I outright said in response to a thread that "Oh there is no WAY (spraying raid in the face of people) could backfire and get you arrested, beaten, or worse" and got a bunch of downvotes. And another comment I made on the same sub also got downvoted in no time

Then there are the autoban bots, how the community is split so hard that you have folks from both sides of many debates acting stupid on purpose to either discredit the side they are speaking for or to piss off the other side, Reddit's increasing crackdown...

Nah, what needs to be done is turning their own stuff against them. They want to seem like the liberal happy fun paradise site, but also keep TD. What needs to happen is getting the media on them - Reddit gets so much money from TD that they would be torn between admitting they are hypocrites and getting torn to shreds by fairly anti trump media, or removing TD and having the site get torn to shreds by a bunch of people pissed off that their stomping grounds were removed over a little media pressure

Antivax movement basically. It allowed for diseases to make a comeback which allows governments an excuse to shut down stuff. Combined with people by themselves shutting down that stuff and you get a censorship machine. It really sucks because the antivax movement brought about the very thing they were afraid of, and even if every government in the world was 100% honest and pure, all it takes is one corrupt person taking control to make it that saying anything, even with evidence, against stuff gets you shut down

That was the real danger behind the movement. Not the outbreaks, but governments and companies potentially using it to forward their own agendas

The shooter wanted the video to spread to cause chaos and make the divide between political sides wider. He predicted that the media would be drooling to release footage to get views, and he was right

Now it seems like the second part of it is coming to fruition - more division because now governments are cracking down and trying to stop it from spreading even though the cat is already out of the bag. This will only make people want to see it more and distrust the government more, and maybe even cause a decent chunk to see it as a false flag with the government trying to remove the video because of "something they got wrong in production that shows its fakeness"

First, some background.

Redditors aren't allowed to submit material that infringes someone else's copyrights. We (the Reddit admins) are required by law to process notices from people who say that material on Reddit violates their copyrights. I find this funny. This sounds like they are going the YouTube route, and yet they keep TD despite it being completely counter to the image they are trying to curate. They can't even censorship right! Very least, if you're going to go the "Big Brother" route, be consistent (I mean, don't go down that route at all, but if you're going down it, don't be stupidly inconsistent. Don't use 1984 as a guide book, people)

Eh, I wouldn't say that's completely the case. Part of the issue is that Critics watch this stuff so much that they start to get weird about it. Like how art evolved into abstract art that the average person is confused by but critics love while stuff the average joe loves gets torn apart by critics - The critics are bored of that stuff, so they end up conflicting with what people want

Still same issue, just that it's not ALL because they are paid off

I also have to say I'm impressed. So far the only replacement I found was dread, but that's on the darkweb so it's a bit more out of the way and as such could never be a replacement unless the internet itself is cracked down on and the wild west days completely end (so like... a couple years, tops :u). I ESPECIALLY love the transparency and how you dealt with the downvote issue and the issue of upvotes rarely going to the good posts instead of the funny/topical posts

The issue was that the shooter wanted the video spread. He basically played media outlets like a fiddle, doing everything specifically to pluck at media's strings and add more division and chaos by twisting stories

It's one thing to be uncensored. It's another thing when media pretends to be uncensored when they are curating every little thing to maximize an agenda

I'm sickened by that shooter, but I am REALLY hoping that this soon results in fines and such for media. Either be news and be neutral, or shut up and stop twisting stuff and publishing half truths
