Not an attraction to men, but to masculinity! by [deleted] in LGBDropTheT

I tend to suspect most of them (especially those who haven't gone as far as to attempt to sleep with a trans person) are attracted to the secondary sex characteristics recreated by testosterone as opposed to being bi. They just look at pictures like he posted and go thats hot without having to ever do more.

I can only speak for myself here - but I am definitely a bi-cycler but as a strongly monogamous person the cycle only switches after a breakup with someone I was emotionally invested in. Sort of a bounce towards wanting someone different. But it does make it difficult because people assume the worst.

Tired of bisexuals being expected to be open to dating trans people by default because we like both biological males and females by UnapologeticMisandry in LGBDropTheT

Yeah also not convinced bisexuality by definition can't include trans. Honestly it is the most likely here. But what is missing is we are allowed to not be attracted to anyone at any time for ANY reason. Its called consent and the loss of that is what really has shut me down to the whole trans movement.

Personally I don't find plastic surgery on anyone attractive, because in many cases (especially trans) its indicative of poor mental health. Been there done that and will not date someone who isn't stable again.

It definitely isn't very helpful for me (f). I tend to be attracted to more masculine people, but if you put a butch woman against a masculine male I'd probably pick the woman.

What can we do about the colossal proportion of closeted bis? by usehername in Bisexuals

That would help. Both the committed and attacking homophobia. But honestly the we are a large and diverse group that its hard to break any stereotypes. Like sure we can campaign that we can be committed and monogamous but that doesn't change the fact that a significant percent of unicorn hunters/poly groups are largely bisexual. And I don't think all the gender stuff and our involvement with that helps either.

I partially agree with you. I don't think it is fair for them to blame their family, friends, or even doctors for what happened because by that point they couldn't have been reasoned with, but they are victims of the TRAs. They are sold lies about how transitioning will make everything better, and about how there are trans people walking around them everyday and they don't even know. And the idea that if not now but soon everyone will accept them for it.

[–]Nani 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

For me at least its a leading cause of my internalized homophobia. So story time. I initially came out as a lesbian as a young teen and had a girlfriend all through high school. I had to overcome some homophobia but it was mostly exterior. In college I had my first crush on a man and honestly it threw me for a loop. Family that had accepted me as a lesbian became less accepting if I showed any further intrest in woman and honestly I struggle internally more with it. Almost like I'm a poser for "choosing" to still have homosexual inclinations. Kinda like a non binary identity.

Does any of that make sense?

I didn't say it was a good excuse just that I think that's a big reason so many are closeted. I will say in my community I think it is actually more acceptable to be gay than bi. A lot of people see bi as sort of choosing to be oppressed or attention seeking if you enter a homosexual relationship whereas for L or G they tend to see it as they deserve love too and can't find it any other way.

I think at least some of it is the poor acceptance of bis in society. Bi women are fetishes to straight men and bi men aren't manly enough for straight women. To the LG we are often posers invading there spaces and treated like we will just leave for a straight passing relationship. There is a lot of pressure to just pick a side.

Sexually I'm more passive, but definitely need to feel like I'm giving my partner some pleasure. Psychogically, I definitely look for partners with a mix of masculine and feminine traits (in both sexes) but prefer a slightly stronger personality, as I have a strong personality myself.

I think you hit the nail on the head of the problem. They want all these trans rights but won't even define who is and isn't trans. According to them a third string male high school soccer player should be able to walk into school the day after he sees his space, announce he's a girl and attend the women's varsity tryouts. And get ready in the women's locker room. And questioning that is gatekeeping.

Long time lurker - finally made an account to reply to this thread.

I relate to you so much. I'm also bisexual and want nothing to do with the trans ideology. Partially because I really just don't believe "gender" is the way we should be moving - let people of either sex do and be who they want, and partly because I've done the dating of people with severe mental illness before and have no interest going back down that road.

I also really really wish there was a place we could talk about the guilt and those types of feelings in regard to bisexuality. I feel like I should "choose" to be with men because why choose a woman and make my life harder (even though I definitely have greater attraction to them), almost as if like the T+ without true gender dysphoria I'm choosing to opt in to oppression.

If someone creates some sort of discord server to talk about this stuff I'd love to be part of it.
