I'm guilty of being one of those people who stuck around on Reddit after DAR was banned. I just kept rotating from one account to another and tried to play nice. The convince and volume of the platform is addictive, it makes you not want to leave. In the end it was a tranny joke on KiA that got me permabanned. For a few days I was in a bit of a daze... I had forgotten how to exist on the internet with out Reddit. But I'm glad they banned me. Reddit is trash and eventually they're going to ban everyone who's not trash.

It also made me realize how naïve I was about privacy. I didn't know about browser fingerprinting, canvas fingerprinting, etc. I stupidly thought that if I made new accounts I'd be safe. Nope. When they banned me they got every single one of my alts in one shot. When I learned how all of that works it made me not want to even touch that site again.

I think that you're right on all counts. Social collapse is underway and inevitable. I myself live in a city and have been saving to buy some land for the last several years. But I fear that this new digital economy will be able to keep itself alive like a corpse on life support, holding back an economic collapse that needs to happen. If (or when) the Dollar is replaced as the world reserve currency, that will be the moment that we're switched over to CBDCs. People will be panicking over Weimar style price increases and will happily accept the switch. The standard of living will be greatly reduced, but the fully managed and monitored digital economy will remain.

I think you're being a bit optimistic in assuming the US can hold on that long without an economic and societal collapse.

One of the most frightening (to me at least) things about CBDCs is that they will give central banks the power to make micro-level monetary adjustments in order to keep things afloat indefinitely. This will give the central banks control over the demand side of the economy as well as the supply side, allowing them to control the velocity of money at will and with immediate effect.

Yup. I was on there for 10 years, carefully rotating through new accounts as they got banned from various subs. They permabanned me last weekend because I made a post to /r/KotakuInAction describing where the words "Homophobic" and "transphobic" came from. That's all I did and BAM, sitewide ban. The moment you breathe a word against the sacred trannies, you're gone. Of course, this is because company is full of IRL trannies.

Also, it's not an "IP Ban." It's way creepier than that. They use browser fingerprinting to tie all of your devices to a single profile that they have set up on each user. They got every one of my accounts in one shot. From what I can gather, getting back on after this is such a technical pain in the ass at it would be easier to just buy a new device. But if that new device ever touches one of your banned accounts, they'll detect it. It's not even worth the effort.

Honestly, I think they did me a favor. That whole site is just a psychological warfare battlespace where one side gets to make up all the rules. I was there for its heyday... I was there for CT, MDE, CA, CWW and all the others.
