I was like 13-ish? It was funny because she was the first girl I ever felt more than puppy love for. All of our gay and bi friends were like oh my god, just date already! Sadly I was still so deep in the closet that even though we were on the brink of making it official I was too scared. :(

Last time I saw her was years ago. She started identifying as nonbinary so... yikes.

You're going to get removed because this is a group specifically meant for lesbians and you're not one, but anyway.

  1. Oh no, anything but lesbians complaining about homophobic straight women! Straight women who call themselves lesbians despite literally admitting to having boyfriends! How could the lesbians let this happen?
  2. If you can't tell that the "my GF seems sexist" post threw up a lot of this seems fake red flags for a lot of the women commenting, so a lot of women were responding in a tongue-in-cheek way. (Good job also ignoring the majority of responses, which were sympathetic.)
  3. Those comments from r/latebloomerlesbians aren't even cherry-picked. Just spend more than 15 minutes reading there and you'll realize it stretches as far as the eye can see.
  4. Lesbians cannot engage in "toxic masculinity" because lesbians are women. If you want to criticize women for being misogynistic, by all means do so. But don't pretend it's because we're somehow men.

I started seeing little boys allowed to put on "girly" clothes and costumes during Halloween and dress-up games. People stopped caring when guys wore pink. I even noticed more fully grown straight men wearing makeup and nail polish and laughing at their bros who felt their masculinity was threatened by it.

Femininity in men was literally just beginning to be normal for men. It's like that all got erased when this whole trans craze started getting media attention. I swear this movement is putting us back decades in terms of harmful sex stereotypes.

Objectively, it doesn't taste good

I mean.... this depends on the woman. In any case, there is no need to force yourself into sex acts you're not comfortable with.

Some women prefer giving, some prefer recieveing, and some women are just not into oral period. Finding out sexual compatibility, like most parts in any relationship, all comes down to communicating wants and needs. This might be a dealbreaker for some but that's okay. Are you in a relationship right now where this is disinterest in oral is interfering with your intimacy? Have you tried talking about it with her?

  1. The community will have to heal from all the damage and homophobia the TQ and their allies did, inside and out. We'll have to explain to straight people all over again what we're actually here for.
  2. Fighting discrimination and securing other human rights in places where it still isn't guaranteed.
  3. I think we'll see a rise in LGB solidarity as we bond over the experience of same-sex attraction that means we are all connected. Detransitioners and desisters will probably be a lot more common among us.
  4. I think we will see an increase in LGB groups and dedicated L, G, and B sepcific groups. Solidarity is important, but having our own communities is too. Lesbians have already started since we've been hit by the TQ+ homophobia for the longest and hardest.

I don't think it's weird if a lesbian sees gay couples on TV and thinks it's cute or romantic. Shipping isn't an inherently sexual activity, it just means you think two characters are good together. I only really care about lesbians in media so I actively seek out shows and books with female romance in my free time. But if I run into fanart of two guys in love and it doesn't look fetishy, I think it's sweet.

Watching gay porn though? Nope. Sorry. No way. I tried watching gay porn once and couldn't stomach it. I remember being a tween and all my bi and straight friends were super into yaoi. I had to mentally check out every time the conversation went in that direction. I instantly side-eye any woman claiming she's a lesbian that is obsessed with gay porn/yaoi/BL/nsfw mlm ships/whatever they call it.

EDIT: The amount of women in the comments claiming lesbians like gay porn... Are y'all lost?

I hate how they took the word lesbian to create "lesbian-feminism." You're not a lesbian if you like men. Even if you sit around talking about how great women are and how men oppress us (which is fine but doesn't change your sexual orientation).

A lot of radfems get on my nerves sometimes. I know the popular idea is that the majority of radical feminists are lesbians when in reality most of them are heterosexual/bisexual women. And aside from laughing at how ridiculous it is that men think they can identify into womanhood, there is a rather loud pocket of radical feminists who don't see the irony of trying to identify as lesbians. The more I notice it the more it turns me off those spaces because a lot of the time those straight/bi women will ignore it. They either don't get it or don't care.

I will always support women's liberation. I won't support homophobia regardless of who or where it's coming from.

It does feel like we face all kinds of lesbophobia from all kinds of people. Don't let it get you too down and stressed out though. Lesbian activists are out there trying to organize and effect change. You may have problems finding them because the safety risks mean women need to stay somewhat covert, but every day I see more and more women fed up with all the abuse and homophobic harassment openly finding other like-minded women. No movement, activist or otherwise, is free of problems or infighting. Lesbians have long called out the homophobia of heterosexual/bisexual feminists. We as lesbians have to search for one another. We have to form these groups.

I would like to offer my personal opinion on something you said.

The only right that not all women have yet is abortion, and although I support it, it is not a right that we as lesbians need

I think that even in liberal western countries, women undermine how many rights we have and how easily they can be stripped away. Like abortion. Right now governments are aggressively trying to restrict access to abortion and birth control regardless of that woman's sexual orientation. You can be charged with manslaughter in the US for miscarrying a fetus. Abortion rights affects all women. What happens when a lesbian is sexually assaulted and doesn't have legal access to abortion? What happens if a lesbian who miscarries a pregnancy that's the result of rape gets jailtime for it? Control of women's reproductive freedom is a central issue to most feminists, because violence against and hatred of women stems from our anatomy and potential to give birth. There are reasons forced pregnancy is considered a human rights violation.

There are so many ways that women's autonomy is stifled that outside of abortion and just speaking in general terms, I don't even believe it's true that it's the only right not all women have yet.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT. Lesbian spaces are so freeing in a way that's hard to even put into words. It's so nice to be with women who just get you!

It can almost make you feel guilty in a way when you try to talk to straight women/het-partnered bi women about your lesbian love life. I've had friends who are completely at ease with it, but they are so few and far between at times that it can get lonely when you're not able to gush about your latest crush or girlfriend the way straight/bi women can openly and freely talk about men.

I try to stay balanced with a healthy dose of skepticism, but there are some certain experiences that have shaken me up to the point where I'm not sure what I believe. It's one thing to hear a ghost story/creepy encounter from someone else. When you go through something similarly unexplainable, it's hard for me not to consider the possibility that there are weird things going on in the world that can't be explained with our current knowledge and measurements. The supernatural, for lack of a better term.

As for my first comment, I'm not entirely sure what was going on with me. I was definitely fully awake and alert and not particularly stressed before the incident happened. I won't discount the possibility that I hallucinated the whole thing. Aside from that incident, there are other times I was in a group that saw something supposedly supernatural/paranormal and that's much harder to handwave away as a trick or simple misunderstanding.

In conclusion, I still don't believe in ghosts and I have no idea but it would be amazing if we got answers to these weird phenomena in our lifetime.

It sounds silly when I tell the story but when I was little there was a girl I had never seen before in my home. I freaked out because I was home alone. I tried to ask her who she was and how she got in here, but she didn't say anything. She just looked up at me like she was too tired to speak.

Because she looked so much younger than me I figured she was lost or ran away from home. I started to ask if she wanted anything to eat. While I'm panicking and thinking about how I'll keep her busy until an adult gets home she starts disappearing in front of me. I was so confused and taken by surprise that I couldn't look away. Her body just went all transparent and gray until there was nothing. I waved my arm where she was just standing--nothing. The spot she was standing in was noticeably colder than the rest of the room. This was a summer day, early afternoon, sunlight streaming in from every window, and I couldn't find any rational explanation for what I just saw. I locked myself in the bedroom and only came out to pee.

You ever see a person disappear, almost evaporate, right before your eyes? I don't even believe in ghosts but I still think I haven't fully recovered from that. The fact that I was fully awake and it was the middle of the day is somehow creepier than if it were at night because then I could easily write it off as my mind playing tricks on me.

All of it. Seriously, whenever I hear about things that men find unattractive in women it's usually things I like or even love. Oh, she's muscular? Oh, she doesn't shave her legs? She doesn't wear any makeup? Has tattoos? Has hobbies you think are dumb? Is ambitious, educated, assertive, intelligent, generally has any kind of personality? She sounds lovely.

I swear, most men are so fragile and hate it when women aren't perfect little dolls.

Lesbians venting about homophobia and misogyny is questionable content now? Am I in the right sub?

That sounds all well and good in theory until you pay attention to what's actually been happening. Everything we do is already looked through with a fine tooth comb. The tiniest "sins" (whether it's talking about pussy or expressing disgust over penises in ostensibly lesbian spaces) get removed from Reddit all the time. Unless you completely capitulate to their every whim and cognitively dissonant stance it's literally a matter of time.

The problem is that they consider even questioning trans ideology egregious. Hearing about the targeting of subs like GenderCritical, LGBDropTheT, detrans, PCOS, pregnancy, and even TrueLesbians from Reddit is peaking that middle ground of people very effectively, but TRAs don't see that reasonable content as reasonable. They see it as an attack. Anything that makes them feel "invalidated" is an attack. Do you understand how even if you try to play along with their imagined reality, they don't care unless you agree with everything they say? I swear some people here care more about saving face in front of people who hate us for being lesbians than they care about lesbians.

Sorry but how is that a good thing? Literally anything that hurts trans people's feelings is enough to be labeled transphobic or literal violence. I've seen people say that everything from female anatomy to sex to homosexuality being transphobic. I don't see why we should care if trans people think calling them out on homophobia or sexism is "anti-trans." Not standing up for ourselves is how we got here. Banned and censored for daring to go against their disregard for other people.

As long as they don't like you, they will find a way to demonize you. I have seen so many trans allies get torns to shreds the minute they make the slightest mistake. Heck, a lot of us were allies before we saw what they've been doing to protect "trans rights."

No woman I have ever met in my life gets off on using pads, tampons, menstrual cups, pantiliners, etc. They are literal necessities with huge stigma attached to them because men see our bodies and bodily functions as dirty. Most women want to get used menstrual products as far away from themselves as possible as quickly as possible and manage the inconveniences that periods bring.

[–]Lez 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I have to laugh any time someone says that society tells gay people they can only love penis/vagina because it is so out of touch with the reality of being homosexual.

Some TRAs genuinely don't seem to understand that regardless of how the world views us, there will always be people who recognize that their romantic and sexual attraction is same-sex only. It didn't come from society, society didn't "teach" it to us, that attraction was already there. Trying to erase or replace the definition of homosexuality doesn't actually get rid of homosexuality itself.

While it may not fit the legal definition of child pornography, it is definitely exploitative of the underage actors.

Not to mention some of the scenes are super sketchy. There was way too much sexualization of the little girls in that film to be accidental, in my opinion. The camera lingers on their prepubescent bodies (especially their butts and crotches) way too often, that one scene with the horny security guard was played off for laughs, and most of all the supposed "don't sexualize children!" message of the film gets lost when the movie spends so much of its runtime sexualizing its child actresses.

Anyone else heard about the new lesbian TikTok “rapper”? by Gusher in Lesbians

[–]Lez 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If her videos are getting millions of views and turned into TikTok memes she's already internet famous. There's no real stopping it until she becomes irrelevant. The sad thing is this music isn't much worse than a lot of the other songs on the radio.

Media kids are exposed to has just been getting more and more explicitly sexual at younger and younger ages for years now. It's harming a lot of young girls. Women decades ago warned us this would happen. Porn and suggestive material is everywhere now, easily accessbile by gradeschool kids, and I find it disturbing how often I see children 15 and younger talking openly online about hardcore fetishes and BDSM like its a meme. Even worse, they're sometiems putting sexual images and videos of themselves online (a lot of it on the TikTok app). They don't realize how much they're going to regret all of that down the line.

I think this problem goes way beyond just one trashy lesbian rapper. It's going to take a lot to undo the damage that this hypersexual culture is doing to girls. (EDIT: I just watched one of her videos and she's half-naked humping and twerking all over a guy. I don't know about you gals but that doesn't sound very lesbian to me, no matter how much she raps about pussy while doing it.)

What do these young lesbians think womanhood even is? by Lavalanche17 in Lesbians

[–]Lez 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, I felt a lot like this before and after I realized I was attracted to girls growing up. So much of "being a girl/woman" is directly tied to pleasing or placating men and acting out feminine gender roles. People act like lesbians are defective women because we're not attracted to men. Or worse, they think we actually want to be men because we don't fit their stereotypical idea of what a woman should act like, look like, or do. That definitely led me to internalize a lot of misogyny and lesbophobia when I was younger. It's what sucks a lot of young lesbians into the TQ black hole and you can tell it's getting worse just looking at the number of detransitioned lesbians coming out in waves.

That said... I went to her profile and she uploaded this and this. So she's just yet another bisexual woman calling herself a lesbian/gay.

[–]Lez 18 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 0 fun19 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I feel this. It's one of the burdens of being considered part of any minority group. Something that just so happens to be part of who you are is politicized, and everyone wants to pull apart your motivations or assign you with a specific opinion on every and any issue because of stereotypes when you just want to go about your life. Regardless of whether some stereotypes end up being true in my case, it can feel like I'm under a microscope all the time once people know I'm a lesbian.

A lot of this is because people won't stop hijacking or bastardizing lesbianism to serve their political agenda. Lesbian means female homosexual. That's it. It's not a personality trait, it's not something you can identify into, it's just a sexuality.

I tried to stay busy by making things. Crafting things with my hands, working on projects, learning how to do stuff I didn't know how to before all kept me preoccupied while it created mental distance between myself and past relationships. There is something therapeutic about hobbies where you can turn your feelings into something new. It's also a nice distraction from those little things you cling to after a breakup that gets you feeling all melodramatic.

And wow, talk about a blast from the past! I don't know about you all but I could never make out the exact lyrics to this song when it came on the radio. Do I believe in love after love? Life after life? Luff after luff? All my friends would say they heard different things lol. Anyway this song is still a banger and the music video makes me smile in all its dated late 90s glory.

Anyone else really hate drag? by sunzzy in Lesbians

[–]Lez 23 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 0 fun24 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I hate drag too. I don't care if a man is gender nonconforming. If he wants to wear makeup or likes clothes or hobbies that are traditionallly feminine, that's fine with me. But drag as a supposed "art" is a joke at the expensive of women. Rarely do I ever see these drag performers who people claim are satirizing female gender roles and not actual women.

People trying to convince others of this "it's just satire bro" idea often come across to me as if they were trying to pass off men like Tyler Perry playing Madea as creative geniuses. If I wanted a critique of the artificiality of sex stereotypes I would be listening to an actual woman who is pressured to conform to them. Not a dude doing a sexualized performance. Some act like drag can't be criticized because some (not all, mind you) gay men like it. I don't care if straight women like it. Drag more often than is not misogynistic.

I hate how gaudy over-the-top displays like drag and kink are portrayed as parts of LGB culture.

According to the comments this was a troll thing. But real bi women do this all the time and it's the worst. And non-lesbians fall for it. As much as I love my bi friends I can't stand the women who decide it will be fun to roleplay as lesbians, sleep with guys, then give people the impression that our sexuality is "fluid" or whatever. Most of the fake lesbians do this just to look appealing to men and it's disgusting. I'm tired of it too.

What is so great about being a lesbian? People give you hell for it all the time and try to force men on you like you're some kind of breathing sex toy. Fake lesbians feed into this lesbophobia. But we're not allowed to point it out because it hurts bi women's feelings. Boohoo. If you like men you're not a dyke, you're bisexual!
