If they can behave, why should we change our traditions? If this was a land designed for racial purity, we would have stopped at the english (unless the Jews were behind the waves of initial immigration too.) But you and OVG have valid concerns, namely, that we can't let people in who will act like lazy assholes or criminal degenerates. The situation with the jews is a hard one, as long as we can get them to disavow Israel status, it could work.
