We know exactly how harmful smartphones are (and don't think adults are harmed by them, just less so than kids) but everyone from schools, to employers to governments to credit card companies are forcing you to own one and use one daily. It's not like you can opt out.

The biggest difference between the Millennials and their predecessors was in how they viewed the world; teens today differ from the Millennials not just in their views but in how they spend their time. The experiences they have every day are radically different from those of the generation that came of age just a few years before them.

What happened in 2012 to cause such dramatic shifts in behavior? It was after the Great Recession, which officially lasted from 2007 to 2009 and had a starker effect on Millennials trying to find a place in a sputtering economy. But it was exactly the moment when the proportion of Americans who owned a smartphone surpassed 50 percent.

The more I pored over yearly surveys of teen attitudes and behaviors, and the more I talked with young people like Athena, the clearer it became that theirs is a generation shaped by the smartphone and by the concomitant rise of social media. I call them iGen. Born between 1995 and 2012, members of this generation are growing up with smartphones, have an Instagram account before they start high school, and do not remember a time before the internet. The Millennials grew up with the web as well, but it wasn’t ever-present in their lives, at hand at all times, day and night. iGen’s oldest members were early adolescents when the iPhone was introduced, in 2007, and high-school students when the iPad entered the scene, in 2010. A 2017 survey of more than 5,000 American teens found that three out of four owned an iPhone.

More comfortable in their bedrooms than in a car or at a party, today’s teens are physically safer than teens have ever been. They’re markedly less likely to get into a car accident and, having less of a taste for alcohol than their predecessors, are less susceptible to drinking’s attendant ills.

Psychologically, however, they are more vulnerable than Millennials were: Rates of teen depression and suicide have skyrocketed since 2011. It’s not an exaggeration to describe iGen as being on the brink of the worst mental-health crisis in decades. Much of this deterioration can be traced to their phones.

In the early 1970s, the photographer Bill Yates shot a series of portraits at the Sweetheart Roller Skating Rink in Tampa, Florida. In one, a shirtless teen stands with a large bottle of peppermint schnapps stuck in the waistband of his jeans. In another, a boy who looks no older than 12 poses with a cigarette in his mouth. The rink was a place where kids could get away from their parents and inhabit a world of their own, a world where they could drink, smoke, and make out in the backs of their cars. In stark black-and-white, the adolescent Boomers gaze at Yates’s camera with the self-confidence born of making your own choices—even if, perhaps especially if, your parents wouldn’t think they were the right ones.

Fifteen years later, during my own teenage years as a member of Generation X, smoking had lost some of its romance, but independence was definitely still in. My friends and I plotted to get our driver’s license as soon as we could, making DMV appointments for the day we turned 16 and using our newfound freedom to escape the confines of our suburban neighborhood. Asked by our parents, “When will you be home?,” we replied, “When do I have to be?”

But the allure of independence, so powerful to previous generations, holds less sway over today’s teens, who are less likely to leave the house without their parents. The shift is stunning: 12th-graders in 2015 were going out less often than eighth-graders did as recently as 2009.

I had long wanted to leave Reddit because of the previous purges and having realized what was happening with SJWs taking over the site and ideologically infiltrating Reddit itself. Seems to me like there's plenty of volunteer censors in AHS that have nothing better to do all day then to track down shit they supposedly don't want to see anyway (though I personally think they honestly get off tracking down and watching it), and then neg Reddit to have it removed. Back on Reddit, the radical feminist subreddits /r/GenderCritical and /r/pinkpillfeminism were just involved in some feminist pissing-match where they try to out-radical one another. The League of Extraordinary Trolls is a group of extremely well-organized and rabidly dedicated SJW vigilantes and cyberstalkers on Reddit who want to purge anyone who doesn't subscribe to their far left SJW ideology from the platform. The League Trolls basically want to turn Reddit into into an SJW-only platform. In 2018, the League Trolls met with Reddit developers in private at the Reddit HQs, feeding them the SJW party line about how Reddit have an obligation to keep their users safe on their platform by shielding them from opposing views. That's what League Troll /u/Bardfinn literally said in this Twitter thread, that he wants Reddit to adopt Twitter-like blocking features, including BlockTogether-style blacklists that he urged Reddit to implement in this thread where he was called out by Reddit users for wanting to turn Reddit into a safespace hugbox. People used go to Reddit because it was long considered a Debate Central free speech website online, but The League Trolls are here to not only /r/WatchRedditDie but to help euthanize Reddit a little faster.

The League of Extraordinary Trolls has two faces, one is private face and other the public one they show to the media to distract and misdirect. The media will tell you that the Lague Trolls are a group of harmless pranksters on Reddit who hijack "hate-subs" and turn them into comedy subs. An example of this was their hijacking of /r/Faggots, which was Milo Yiannopoulos' sub, and turning it into a comedy sub about "a bundle of sticks" (the homonym for "fags").

The private face of the League is more sinister. The League runs a subreddit called /r/QueersAgainstHateSubs which widely recognized amongst Redditors as the subreddit you go to in order to dig up dirt on your enemies. Quote from a Reddit user: "They [QueersAgainstHateSubs] will dig up dirt like it's nobody's business."

The main moderator of this sub, a pre-op transwoman from Garland, TX who goes by Penelope Verity Oaken aka /u/Bardfinn (a powermod who is currently cybersquatting 50+ subs either alone or together with other League Trolls) is privately running a fully automated industrialized data-mining operating using Reddit's API to cyberstalk users and mods he and others in /r/QueerAgainstHateSubs don't like. Penny claims that this is "research" using public information, but Penny is not a researcher and this data is not readily available unless you have API access. None of Penny's software or research is public or open source, it is not announced anywhere or explained anywhere, everything is done in secret behind the Reddit users' and mods' backs, with no one giving prior consent to anything or even being made aware of the fact that Penny is secretly data-mining them. Penny claims to have had private conversations with Reddit's Steve Huffman about his secret data-mining project, so presumably Steve Huffman is aware of all this and Penny is cyberstalking and data-mining Steve's users with his full blessings.

Penny abuses his access to Reddit's API (Application Programming Interface, a protocol that programmers use to access data from web servers quickly and efficiently) to dig up embarassing information about someone's use of the website (f.e., if they have participated on a subreddit that's considered problematic or controversial amongst SJWs, like /r/conspiracy or /r/conservative), and then Penny will corner the unsuspecting hapless user in the comments while holding up his "loot" to their face, saying something along the lines of: "I see you have been participating in /r/Noneofyourbusiness and /r/Mindyourownbusiness.". Penny does this to intimidate his political enemies and to cause a chilling effect, openly violating their privacy to discourage them from using the website the way it's intended to be used. It's essentially an automated mass-cyberstalking campaign in blatant violation of Reddit's own rules conducted under the thin guise of "creating comedy subs out of hate-subs". It specifically violates Section 7, which bars searchers accessing the API from using their research results in a way that compromises a user's privacy. Everything about this research, its secrecy, the reputation of the moderator's subreddit as being the place you go to on Reddit where "they dig up dirt like it's nobody's business", everything shows that this was designed and implemented to violate users' privacy.

Bardfinn claims that Reddit users have already called LE on him after seeing that Bitchute video (that /r/detrans ex-mod linked to; most people saw the original video when it was first posted to Youtube, so this video has been around longer than its Bitchute incarnation). I don't know if that's true though, considering how many times Bardfinn has lied before about being targeted. IMO the Bitchute video is too vague to warrant a report to LE because nothing explicit is being said, only implied by the maker of the video. We don't know who posted it and they haven't provided any other receipts to show they were substantially involved with AHS. Remember, these people aren't above self-victimization and planting things to make themselves look like mob-victims, so let's deny them that opportunity.

That said, I did once come across a post where Bardfinn claimed that, at some "large business that makes telecom/networking equipment" he used to work at, he once managed to put one of his co-workers behind bars for storing CP on the company network:

Here you have a guy claiming that he was once a pedo-catcher at his previous job... so why would he encourage others to plant CP on subreddits just to take them down? Another the thing I find weird: if a subreddit was quietly infiltrated by AHSers using sockpuppet accounts, who quietly waited until the moment they began planting CP there... Reddit Admins should be able to tell that this was happening by looking at the history of the account(s) that posted the CP to that particular subreddit. If that account had no prior interactions (or only normal interactions) with the subreddit, only to suddenly burst out with posting CP, Admins should be able to tell the CP was planted by an infiltrator... so why won't they? Don't Reddit Admins have an obligation themselves to inform LE about an account posting CP anywhere at all on their site?

The judgment acknowledges the national discussion about sex and gender that has taken place over recent years as the “transgender debate”. The era of “No Debate” around sex and gender, if it ever existed, is over. In the course of this national discussion, many Gender Critical people – overwhelmingly women – have been the subject of personal abuse, threats, the loss of jobs and livelihoods and even physical assault. This has been referred to as occurring on “both sides” of the discussion. But it is difficult to find evidence that equal apportionment has in fact occurred: overwhelmingly it appears that Gender Critical women have borne the brunt of it. Those women now have their legal protections affirmed at law.

Much of this vitriol has been inflicted on a false assumption that it is somehow liberal, progressive or enlightened to do so, and that it is justified because it is in furtherance of rights for trans people. The judgment is explicit that a rejection of Gender Theory – or even the questioning of it – is not in conflict with the legal rights of trans people.

Even organisations who do not consider themselves engaged in this debate need carefully to inspect their actions and policies to determine whether they have become institutionally discriminatory towards those who dissent from Gender Theory. The Scottish government has a range of policies, starting with the pending hate crime legislation, which need to reviewed. These catastrophisations arise from the reflex of defining people with whom we disagree as fundamentally immoral for not sharing our views. Sonia Sodha in the Observer wrote of the “naivety … of childishly dividing the world into goodies and baddies”. We are good because our values are good. Our opponents are bad because they do not have our values. Our opponents are thus immoral. Once we strip our opponents of any morality, we deny them of the right to be respected, and we can then impose any immoral act on them with immunity from any moral assessment of our actions. We excuse ourselves for awful things that we do.

This judgment, as fundamentally significant as it is for questions of sex and gender, is therefore perhaps of broader significance still. By potentially re-asserting the principles of protected speech and belief, by reminding us of the necessity for respect for those with whom we disagree, by removing the crutch of moral naivety and by denying the legitimacy of catastrophisations - perhaps this is a blueprint for applying 20th century human rights principles to 21st century political debate.

If Bardfinn is keeping a secret database of European GCs, while insisting that he supposedly has to do this because these people are fascists and Natsees (as Bardfinn has repeatedly argued in long posts saying that TERFs are indistinguishable from Natsees) just for being GC, he is now arguably committing defamation against all these people and violating their right to free speech by urging Reddit to ban them on the basis of the lie that GC speech is akin to a hate-crime. which it clearly isn't. If you go and look at my previous posts in this sub, you can find the post where I linked to Bardfinn's series of longass rants on Reddit where he explained that TERFs are indistinguishable from Neo-Nazis and that gender critical feminism is a, quote, "fascist white supremacist colonialist ideology". Do not trust Minds.com - they hijacked my account and refuse to let me re-register

Frustrated at the censorship on Wordpress, I decided to log into Minds.com and to start using my account there more actively. I had already registered with Minds.com months ago but had never wanted to use my account there until recently.

I tried logging into my Minds.com using my alias and password but to my surprise I got this error:

Needless to say I immediately requested a password reset confirmation e-mail, and according to Minds.com one should've been sent to my e-mail address...

... only, this reset e-mail was never actually sent to me. I waited literally for hours and nothing arrived. I tried many times over and no reset e-mail was sent to me.

I then tried to re-register at Minds.com under a new alias, but lo behold, Minds.com now refused to allow me to re-register under a new account. I literally couldn't even click on the button to register the new account.

Again, I had never used minds.com for anything at all prior to this moment. I never posted anything whatsoever and I never read any posts there whatsoever. I have no idea why they have decided to hijack my account in such a deceptive manner. They won't even just let me access my account just to delete it in order to protest. Is this a way for them to boost their user base while denying users the actual service promised?

Moral of the story: do not trust this Minds.com service that purports to be an alternative to other platforms. They will hijack your account for no reason and despite you not using it, lie about sending you a password reset when they refuse to grant you access, and refuse to allow you to re-register to complain or to just ask about what the hell is happening. I looked at their Help Desk page and there was no e-mail address there you can write to with questions. How typical.

Also, Tim Pool if you're reading this, I only registered with Minds.com because you said they were trustworthy.

Gender identity doesn’t exist.

I wish we lived in a society where gender didn't matter but unfortunately everyone is obsessed with their gender. I think it's because of narcissism and people being more visible and judgemental than ever. I don't believe feminininity or masculinity is inherent. I think people have behaviours that overtime became associated with the stereotypical man or woman because people found those behaviours useful or pleasant, so they stereotyped them.

Well, they are a radical feminist sub that was created in opposition to /r/GenderCritical who were banning them for being even more radical than the GC feminists themselves are, so of course they're going to censor people, that's what feminists do. Remember, they too are just another flavour of SJW so control of the public discourse and censorship is in their DNA. It's interesting though that you bring them up as an example because I had once looked them up myself on Reddit to see what they were about and IIRC they seemed to have their rules very clearly stated on their side bar. Makes me wonder, why don't they just copy-paste whatever they had on Reddit here, perhaps with some changes?

And they registered 75 usernames and aged them 2 weeks just for this. And then used a VPN and a different IP for every single user, so they had an automated system to switch accounts (like 20 per minute), and automatically switch IPs when changing accounts.

This is the League Trolls' MO. This is exactly how they target subs on Reddit itself. I swear, watch this video, this is how they do it. They are now doing the same thing here.

Oh, there is no doubt in my mind that he's some kind of pathological liar, just wait and see the rest of his claims that I and others tried to fact-check. I just wanted to be open to all possibilities. If there is a patent out there let's see it. I don't actually expect there to be one but who knows.
