If they were "setting shit on fire," - I do not consider that a peaceful protest.
It they were walking down the street carrying signs and chanting slogans, I am all for Americans to assemble for this kind of peaceful protest. Our country is founded on protest and freedom of speech, freedom of assembly.

If, in the evening/night, a different group of people are burning buildings and breaking windows, just because they can get away with it in the confusion (and are just breaking windows to steal things to enrich themselves, with no regard to what the daytime people protesters are arguing for... I have almost no sympathy for that behavior. That is just simply selfish opportunism.) That is a different event, that needs to be handled differently. I think you and I can agree on that position.

In this example, the people were peacefully protesting that they wanted police to do their job correctly (not the overuse of force beyond what is necessary). Arresting someone for slapping another person ("Simple Assault") is part of police doing their job correctly = aligns with what the people are peacefully protesting for.
Now, if the police then arrested that person for "Simple Assault" (a misdemeanor) and then handcuffed them, threw them to the ground, and put a knee on their neck until they died - THIS would be incongruous to what the people are asking for.

Every country has scissors and somehow manages to get by without shooting strungout out-of-shape women. Pick up one of those chairs and pin her with the four legs on the ground, or swing it to hurt her arm/drop the scissors.
Don't get me wrong, I understand how this gets "justified shooting," and we are all on this site to "WatchPeopleDie" (not "Watch People Get Arrested"). But this definitely could have been done without lethal force. I'm sure he has mace on his belt. At least spray her in the face, and while she's fucked-up disarm her.

1) This is a good example that the movies, with every bad-guy dropping with 1 bullet, is not like real life.
2) This is the amount of restraint I would like to see police using before shooting (depending of the situation of course).
Got a baby with a knife to its throat... (swak him!)
Got a knife, a bottle of cola, and obviously drunk/high... (let's see if we can work this out first) That cop really didn't want to shoot that guy.

Because this WPD has so few users, I tend to lurk and not comment as much as back on reddit wpd. With so few users, don't want to take the chance of ruffling anyone's feathers. I assume, as the number of users increases, there will naturally be more conversation = a sense of community again. (it is quiet here so far, but not toxic either)

The sub is slowly growing, but still very small compared to reddit days. So my personal opinion is "It's fine. Doesn't bother me at all."

Went to Guam; enjoyed the beach, hiking, shooting range. The owner of the range was really jittery (and was making me nervous). After shooting there for quite a while, he started to loosen up and talk normally. Told me it happens from time to time, so he tries to watch carefully. "Ordered a day for 2, but only he showed up alone. Kind of quiet and introverted. Shot a couple of rounds before turning it on himself... These people think it is convenient out here away from peers.
