I interviewed hundreds of trolls. Everything I thought I knew about them was wrong by Mnemonic in Internet

I've thought about this for a bit, I see your concerns but I think we don't share the same concept of 'trolls'.

A troll is not someone who has an opposing opinion, it's someone who uses 'meta-methods' of controlling the 'conversation':

  • Multiple accounts (classic forum-trolling, where the name came from)

  • Calling in 'friends' without arguments (Same as above, but with 'real' people).

  • Harassment IRL and Online.

  • Infiltration/undercover to blow things up (aka pretend to be 'one of the guys' and one night spam the forum with illegal content)

This https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/bzk/saiditnet_feb_4_2019_new_rule_no_upvoting/ is a troll silencing method.

I know the term 'trolling' has been shifted over to just 'people with different Ideas' for some groups, but the things this article describes are a thing and though it may be in normie terms and the 'troll-master Mark' might have had a ego-trip during the interview, it does sketch the way he thinks about it himself and how awful it can be to be targeted when you are a normal person who has all their info posted on their public facebook.

Really??? Then why is it posted in the opinion section of the news. Seems to undermine her factual assertions.

What is that responding to in my reply?

Also, politicians react to this tripe.

They react to everything as long as it can get votes.

Also, she looks just like me. I found a photo of you.

Great, comparing me to a pedo. To be clear, it was you who started about the appearance of that woman, I tried to make light of your strawman...

Propaganda watch alert: This is the kind of article that will get antitrolling laws passed.

No, it's politicians and politics that get laws passed. It's only healthy to talk about the 'dark' side of things instead of shoveling it away under the carpet in fear of repercussions.

The article is about trolls in which the internet talks about them, not the MSM 'everyone anonymous is a troll' notion.

I saw her picture and yeah, like yourself she's not blessed with the looks of me.

Exactly, watch the companies fully entrenched into facebook are now losing ground when people who they are trying to reach are leaving facebook.

I might be tempted to say/claim this institute is being held hostage by the 'outrage' if they don't respond to questions. Like you (semi) said , it's the buggers that get something, if you don't beg because it doesn't interest you or doesn't bother you get nothing because you don't ask. These institutions were founded on 'questions' from the public and can only function is such a manner, if they were to do thing independently (without proof of asking from the public) the outrage would be prescribed by 'YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST DO WHAT YOU WANT!?'.

Yeah anyway, yeah that's a problem.

I think it's more a case of an institution that tries to be/stay relevant.

It's not too big of leap to call ISIS the continuation of the Iraq war into today. I fear your thought is spot on, it's easy to say something is over.

Not for this year I think, but they were nice to work with. (Small company with 4 employees).

A small rule of thumb, if you don't meet with the boss (or at least the head manager/your local boss) within your first week of work, you're the 'slave'. And with meeting I mean informal not talking business, more about you and how you're experiencing the new setting.

That's a case (especially the latter) that's a bit more nuanced than the image.
