

You may want to limit the number of subs any one person can create/control to prevent the typical monopolies and power plays. Ideally people will create subs to create discussions rather then as a land rush to grab territory.

And somewhat related, can just anyone check the top subreddits (subverses) list and then replicate them here? Or any notable site name, for that matter. r/NYTimes? r/DailyStormer?

You may already have policies on this. If not, something to consider. I'll bet you have a fun to do list.

Nah, he scammed his way into founder status after his own site failed, then took off for Thailand to do drugs and whatever after he got the stock options. His deal was that he'd supposedly work on coding, as a "founder", but working was too annoying for such a self-important individual.

After he just took off, his response to them asking when he was coming back to finish his work was: "fuck you, I'm not coming back."

If you watched that propaganda movie about him, it was just propaganda. Skipping out on his responsibilities was a core aspect of his character, right up to the point where he still owes a debt to society for all those felonies.

Us 2005 reddit users had a front-row seat to the drama, so you might detect a bit of bias in my opinion of that character.
