Thanks for the update. I probably won't be commenting much around here anymore (here or the larger Saidit). I have my reasons. Was tempted to nuke the account entirely but that's a bit childish, as is a big drama post (as opposed to a small drama-comment, which this could be considered).

I tend to view the pagans as archetypes and thus aspects of God (or aspects of the human psyche, which is a much lower frequency of God, "created in His image"). Yes, of course they are psychopaths because they represent purified essences, and any behavior taken to an extreme is going to be psychopathic. The point isn't to worship a single deity, it's to understand how they function together to make a unified whole. It's a mirror of own own psyche, and thus a mirror of God.

Christians seem to function without this (well, not Catholics: they reproduced the whole idea with the saints). I don't really understand Protestantism, so I can't comment on it. I grew up Roman Catholic and ported my belief system to Buddhism (which makes more intellectual sense to me) and a form of paganism that makes more emotional sense to me, even as I still use Catholic prayers as part of my spiritual practice.

I tend to view scripture through the lens of resonance. The longer the passage has survived, and the more people who venerate it, the more resonance it has. Regardless of source (pedo prophet, scammy leader, schizo, whatever).

From a functional perspective, reciting prayers that have withstood the test of time, especially using older linguistic forms, tends to produce results. By results, I mean altered mental states, that when repeated over time have demonstrable effects in ones life. I am a loving spouse, a compassionate and effective manager, and revered within my technical discipline, precisely because of the seriousness to which I apply meditation, prayer, etc. Most importantly, I am closer to that Kingdom of Heaven we talked about in another thread. Could I have achieved all these things without meditation, prayer, etc.? Maybe. But it wasn't until I took these disciplines seriously that I started to see concrete results in my life.

This isn't the result of God rewarding you with grace, siddhis or whatever, it's just a natural result of resonating at a frequency that permits these changes.

You can't attain the Kingdom of Heaven while you're chasing tail (of whatever gender). All addictions are problematic, not just sexual addiction. I am not a Christian (at least not by the criteria accepted by most people who call themselves Christians), I am a pagan who believes in a Supreme Being that presides over a potentially infinite number of divine beings that could be thought of as archangels, gods etc. (there are technical differences between all of these but that's a detail not relevant here). The Supreme Being doesn't care about anything that we care about, He is too remote, too large. Individual divine beings may or may not care, depending on the personality. Prayer, offering, sacrifice, etc. allow you to resonate with one or more of these beings, which in turn brings you closer the Supreme Being (on average ... certain metaphysical beings probably complicate matters, you know which ones I'm talking about). When you resonate with those beings (the right ones anyway) you get closer to the Kingdom of Heaven. The "afterlife" is a more complicated topic because time is an illusion, so the concept of "after" is problematic. Let's just say that there is an Eternal Present and in that Present you can be in the Kingdom of Heaven or you can be in Hell. My personal opinion is that attending MPX piss orgies is not behavior that tends to promote a heavenly state of mind.

It's a structural property, it doesn't even have anything to do with the inclinations of individuals, it results from the long-term average behavior of the system as a whole.

My personal hypothesis is that this is an effort to herd gay men into a vaccination campaign that will introduce other, undisclosed agents along with the leaky Vx they are promising. Reminds me of the conspiracy theory that HIV was introduced via the Hepatitis vaccine campaigns of the 70s. Obviously I don't have any hard evidence for this, it just feels like this is the purpose: it was unacceptable to advocate for limiting sexual partners until after most of the gays had already gotten their first shot (and even then you can only say hey guys maybe you should limit your contacts to 2 a week instead of 10). The only acceptable solution was a shitty vaccine that doesn't even really work (and now they're splitting the doses into fifths).

Yes, I'm seeing people post this article in several places. It suggests that the large majority of transmissions are sexual. But it still not necessarily 100% (remember that closely related smallpox can be transmitted via bedding). Even if transmissions are 99% MSM sex (and I think that's probably close to the truth), the rare canine case could easily be due to the 1% non-sexual transmission. I think bedding is a more likely vector in this case.

I have a doctorate in a biomedical field. Worked in public health for a long time until moving to private industry. I have noticed that, regarding covid, experts who have contradicted the narrative have been silenced, often quickly and harshly. Numerous peer-reviewed studies have since come out documenting the statistical and/or biological evidence that the mRNA covid vaccines did more harm than good -- they do not get any press. Whatever the truth is about the covid vaccines, the opposing viewpoint is not getting any air time. Even if the official narrative turns out to be true, the silencing of opposing viewpoints (e.g. branding those who espouse them "narcissists") will only reinforce the so-called conspiracy theories.

In short: you're doing harm to your own cause in the long run. The motives for articles such as this one are transparent, and people can see right through you.

I realize my voice might be relatively unpopular here, but the recent self-righteous doubling down on defense of unhealthy behaviors in the wake of MPX is going to nail the coffin shut. We sexual minorities can exist only if allowed by the sexual majority, and thus optics are of paramount importance. It is not a good look to cry about muh sexual freedom when the rest of society is already suspicious of our (collective) sexual promiscuity and interprets our response to a disease outbreak as casual. You can see this happening on the general Saidit subs: a non-negligible fraction of general Saidit members have already written off gay men in our entirety.

While TQ+ doesn't help us, we are adding our own serious shortcomings to the negative perceptions, and I'm starting to think that our general unwillingness to call TQ+ out is part of a larger picture of self-absorption and failure to understand long-term consequences.

What kind of touching? Not all touch is equal. If causal touch were a common transmission pathway, then MP would have leaked out into the general population much faster than it has. MP is not strictly speaking sexually transmitted, but functionally it behaves as such.

You can probably get MP by massage, but you can get crabs the same way (crab lice infestation functions as a STI even though strictly speaking it is not). I have been able to avoid crabs by not having casual sex, even though I have probably encountered people who have it (in environments with high gay male concentration).

Edit: I'm not really a fan of trying to downplay the sexual component of this. Even if 10% of transmissions end up being nonsexual, it doesn't detract from the fact that most of the time transmission will have occurred through sexual contact. I've about had it with gay men who are so committed to casual sex that they will avoid obvious conclusions about disease transmission in order to continue behavior that is unhealthy both physically and emotionally. I actually do have some experience with infectious disease epidemiology so I'm not a moron about how this operates in a complex system.

Jynneos is comparatively new. It's supposed to have fewer side-effects than the older-generation vaccines, but it hasn't been around long enough to know for sure. Note that the older-generation vaccines were not particularly safe, and their adoption was justified only by the risk/benefit tradeoff of preventing a serious and lethal disease. Jynneos may be fine, but I feel like gay men are being used for Phase-4/RWE testing.

I am coming to believe that the gay male community is being used as an in-vivo experiment. You must accept the Vx to combat MP, no other solution [e.g. temporary abstinence] is possible. This feels like a narrative that is being shaped from outside, so the question is why? The likely answer is that the "outside influence" needs the Vx to be the solution to the problem that MP creates. So my next question is, what else is in the Vx? Here's the problem: truly homo-hating people will hate you no matter how you behave. There's a lot of people who hate the promiscuity but are otherwise begrudgingly fine with gay men like you and me who understand the physical and emotional importance of chastity/monogamy, and I have no problem with them (even their begrudging tolerance as opposed to the wild enthusiasm demanded by the LGBTQ+ crowd). But there are people who have their own sexual continence issues who still hate you for being gay no matter what you do or do not do. They can't see their own hypocrisy, which is almost as bad as the gay guys you and I see on Reddit. Almost.

I agree with what you write. I'm a gay man and I think being homosexual is suboptimal, all other things being equal. However, no human being is perfect, everybody has some cross to bear or some failing. While I might have rather been heterosexual, the fact is that I'm not, and trying to force the issue would do more damage to myself and others than to make the best of the situation at hand and live the best and most honorable life given the constraints. Consequently, I'm a relatively happy person in a satisfying and stable same-sex marriage. I wouldn't wish homosexuality for anybody; but given that some people are gay, I'd rather have a society that allowed gay people to be happy in that state (and provided incentives towards healthy behavior) than to punish us for the fact of our existence. I feel like some people -- unfortunately a growing proportion of people on this site -- are of the punishing mindset.

I agree with you, but there are two forces in play right now. One of them is the force you allude to: gay men failing to take responsibility for their sexual behavior and, additionally, shunning gay men who want to promote the idea of sexual responsibility in gay male culture (I have experienced this). But on the other hand you have a contingent of straight people who will blame gay people no matter what. In particular, you will find people who oppose same-sex marriage -- a generally stabilizing force (even though imperfect) -- out of pure spite. I find it particularly amusing that certain people on this platform allude to their own less-than-stellar sexual morals as straight men, yet still condemn gay men. Flaming hypocrites.

Anyway, we're all doomed. Monkeypox will lead to lockdowns for everybody (whether warranted or not) and gay men will get left holding all the blame.
