Exactly! I've seen this same argument lobbed at straight women (which I am one). It's like...no, part of the enjoyment of PIV is the mutual pleasure aspect of it. That we're both feeling sensations at the same time from this one act. It's not close to the same thing as a man sticking a dildo in me. I can do that myself.

I don't know if I'm articulating this very well, hopefully you know what I mean.

I have some sympathy because I feel like TIFs tend to pass more than TIMs. So if she was clocked at this party before she undressed, she is really not passing at all. Her friend invited her, and when she wasn't sure, her friend insisted it would be fine and the party would be "inclusive". And then when it wasn't fine for her at all, he insisted she stay. This whole thing obviously really messed with her head, and her friend never should have put her in this position.

I tend to have a bit more sympathy for young TIFs, for all the reasons outlined by Shrier. They're a vulnerable group.

It was definitely inappropriate for her to be there, but I sort of feel like she was conned into it.

This is so ironic because they regularly claim that if we don't agree that transwomen are women, we're denying they exist.

Which, as a side note, is a ludicrous argument because by extension what this argument says is that men don't exist.

I don't know how old you are, but does anyone remember 80s punk culture? Like, none of these people made up new or different genders for themselves. They just styled themselves this way and did whatever they did. Sure it attracted attention, but nobody was demanding anyone alter their language.

Somewhat related, I've mentioned before on the old sub that I don't like the language of "survivor" in place of "victim". The insinuation is that it's shameful to say actually, somebody did something to me. When in reality, I have no choice but to try to keep surviving, but it doesn't mean I'm doing ok, it doesn't mean I'm strong, and I don't need to wear "survivor" as a badge of honor when I'm just struggling to get up in the morning and brush my teeth.

It it makes someone feel better to term themselves a survivor after a traumatic event, I won't begrudge them. But I really dislike the shift towards it seeming like a requirement, otherwise you're branded as an inferior poor-me attention grabber who's wallowing in it.

I read today that the first man he killed was shot in the back.

Also, I'm not really giving the benefit of the doubt that a man ideologically opposed to the protests showed up there with an assault weapon. Was he really there not looking to start some shit?

Lastly, I agree that the men who were shot were trash for the reasons you mentioned, but Rittenhouse had no way of knowing that about them.

All of that said, as I mentioned, my take on what actually took place isn't based on a detailed understanding. The point I'm getting at is the volume of blame directed at the mother.

Awhile back, maybe last year, I got into an argument with a trans person on GCDebatesQT. The person was trying to make the argument that the head of the penis is analogous to the clitoris. I said, no, it isn't. And he kept trying to argue that I was ignorant to anatomy. So I asked, do you even know what a clitoris looks like? He said, of course I do. So I said, describe it to me. He kept dodging, acting like he was above it, of course I know what it looks like, how dare you.

Finally he did describe to me what he thought a clitoris looks like. He said it looks like a little button that is located in between the upper part of the inner labia or something like that. When I said, WRONG, and showed him an anatomical diagram of a clitoris, he got testy (testes?).

On a different note, about a year or two ago, I tried to find an anatomical diagram showing the internal clitoris showing the cross-sectional relational position to the vagina, since I had a theory about why orgasms feel the way they do. I couldn't find one though.

I also want to find an anatomical diagram that shows the internal clitoris's relational position to the pudendal nerve. No luck there either.

You know, another thing I thought of after posting this...a FB friend of mine recently mentioned that she is "queer". This doesn't really provide any meaningful information. She's female and presents as stereotypically feminine. So she could be a lesbian, or bi, or identify as non-binary, or a pre-transition trans man even? (Shes relatively young.) Or maybe even one of these yahoos that thinks being poly means they are part of the LGBTQ+++ community. I, of course, am not entitled to that information about her. But then what's the point of mentioning it?

Beyond my original question of whether or not it's offensive, or in poor taste, it just seems like a meaningless term in today's climate.

I might also be misinformed.

Yes, I remember the LGB movement as wanting to gain acceptance. Sure, there were individuals who preferred to stand out more than others, but still it was about living their lives as they are. Nothing like what I see happening nowadays. Where the QT seems to be almost purposely trying to be abrasive and confrontational (do they realize they're doing this?) and steamroll other groups. I wonder if that phenomenon is related to taking on a slur as an encompassing identifier.

I have short hair, a pixie cut. For me personally, I style it feminine, I think it looks feminine on me, and I generally dress pretty feminine.

I hate this idea that short hair is associated with masculinity. I think a short haircut looks really pretty on me. That's not to say that it's not GNC for others. But it doesn't make me GNC.

Now there's a whole other question of the merits of appearing feminine, but honestly, it's just what I prefer and I find dresses much more comfortable than pants anyway.

I was more talking about sexual assault and domestic violence, which I think somewhere during the 90s, the language around that began to change. If I remember correctly, the idea was about empowerment, but I think it takes away emphasis from the perpetrator and places too much responsibility on the victim (or survivor if you prefer).

Ok, thanks for clarifying that. Fingers crossed for her. She has always had an air of a self assured child.

Hi there. I have a bit of a different take. I'm very familiar with Greenwald's work. I believe based on the tone of the article and his careful choice of words that he agrees with Martina.

He takes pains throughout the article to paint her as an admirable figure. He demonstrates how appalling TRAs behave. He shows what an asshole MacKinnon is, and how respectful Martina was in that exchange.

As for the issue of how he handles trans women in sports itself. Greenwald is an honest, factual journalist. He's legendary, as well as a lefty. Also in the LGBT community. He's not quite in a position to come right out and agree with her on this or he'll be canceled out of existence. Instead what he did is walked a fine line. He said he believes his intentions were good, that she wants to uphold the institution of women's sports that she worked so hard to build up (true). He throws a few bones to the TRAs that he KNOWS are rabid and says maybe she's misinformed (not necessarily inaccurate from a factual perspective, he's not a mind-reader). And then ultimately says I don't personally understand the science enough to ultimately make my own judgment on this matter (so not actually disagreeing with her). Which, he can get away with because he's not a science reporter. And he can eke by without enraging the TRAs, while also indicating to his sane readers that he doesn't necessarily buy into all of that.

When you take this all together with the overall tone of the article, I'm going to read between the lines and infer that he actually is Team Martina on this, and very cleverly gets this across while toeing the line enough. Or, at the very least, has constructed the article in just such a way to present this issue to a wider lefty audience where Greenwald is highly respected to show them the madness that is really going on in the trans/TRA community. If you take a look at the comments, people are peaking hard.

What do you do when there are trans women you actually like? by ImPiqued1111111 in GenderCritical

This is great advice, thanks. I tend to be on the harsher side of the critique, but I've been dealing with this nagging cognitive dissonance about actually, well, caring about individual people. Comments like this and others are helping me to snap out of that.

These are all really good points, and much to digest and think about. I'm going to keep these things in mind as I see these references in the media, and take note.

As to your question about propaganda, or an organized effort, have you read this article? It's not specific to the word "queer", but it goes into detail about some of the moneyed sources behind the current "LGBTQ", and specifically, trans movement. It is a very long article, but well worth a read. And I think touches on what you're getting at.

Thanks for giving me the chance to unload.

You're very welcome.

You have an outstanding way with words, and I'm going to read your post multiple times. You have made such great points, I don't even know how to sufficiently respond. This is so astute:

But embracing an insult is like adding zero to a whole number: The sum total doesn't change.

I've also once read a comment that there is so much conflicting logic within the trans community that it doesn't compute, like trying to divide by zero.

Your acquaintance also frames this question in a way I had never considered, thank you for that.

Thanks so much for giving me a lot to think about!

Question: Is there evidence that there is no such a thing as a male brain or a female brain? by AllInOne in GenderCritical

If that was the case, how are they measuring it? Are they doing brain scans to diagnose someone as a trans woman?

Is the TRA "Karen" meme antiwoman? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]ImPiqued1111111 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Meghan Murphy claims that "Karen" originated from a man on reddit who was complaining about his ex-wife regarding a custody battle. Her name was actually Karen. I haven't seen that anywhere else.

I've also commonly seen the assertion that "Karen" originated as a meme to describe racist white women who call the police on Black women.

I had thought that it was an extension to the "I need to see your manager" meme with that particular hairstyle, and later the name "Karen" was attached to that meme.

I'm still unsure which is factually correct.

Whatever the answer, I think it has evolved into something really misogynist that functions to silence and humiliate middle aged and older white women.

Hi!

I actually liked that sub a lot. I didn't spend too much time on it, but when I thought to drop by it was sort of satisfying in a way to actually confront (in a polite way) the TQ directly in a way that's normally not possible.
