Oh for fuck's sake. It's horrible enough I'm forced by the threat of more Trump and the end of American democracy to vote for yet another freaking neoliberal to the right of Richard Nixon, but now there's this shit too?

I think this is directly related to the visibility of pop feminism and no other more legitimate feminism. Back in the day, we were loud, we were proud, we made demands and deferred to no one. Now it's all about how cute it is to be a middle class prostitute, that any woman who doesn't want to do anal is depriving herself of an empowering experience, that we must insist that trans women are women too, etc. All of this shit attempts to make women attractive to corporations and not toscare off the men, only under a "feminist" label. It's about being subservient but insisting it's our choice.

For something positive - shall we share our own empowering moments as WOMEN? by vitunrotta in GenderCritical

I wasn't really cued into how unusual this was when it happened back in the 80s but in retrospect ... I dominated class discussions in College without a single thought as to whether I should let the boys talk or be intimidated by them. In fact I have always done this and it's really only since tuning in here that I recognize that this isn't considered "normal" by the larger society. If I have something to say, I say it, if I get flamed, I flame back. I only wish all the girls growing up now had that confidence.
