What are your thoughts on the "Karen" term and phenomenon? by Aureus in AskSaidIt

Unfortunately since the slur was a female name misogynists ran with it and ruined the joke. Now any non-poor woman with an opinion is a Karen. We do need something to call the selfish entitled pricks that won't wear masks and treat customer service people like garbage, but we don't need another excuse to dogpile on women.

Don't worry they figured out a loophole that they think explains it. From Dr William's essay posted yesterday. "...we have a sense of gender identity which exists independent of both our biological sex and our gendered socialisation". So their "female gender" is innate. Even though they criticize essentialism because there is no "female essence". Except for theirs, apparently. I dunno the topping on the cake for me is always how TIFs never seem to participate in any of this nonsense. I would think more LGB people would be alerted by that.

So I realized the last couple days that I was not up to date on the current centrist leaning about sex and gender. The essay, especially the first chapter was super informative.

If I were to try to understand TRA reasoning, they WANT it to be true that there is no sex based differences in the brain because it makes them feel more validated, basically. And they apparently fail to address the hormonal sex based differences, while actively taking hormones to 'correct' their own sex based 'flaws'.

Well their plan fucking backfired then. The news about all the ban shit has been exposing me to more feminist and critical groups than ever before.

I agree with everything you wrote although I was under the impression we're not supposed to say "trans" here which is why I avoided using it. I would add that the worry about bathrooms isn't about just bathrooms, or even about actual transexual people, it's about autogynephiles and male predators taking advantage of female spaces. Something which men don't have to worry about the vast majority of the time which is what makes it a strong feminist issue.

I think it's important to advocate for actual Trans Rights, and medical research, and get away from this umbrella that groups other kind of gender non conforming people in with transexual people. Sex is NOT gender and I thought feminists and queer people have been fighting for that be normalized for the last... 70+ years? No person that isn't diagnosed by a thorough set of guidelines should be able to call themselves "trans" just because they want to. If someone with a penis is sexually assaulted they deserve the same empathy and protection as anyone else, but someone with a penis shouldn't be automatically allowed into female rape centers just on their word.

Life is cruel and uncaring and the hard truth is there is no way to make it "equal" for everyone, by the standards of transexuals who want to pass and be treated as women or men instead of trans women or trans men. If they want the social treatment they feel they need then sometimes they will have to address their transexual condition, they will have to name it and be categorized by it. Most of us can recognize that sucks for them, we can be empathetic and try to be as kind to them as is reasonable. But it's their reality, they can't expect the whole world to change the rules around a basic denial of reality. I assume a lot of them don't, and I feel bad for them that their voices are buried by perverts and narcissists.

They somehow believe socialization isn't a thing. But they will also say young boys without influence don't turn out more violent than girls, which means they are blaming male violence on socialization. Any female who games online can tell you literally all of us get harassed by at least one guy in every single game we play and we learn that it's just a normal part of being a woman and if we speak out we will be excluded from the whole group, I would really love for them to try to explain that one. Would they make up fake examples of women doing the same thing to men? The only time I saw women instigating creepy online relationships outside of one incident that bordered on pedo turf, they were doing it purely for attention and the guys were what annoying people today would call simps or soyboys. Except they really were pretty much the definition of that and they loved every moment of it. No Woman would have to harass them, if she sent a nude or a sext they would literally debase themselves just to make sure that sexual gratification kept coming for as long as possible.

How can they even use the term cis if they are denying sex based differences? It makes absolutely no sense. Gosh I feel so bad for kids being raised in this bs groupthink mentality. Kids have enough trouble learning to think for themselves, with all the shitty parents and families out there and at least in the US school is also a fucking joke.

They can't make up their mind what they want because they value performative femininity too much. The facade of appearing female is their only public facing illusion in pretending they don't have penis..is? Peni? They had to start out agreeing with transexual people that gender is a social construct because they are pretending to be transexual but now they realize that they lose something if the female gender isn't visually recognizable.

The quote was from a mod explaining to me why I got banned from a sub for defending GC against the accusation of being gender essentialists. I didn't think I outed myself, I went with the perspective of 'a righteous cause doesn't need to spread misinformation to make a point' and I was still banned and called a TERF for simply supporting factual based debate over smear campaigns. They eventually stopped responding to me because I'm sure they realized they literally couldn't explain how TIMs are not more gender essentialist than we are (because we aren't), nor how you can speak of dismantling socially constructed gender without "distinguishing" it from sex.

I'm a straight person but I think I was peaked by the way TIMs have taken over LGB(++++) spaces. They say that gender is a social construct. But then they say that the "only people who care about distinguishing sex from gender are transphobes". How can you have it both ways? Gender is a social construct literally means sex isn't gender, and that your sex is not important to your gender expression. How can you spread a message of gender being not sex, without distinguishing the two in any way? Either it's a logical fallacy, or I am a lot more stupid than I thought I was. And every "inclusive" space has to support this now or it's transphobic. Men don't have an issue though (as usual), if they don't want to have sex with a vagina they don't. But lesbians who don't want to have sex with a penis? They get death threats. I can't with that.

I never posted on GC because I honestly do sometimes see people being anti-trans. Not just anti-autogynephile or pro-women's rights but genuinely saying that transsexual medial conditions don't exist. And I didn't see those people getting moderated. I do not agree with that, I think transsexual is a real thing and I think those affected by it deserve our empathy. But I followed GC, and I came here, because it's one of the only places I see that protects biological women's voices and ability to speak about their own experience. I've already been banned from posting today in a REALITY SHOW sub reddit because someone said GC believes that "gender is rigid and unchangeable", and I simply corrected that and said if you're going to criticize something you should be accurate about it.

A "real" trans person probably isn't any threat to us. In fact they probably aren't a part of the trans movement at all. They probably do have a difficult lived experienced and need protections from abuse and discrimination. I support that. But I am also a biologically sexed woman, I am not going to let someone tell me with a straight face that a biological sexed man isn't stronger than me because sex isn't real. That's fucking ridiculous.

I don't know if I'm "gender critical" I don't know if I'm "radical feminist". I just know that biology isn't some made up fairy tale - that I live in a reality where myself and almost every woman I know has been sexually harassed or assaulted by biological men. And the idea of being censored for stating that is some dystopian shit that doesn't need to be the new normal.
