Literally the same for me. It was mentioned so much as a horrible place you should avoid when searching for some gender nonsense I was interested in. Reading just a few posts had my brain tingling and lightbulbs going on. Saved me from identifying as not like the other girls nonbinary.

The pro-sex "feminism" just upholds the patriarchy. Funnily enough, she even said in her post, paraphrasing, "rad fems say that sex-positivity supports the patriarchy, but it doesn't!". Like okay I'll just take your word for it that it doesn't then, I guess?

I occasionally lurked there for shits and giggles and I find it extraordinarily telling that they banned an anticapitalist sub. The sub was occasionally also anti-pornography as many correctly saw it as a consumerist exploitation harmful to society, albeit not necessarily for feminist reasons.

That makes no sense. Perhaps it's an illustration of the tim's thinking "if I can't be a woman neither can you?"

No, I am saying we shouldn't intentionally sexualise children.

I am not from the US or America at all so I don't know what you mean. I'm from a very sexually liberal society, but we have to draw a line somewhere.

Oh god oh god oh god I watched that clip and I just wanted it to be over. I need to watch some puppies cuddling or something or wash my eyes with bleach.

Why is it so long? And so explicit? She could have chosen different camera angles, focus on the audience, ANYTHING, over crotch shots of children who are simulating intercourse.

Disgusting. I'm getting off the internet for today.

In other words, if you previously had a uterus and then had a hysterectomy, but continued experiencing period pain, that would be phantom period pain. As my brain and spinal cord have never been attached to a prostate, I could never experience phantom prostrate pain, much like these men do not experience any sensation produced by a uterus, and are highly unlikely ever to do so.

It's very interesting to see that her main source of claims is other instagram posts and social media in general, and not academic writers, considering that she herself is an academic. It tells me how watered down the idea of feminism has become, and what's left by the time it reaches an average person.

There was a time some years ago when I heard a lot of "everybody can be a feminist" in the media and even though I was very young, I was conflicted about the idea. Surely, there are requirements for calling yourself a feminist, surely there are core ideas you must believe, I thought. The entry requirements disappeared and you no longer had to feel uncomfortable abour your ignorance, or feel pressured to learn more. Whatever you were doing, whoever you were, congratulations, you were now a feminist. We truly are living in a post-truth dystopia.

Yeah I think I am going to do that. There's zero sources provided for the claims made. I could also say things like that- did you know ornithologists are actually bat-exclusive? They think bats are disgusting and just study birds because they're bird supremacists. They blame bats for all bird problems. We need to stop this cruel bat-shaming. Don't associate with orinthologists!

You're totally right, though, weakened as we are, our community keeps fragmenting. I know we're supposed to be looking forward and finding a way to make ourselves heard and understood but I don't even know how anymore.

There's been a lot of talk about racism in our communities and I wouldn't say it's completely off base either, but then again, a young white woman in a European country saying feminism is about sexual liberation is also being inadvertently racist.

We can all definitely work on trying to understand problems from different perspectives. I wouldn't say we're white supremacists, however .

“For a lot of trans folks, we experience dysphoria, which for folks who don't know is a word that means a very strong of strong, deep discomfort with either parts of our body, and/or parts of our appearance that align with the sex that we were assigned at birth,"

Emphasis mine. I fully understand not liking the feeling of your hair being too long for your taste. I have short hair too, so I understand the feeling well. But, this kind of "boys have short hair, girls have long hair" thinking is exactly the sort of harmful genderist dogma that's making these people so unhappy. It seems like for many, especially nbies, their dysphoria is based on social perceptions of their sex. Really makes me sad the women who need it the most might never learn about radical feminism.

This is how I see it as well! We are social beings who exist less in what we consider to be our worlds but more in a balance of power and political systems. For women, this is an oppressive system, what intentionally, what historically. But I find psychology useful, because we need to understand the human devotion to status quo if we want to dismantle it. Taking a radical position in feminism is a political act. It informs my choices and beliefs more than anything else.

Yeah if their belief system is so solid, why should people not read allegedly wrong opposing opinions. Any good educator of any kind will tell you that reading things you disagree with is extremely important for the development of critical thinking skills, especially in areas of politics and sociology. If our ideas are so strong that one single piece of writing can sway people, then wow, maybe they should be bloody reading it.
