Anyway I have things in common with other women sometimes. But also some things I don't have in common like by some ways I have more in common with a working man from my own culture than I have with a rich woman not from my culture just as an example. Like if she doesn't work a job she won't worry about losing a job for getting pregnant. But a man at my same job even if he can't get pregnant he might lose the job for getting sick, so he will know how much it sucks where a rich woman or a woman who relies on a man for income has said to me things like "well don't worry just get another job" like it's easy.

I think you're thinking of Iran. I don't think Saudi Arabia makes any additional leeway for TiMs than for other homosexuals, whereas Iran has a law that homosexuality is illegal but transsexuality (with surgeries etc.) is allowed.

I didn't knownthat about wages. That does seem to prove that women (or people perceived as women) get paid less. Although I guess it could also be that TiMs are paid less in general, since a lot of places don't want a TiM representing them especially if he's obvious looking, so they have to settle for worse jobs.

I had internalized misogyny that manifested as "not like the other girls" because I resented girls who liked looking more feminine than me, wearing makeup and heels, etc. I developed a close friendship with another girl who was very feminine in her appearance and had interests in fashion and perfume as well as her other interests that we had in common. It made me realize how our culture uses things like makeup and heels to not only objectify is for men but also to make it harder to see each other as real people. I never had a romantic relationship with her but it was the closest non-romantic relationship I've had with another woman and it made me feel more comfortable with my lack of feminine trappings. It was almost like we had a butch/femme dynamic that made it ok for me to inhabit the butch role outside of a lesbian relationship. After that I was much less threatened by other women wearing dramatic makeup or so-called feminine fashion. The solidarity is what matters.

I'm an Old(tm) so to me "he/him lesbians" makes me think of back when being a gay woman was illegal, and butch/femme culture wasn't just for fun or a preference, it was a tool for survival out in public. Sorry for the lack of description. Leslie Feinberg was a Jewish butch lesbian born in a working class family in the 50s and this book is a fictionalized autobiography that takes place over a long period of time. It contains descriptions of misogynistic and homophobic violence at the hands of men, including police violence and several rape scenes. It's very hard to read but it's also a beautifully written classic of lesbian literary history.
