How to Build your Own Real-time Chat App like WhatsApp?
Mnemonic 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

Pretty much me, not ending the internet, but having it as a tool instead of a consciousness. Internet!=RL merely an extension, and on extensions alone one cannot live.

Social media can drop though :)

The pronoun 'I' across Europe
Mnemonic 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun 4 years ago

The pronunciation does make a BIG difference too. The Europe 'eu' combo is vastly different from the english. Take Zeus, it's hillarious hearing it pronounced in English. Or the g, man that's a trip.

I do follow a Lord shitposter from https://dobbs.town/ IIRC, onion access to my instance is timing-out ATM... So verification is uncertain, just like the the bugger in your nose has been up and down shitcreek for at least 3 centuries, about the time it took to corrupt the teaching of Jeshut (pronounced "you shit"), so even though this all may or may not 'check out', you're certainly checking out of the meta-shitstream that is called the webs of collusion (DID YOU KNOW THE INTERNET IS IN RUSSIA TOO!?), follow pedophiles on twitter and naughty uncles on facebook, they all lead back to a giant elephant with hair on it's balls, nose, crotch (different area than the balls, especially when it's female) and eyes (eye-brows they are called).! (<- yes a dot and an exclamation mark, spelled out again: to make you more unsure of the meaning).

I Did bookmark this, with a... well, you don't have to know, if you do want to know you can SPONSOR the Q-T-Manifesto with $20 (Australian) made out to the killer of Epstein ;^)

Edit: oeh, this one: https://dobbs.town/@Shitlord

Jordan Peterson's health was terrible, but he's getting better.

The drug was known for over 4 months, this revelation just opened up another can of worms: Russia? As a rich Canadian this is shady as F. Combined with the whole denial of any wrong-doing of JP himself... He abused some stuff alright and covered it up in Russia. Either he abused this drug or something completely different, but going to Russia instead of Canada/USA/Europe for a 'detox' is like going to Thailand for an 'inner journey'.

Ironic and sad, poor girl clearly doesn't want to make this video, the marketing machine part of his greedy brain seems to be working again.

You Should Be Eating More Canned Fish
Mnemonic 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun 4 years ago

Sardines are always great! Never had a bad can. But I can admit that in The Netherlands most peeps think of it as canned tuna (which is disgusting except that premium priced stuff, but then I prefer fresh). I can totally see why the South has a thing for it, it easy to keep fresh (imagine traveling from the sea into the country back in the days, no fishy would stay fresh). Sour-Herring is also a nice thing, though it's mostly sold in glass.

The new dot com bubble is here: it’s called online advertising
Mnemonic 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 4 years ago

In Europe it's based around wealthy peeps buying up houses and renting them out, just the prices of the rents are getting steeper and byuying a house is also getting steeper because peeps see money in buying a house and renting it out... a vicious capitalistic cycles around something that should be more-or-less ordain to have: housing. The crisis has reached a pint in where school-teachers can't afford to rent homes in cities because of their salary and the rent prices... really wicked. A couple early 30ies, dual-earnings can't buy a house in a city.

There was a case against Facebook fo 'fake'-views on ads some time ago: https://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/news/2019/10/07/facebook-ad-metrics-lawsuit-settlement.html (did a quick search)

In Europe we also have a house-bubble coming: House are way too expensive for starters and a lot of peeps need homes, now the homes are there only too expensive or you have to rent from someone who bought the house just to make a easy buck, while poorly maintaining it and terrorizing they loaners.

For ads you just need an image with a link embedded in it: then I'm fine with it and I won't block em. Local sites (like news, startups etc.) have this setup. No importing weird external js and you can EASILY count when someone clicks your ad with some php link in the ad (click it and use your heaven's gate visitor counter code). No need to track. These kind of ads are also local/related to the site's content, I don't need to know about a vibrator on sale in the USA...

Can someone spoil Battlestar Galactica for me?
Mnemonic 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun 4 years ago

IIRC: they spot primitive earth-humans and their own DNA is close enough to didlydo-it. They split the survivors up and that's about it.

They are the 'ancient aliens', earth is the new homeworld because they crash.

  • Crusade (B5 spin-off) nice concepts, technomages! It stopped after one season and the viewing order is disputed (of the episodes).

  • Doctor who for some lighthearted fun, season 12 (2nd of the female doctor has a great start so far)

  • The Expanse aka 'le hardo sci-fi'.

  • Cowboy bebop (don't forget to watch the movie before the end)

  • Andromeda (canadian farscape-like)

  • Killjoys (Canadian firefly)

  • Dark Matter (I don't even know how it ended, but it was fun to watch)

For Babylon 5 it takes awhile to get going... you need your own imagination. It's such an epic tale.

Stargate SG-1, it's like the X-files, one episode sci-fi stories set in their universe, pretty decent watch (the spin-offs also) Give them both another go, will get you weeks of entertainment.

Which is better: TAILS or Whonix?
Mnemonic 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 4 years ago

I can't do better than the homepages of the projects.

TAILS is (best) without persistence from a USB: "Tails is a live operating system that you can start on almost any computer from a USB stick or a DVD. "

Whonix is something you run in your OS: "Whonix ™ isn't a program like most of your applications. It's a full operating system that runs inside your current one. Select which operating system your computer is running."

Which is better: TAILS or Whonix?
Mnemonic 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 4 years ago

I recommend you take a look at both, since their approach is different and what 'is best' depends on the context.
