Oh wow, okay. So this is going to take a bit, and it's all happened some time ago, so my memory on the exact details is a bit spotty.

Basically, Reddit did a bunch of purges after Trump got elected, because that rubbed a lot of the admins and powermods the wrong way. At the same time, a lot of the silly and unbelievable TiA shit stopped being silly and unbelievable once people in power--like the ones at Reddit itself--started formulating and enacting policies around it (like attempts at policies that would make misgendering someone a criminal offense). And the forefront of that was the genderspecials (non-binary, genderfluid, transmasc, and shit like that) and transgenders.

So towards the end of its time on Reddit, the old TiA found its membership increased by a lot of refugees from purged sites, quite a few of which militant feminists. Naturally, they had a particular axe to grind with regards to the transgenders, and did so, but Reddit's reporting policies (and bot usage) made certain terms instantly bannable offenses, so alternatives came up: snart (trans backwards), trains, and troon (which is a really old term, from Something Awful IIRC, a combination of trans and goon).

(The radfems also got increasingly comfortable about stepping out of that trans lane and talking shit about men in general, and generally acting like TiA was their sub and the rest of the members unwelcome guests. They had to periodically reminded that they were TiA content themselves. They didn't like that.)

Well, anyway, in due time the old TiA got its turn under the banhammer and that was that. The angry feminists mostly migrated to Ovarit, the rest of us came here or just fucked off entirely (mostly the latter, going by this sub's low subscriber count). And that's that.

You're not wrong that there's a big emphasis on the trans stuff though. Because that's the hot-button issue right now, especially with regards to kids getting their heads filled with shit that other people then push them into acting on with horrible, life-long consequences. We haven't forgotten the other shit though, but it's on the backburner right now and the silly shit just isn't as important anymore. It must also be remembered that a lot of the silly shit, as I mentioned earlier, unexpectedly became serious shit in some cases. So we're also kind of reluctant to just laugh off anything else, because we don't know if it'll suddenly stop being funny and start being something that people actually get hired or fired over (Sam Brinton in the White House, for example).

And with regards to your specific point about trans people getting piled on, that's a sadly inevitable outcome of the growing backlash. I don't think many of the people on this sub actually care about someone just getting through life however they can, even if that involves playing a rather convoluted version of "let's pretend." (Caitlyn Jenner, to name one example, isn't a subject of any posts that I can ever recall.) But the extremist TRAs (trans rights advocates) and the troons have effectively killed our ability to be nice by their actions. Because we did that, and that's how those fuckers got in the door to begin with.
