Telegraph: 'Niche' transgender ideology 'corrosive' to society, says report by womenopausal in GenderCritical

I think people really are catching on. The polls done over "self ID" are really important. over 90% are against it, and I think that was before the dog-pile on JK Rowling. Banning GC is a sign of panic. But, to make a boxing analogy, a fighter who is losing, or whose legs are starting to wobble, is most dangerous because they know they need a knock out fast.

So are dudes allowed to participate here or is someone going to make another GC guys sub? by TheSeventhSense in GenderCritical

[–]FlippyKing 22 insightful - 2 fun22 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I intend to make a sub along the lines of GC Guys as soon as I get past my two weeks here. We can't create a new sub until we've been here two weeks. I've been here a day.

I would not see the idea that they didn't ban GC Guys as only reflecting male privilege. I think it is at best a manipulation of this concept of privilege by those in power. Not banning the guys sub is meant to create further divisions between us. Guys who left reddit in solidarity over the GC purge are taking NOT that bait. One can argue if we are just too full for that bait or not.

It is similar to the white privilege working class whites have when compared to working class blacks. It is not a favoritism showed to white workers, it is a manipulation meant to break solidarity. Much of what we know about the "Red Scare" focuses on hollywood and screen writers, but the real target was communist party affiliated union organizers. The red scare was the worst thing to happen to the left (as in actual left) and to the working class in the US. The vacuum it created was filled by the mob. Much of the racism attributed to unions can be laid squarely at the mob's, and management's, feet.

Similarly, Silvia Federici documents clearly how the lower classes had their ways of making a living taken from them during the primative accumulation phase of capitalism, and in that process women were stripped of their economic activities and of everything else they had. The witch burnings were about breaking the will of women, their children, especially their daughters, and their communities. That guys went along with it, or over time just accepted the new order, is maybe the worst thing in western history because it bifurcated us.

Leaving Reddit over the GC banning is not much of a gesture in opposition to the divisions between men and women that were created and maintained since then. Maybe something better and real will start. It won't start staying there if for no other reason then it just leaves women twisting in the wind again. I obviously don't have answers, and I don't pretend to be solving anything, and I'm not virtue signally. I'm simply stating that I intend to start a GC sub, guys or open to both sexes, once I'm able.

But, lets not see the guys getting to keep their stupid little bit of reddit as anything other than manipulation and a desperate act of divisiveness performed by people who must have seen the poll results over "Self ID", where over 90% of the population is against it. Dividing us, or keeping us divided, is their goal. It does not have to be ours-- which is not to say women do not need single-sex spaces to themselves. But the ban just happened, we'll be off your couch soon, job or no job.

Someone here on Saidit is saying one issue to oppose this is to raise the issue that right as this Dr Levine was forcing covid patients into nursing homes Dr Levine took his own mother out of a nursing home and put his mother into a hotel. First off, I sort of think there's something immoral about sticking your parents into nursing homes, especially if one is a doctor and can afford help and knows enough to help with their care. But then to force everyone into what you then take your mother out of is really duplicitous or something, and the icing on the cake is that Dr Levine did not take his mother home but stuck her in a hotel. Can you feel the love in that family? If so, slap that hand a way fast because that's not love. It's probably groping.

How'd it get banned? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]FlippyKing 21 insightful - 3 fun21 insightful - 2 fun22 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

It and all the other related subs were obstacles to their social engineering. Rowling's sanity attracted far too many people to these views, and the tide was obviously turning. "Die terf die" was losing it's power as a compelling argument, so banning and deleting subs without warning or quarantine was their only option.

Preemptively addressing the "but how much worse would her symptoms have been if she had not been triple-vaxxed" tact because it is silly and untestable. Severity of symptoms reported by patients is entirely subjective. Being told to get vaxxed and doing it THREE TIMES already indicates someone who will go along to get along. Such a person (assuming this is all not just scripted theater for the masses) is almost guaranteed to accept the notion that what ever their symptoms were that they would have been worse than had they not been jabbed three times in such a ridiculously short period of time.

As Lavalanche17 points out, people who "Identify" as women rule in tech. People born into it on the other hand do not. The commercial is actual an advance in the war on women in that it is not "identify as women" but as female so amazon is helping them take that word away now.

I was really hoping to see their answers to this. It's like team QT only responds when shamed into it.

I suspect the publicly disseminated rationalization we're expected to believe is "we'll kill ourselves if everyone does not play along". And, I believe the the actual answer is because without everyone cheering them on in the lie, they find it more difficult to keep the act up.

As you describe, you are not acting. When people misread you, it is not an existential crisis. But for those who wrap their existence in a lie as a form of a shell, it is. I think it is the same dynamic when abuse of power is called out. Those who wrap their position of power around themselves as if it is who they are, and hiding their real selves, will not take to kindly to people confronting them in any way.

So, we all "out" ourselves when we enter the bathroom. There can be no other way, unless you get your supposed wish and make every business build god-knows how many bathrooms. For a gym that fits one hundred people: how many separate facilities should they build?

Men are monsters and women are "capable" of empathy: sexist assumptions upon which gender is built by QT and by misogynists who want to keep women down. Every time I walk into a bathroom, I have to check to see if I think I'm going to get mugged, as I grew up in a violent city with a lot of crime. Fearing the mens room does not mean any one can then use the women's room. A adult gym locker room is not a violent place. Your perception of it is your perception. Using the women's room because they can't stop you and they can't beat you up has nothing to do with the empathy you imagine.

feminism isn't just one thing, and like anything what it is probably isn't what it is represented as. Like anything the most easily found versions of it and the ones that seem everywhere are probably misrepresentations of what it is at its core. This is probably true for a lot of things you might be part of. I know the things I believe or the labels I feel an affinity for are grossly misrepresented even by people who loudly claim the label. They're "toxic mimics" usually (check out Derrick Jensen's youtube video on toxic mimics). I think with so many people migrating here from reddit, we should consider taking each other in at face value and ignore the labels. Socrates always started from a point of agreement, and I think we can do that on anything.

no amount of indecent exposure is acceptable. Your sexed body matters in public. it is your body that everyone identifies you as because that is what is see-able and knowable. what claims are made about some internal sense of a supposedly gendered identity only matter to the person who has some internal sense of their supposedly gendered identity.

How is this even a question? Who gives a fuck about what someone thinks they are or says they are? One's sense of their own identity is a lie some people make up to explain to themselves how they fit into the world. the more one clings to an identity instead of adapting to the physical world they live in and accepting physical reality and the language that describes (including adult human male and adult human female as definitions for man and woman which are the two and only two sex categories used in reproduction, and the social construct of gender having nothing what so ever to do with any of it), the more they experience cognitive dissonance. The idea that woman or man is an identity and not a body type is just simply a stupid idea and it is too often used by predators.

The Wi Spa shows there can be no public policy that protects privacy rights of women and little girls that also allows for predators to lie about their "Gender". Gender has no place in public policy, and it should not replace sex as a basis for legal identification. Team QT can celebrate, the law will side with you and continue creating hell on earth-- but hey you can get all the erections gender euphoria metaphorical and literal rocks off all you want.

You do not understand science, and you are pretending tumblr is something anyone looking for real information would click on.

People say things, often false. That' covers all your tumbr links because there is no reason to think any of them are "authoritative".

Science journalism was NEVER any good, but it is a joke now. Nothing in Forbes or NYT is worth reading for anything other than the link or name of the study they are citing if it sounds interesting. But, if you read it critically, you will always be disappointed.

The article about Bees should disappoint you. It has nothing to do with humans, nor at all analogous to our means of SEXUAL reproduction.

You caught two very important in the source for the Forbes thing: "We propose ... . This is the first report ...". I skipped over the pointless part, because "we propose" is the important part of that sentence. They did not show, they did not prove, they proposed a possible explanation. OK, and explanation of what? Something of which this is the first report.

Science works as a method of inquiry when it is transparent allowing other researchers to reproduce the results. That rarely happens, what instead happens in the best scenarios is people run similar experiments in good faith attempting to replicate what was done and similar results were found (in the best scenarios). Too often dissimilar experiments are run in bad faith, like when Linus Pauling's Vitamin C works was 'debunked', and the results are presented as if the experiemtn was done like the original was but the results are different. That's when any attempt to reproduce results is done. Too often it's not done. Sorry, but this bee thing does not seem credible and there are so many things that can go wrong that I just do not find it credible. It will take more than just reproducing the results, it will take a clearly explained mechanism that then will produce the same results consistently, before before I consider it credible. I suspect the mechanism will not have anything to do with anything you think it has. Because this has nothing to do with "trans".

Your other links are all BS. But, if you've convinced yourself, why bother trying to convince others? I suspect you know it is all BS, and you are trying to get people to indulge delusions. There is no way any of your links show anything discrediting the FACT that the human species reproduces sexually via the impregnating of a woman's large immobile gamete with a man's small mobile gamete.

None of the things about genes or brains says anything about people who have functioning genitalia being the other "gender" nor why any supposition about identities or lady-brained males matter to anyone else but the lady-brained males. Your identity is the fiction you tell yourself to make sense of your place in your social world, just like everyone else who feels they need an "identity". No one needs to be burdened by anyone else's fiction.

I've seen trans activists claim that a penis and a clitoris are the same thing, but the clitoris is an absolutely unique body part unlike anything on a man or any other part on a women because it is the only body part whose sole purpose is pleasure. A penis delivers pee and sperm, it has a purpose beside pleasure. Don't tell trans activists, and I hope they haven't read this far, but no one pees out a clitoris.

As for how a vagina is not a penis, well I fear anyone asking that question is probably a child and shouldn't be on the internet.

What does this mean: "Trans spaces force trans women to put themselves"; and how is it different than how a man uses the men's room because his body defines him as such or a woman uses the women's room because her body defines her as such? Why is it bad? Also, that is one hell of a sexist assumption that men are incapable of empathy and women are somehow more capable of it. What you're seeing is the adaptation of women as a coherent segment of our society adapting to the fact that they are the smaller and more at risk of male violence than men. Are you seeing empathy around this Wi Spa thing? When you don't see this womanly empathy, do you then write them off as right wing evil terfs, instead of equally women as the women you think you get empathy from? Very sexist assumptions you got there.

nice way to blame the victim! Who's leering? No one. That's an assumption or a projection on your part, and if you read the topic at the top of this thing, you'll see you are changing the subject from indecent exposure to some silly idea that people want to leer at a dude's junk or a trans person's junk in a locker room. In the video that set this all off, the woman talks about a man swinging his dick in front of little girls. No leering was mentioned, not until you tried to change the subject. In fact, 'trans' only comes up when people tried to excuse the creepy and probably criminal behavior. It would be criminal for a man to swing his dick around in a women's locker room in front of a little girl. Wondering if the person was trans is an attempt to justify the action. How the dick swinger identifies changes nothing about the action or the offense. But, no one was leering-- that's you're fictional addition to the issue.

You are creating the false dichotomy. You say you fear getting beat up, now killed, in a mens locker room. The false dichotomy is therefore you must use the womens room, when that is also inappropriate and this is not about your sense of safety but about voyerism and indecent exposure and a dude swinging his dick in front of little girls. You are making this topic about you when you should go back up and look at the topic title.

Ask for trans spaces, oh but that's not validating. Reality is not validating. How do you propose to keep creeps and liars out of women's spaces? I propose keep sex segregated spaces sex segregated. If you need a trans space, ask for it. Yesterdays riot was not about your safety, it was to shut up and intimidate women so that they accommodate creeps swinging their dicks around in little girls faces. If you think that is about you, then you are dangerous and should not be dealt with politely.

[–]FlippyKing 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

  1. We are not using the rest room that matches our gender, we are using the rest room that matches our sex. Bathrooms are segregated by SEX because they are where bodies perform bodily functions. Gender has nothing to do with it.

  2. That is one hell of a presumption you are making. Women can not do that. Men who 'blend in' do that. To the extent they do not blend in, all the things you list end up on the table. Sorry, it's human nature. If I walk through a Pride parade with a Terfs ARE A-OK tee shirt, I would experience than what you are listing.

  3. Why do you assume that? I've been called many things. I've been called bad variants on my name, and even misgendered. People with uncommon names experience it all the time.

  4. This is about your own assumptions, you currently have the right to not make those assumptions. No one cares about your sense of identity or expression the way you do. How you dress does create impressions, this is true for all people not just you. It's called growing up. I won't wear a death to capitalists tee shirt on a job interview, and if I do I won't have odd suspicions about why they didn't hire me. If people think you look like you are not to be trusted any of the three things you mention in 4, that is on them and you. Conformity exists in trans circles just as it does in other circles.

  5. The cotton ceiling-- classy. You will be rejected for biological reasons, every time just as everyone else is. Blonde haired blue eyed guys will get make it with women who like tall dark and handsome types, or 'latinos' or Italian guys. Some women like muscles, some don't. Some guys don't like women above or below a certain height. Some women dis like dick. Some women don't want to be with an amputee. Same with some guys. What ever, grow up and deal with it. If you want to be with someone who does not want to be with you then maybe you are not seeing them as an equal and independent person with their own rights and their own freedom and their own strengths and weaknesses. Try respecting the person you want to fuck instead of want to fuck someone regardless of if you respect them. When you meet someone who does not want to fuck you, move on. To blame the cotton ceiling is rapey.

  6. Your gender might prevent you from receiving the proper medical care. Women and men, as defined by sex not gender, have very different medical needs and their symptoms and health problems are different. The extent to which trans people have their own unique medical needs is not understood. Women's medical needs have been ignored and are still largely ignored. Medicines are routinely approved with little sense of how women will react, and women have died too often before the problem was discovered. Emergency room medicine is always about saving the body from dying. Your gender is not part of any of your vital organs or involved in anything that matters to an emergency room doctor.

  7. Are you saying your identity is a dismorphia? Are you diagnosing yourself? Whose call is it to say if you have a mental pathology? Here's how I avoid getting a diagnosis I don't want: I don't go to doctors. Try it.

  8. That is an unfounded assumption. A white guy in a date, even a blind date, with an Asian woman is assumed to have that as a fetish. Anyone dating someone of another race is seen by some as having that as a thing, instead of seeing two unique adults who might like each other. Every one makes assumptions about everyone, it sucks. Here's an assumption I'm making about you: you're a "lesbian", a trans woman lesbian. I would hate for my assumption to be right, because I might keep right on making that assumption.

  9. Anyone who does not worry when they are placed in a detention center or any of those places is probably very dangerous. If it is sex-segregated, then you are placed in the right one and your sense if identity has nothing to do with it. Do you identify as guilty? If not then you are already in a place that is incongruent with your identity. Trans men suddenly become very open to the idea that they are in fact trans-identifying females but really females when they are placed in these situations, so it is safe to say the trans community is divided on this at least in practice anyway.

  10. You make another bad assumption here. What is a shared identity anyway? Anyone watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer identifies with all the characters at one time or another. We identified with Willow and Xander and everyone who had to fight the monsters when Buffy was dead. We then identified with Buffy when we learned out miserable she was, during the singing episode, for having been brought back. If you can't identify with some fictional character, it is badly written.

  11. Hollywood accurately dipicts NOTHING. Everyone is a puchline of a joke, and they should be. Look at 1950s tv comedies. At the height of patriarchy, who were the bumbling idiots in every sitcom: guys, with the exception of I Love Lucy and that show turns out to be still among the best ever made. Here's a joke I heard the other day: Why don't Sicilians like Jehovah's Witnesses? They don't like any witnesses. Ha, a mafia joke. I don't think I have heard a mafia joke in decades. Irish jokes, Polish jokes, dumb blonde jokes, jokes about jocks being idiots: all fair game. You want acceptance like those groups?

  12. stop conflating sex and gender.

When were we friends? When unreasonable demands were not made of people we may have been polite acquaintances at best. When someone's imagined or presumed inner identity of some "gender" that imitates (or is a toxic mimic of) sex or sexist stereotypes, is expected to be indulged by others around that person, there are no friends in that equation, only: manipulators, manipulated, or resisters.

I didn't click on the link because I've seen these kinds of arguments before multiple times and I don't think there is anything new that can be added to their side of the argument. The first bullet point you provide I think is enough: "The examination of the brains of six 'Transwomen' who were postmortem and how an area of their brain was closer to that of a woman." What meaning we draw from this data, assuming the data stands up and is reproducible and that anyone else looking at these six brains would see what is claimed (I doubt it actually), should be very limited. Six brains is not a lot to go on, so at best the only conclusion one could draw is the often seen "more research is needed". But, one area of their brains makes me want to look at the brains as a whole and see if there are more areas that correlate to their sex, and if those correlations are stronger than the closeness to women's brains claimed. Also, how much variation is there in women and men and in these six brains in those areas singled out by the authors?

Now, if all these hurdles are cleared, what is left? Does this constitute a new and more accurate way of figuring out who is a woman and who is a man? What makes these parts of the brain "gendered" or sexed in away that ignores chromosomes such that genitals and gamates and the manner in which the body was designed for reproduction are less accurate in saying what a man or woman is?

What does it mean to say these six transwomen are more like women in these areas of the brain? It is obviously starting with the conclusion, because you can not draw their conclusion just looking at the claims made about the data. If this were the 1950s, would a male chef's brain be more like a woman's because both are stuck in the kitchen? Or, conversely was Julia Child the first Transman because she was a chef and not 'just' cooking for the family? Musicians brains are different than non-musicians: what does that make them? All these brain arguments are weak before we deal with the elasticity of the brain.

Oh no, not conditional allyship by Chunkeeguy in GenderCritical

[–]FlippyKing 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's not "conditional allyship" that is in play here, it is if people accept unconditionally the idea that someone can declare themselves into man- or womanhood. By not arguing the reality of the matter but arguing the state of allyship that is indicated by refering a rapist of one's own mother by their actual sex and not their claimed gender, the TRAs are attempting to enforce discipline, and the doctrine of no debate no discussion, on their allies sad pathetic dupes.

I suspect most people who accept claims of a trans identity at face value, ie "allies", do so until the "good fences make good neighbors" idea is breached. Women don't rape their mothers. Very few, very extremely messed up, men might.

To "revoke" this dudes' woman card is the right of anyone who uses pronouns because, as it turns out, they are the pronouns of the person using them and not of the person they are applied to. This is a simple matter of fact.

The pronouns I use in talking about someone else are my pronouns, and not theirs, just as any slurs I might utter about someone are mine and not theirs. My statements are mine. That is the reality even if no one wants to admit it, and that error is a major underpinning of trans ideology even if tras do not want to admit that trans ideology exists. The idea that a person is what they claim they are with no exceptions is an ideology, and only an ideology I suspect. I don't care if it is queer theory that says this, "identity politics" that says it or anything else, it is a flaw or a fallacy no matter what idiot came up with it.

I guess by denying the existence of trans ideology they are attempting to force discussion of their mental illnesses into the area of whether or not "trans people" exist in reality.

Would 'Laurel' Hubbard really throw the Olympics on purpose? by Rial in GenderCritical

[–]FlippyKing 11 insightful - 3 fun11 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

The son of a billionaire who has no need for any of the fame or the glory would just as easily throw a game as they would womanhood claim. (pardon my attempt at making a rhyme)

I don't know too much about what L. Man Hubbard did, but Hubbard did compete as a man, so there is no possibility of suddenly forgetting good form or any of that. I don't think the athlete sets the weight they lift or if they are allowed to change the weight on subsequent attempts, but if they do set their own weight on their initial lifts then it is possible to pick a weight too high for a first lift as there are a lot of factors-- all of which Hubby (ha, a shortened form of the word husband as in man) is well aware of and experienced enough to avoid. Comparing what the hubbster has lifted in the past and what will be lifted in any future competitions will also give a hint towards any chicanery going on.

I know one tiny thing, which may not apply to the olympics or to every weight or power lifting event. In listening to Mark Rippetoe talk about trans and about male and female athletes, he mentioned his own experience training a woman weight lifter or power lifter. Their are formulas (or a formula) for how mush weight to increase from lift to lift, and based on how a lifter's first lift goes, the coach and athlete figure what to attempt going forward. He had no experience coaching women before this. His recommendation for her lead to failure because she could not make the lifts she attempted after the first one. He since learned that women can lift for more reps a weight very close to the maximum amount they can lift for one rep than men. Or, put another way, a woman's max for one rep is much close in weight to what they can do for 2 reps or 3 than a man. He saw the woman he was working with lift a weight, she expressed how she felt she could have got a few more reps out of it or something, and he gave her a weight to attempt on the second lift based on his work with men. The increase was too much. He since has altered the way he trains women and has found better success.

I've mentioned his youtube videos/podcasts about the trans athletes issue a couple of times, but with the Olympics going on now, it's worth mentioning again-- though I don't have the links handy. Any search will come up with them easily, "Rippetoe Trans atheletes" or Rippetoe Male Female differnces" should get the two videos pretty easily.

You are sexist, you make sexist assumptions about both men and women. You can't make up fake rules about not being able to be sexist against men, because sexism hems in men and women equally into their own pens. Trans people look at the pen they are not hemmed into according to their birth sex and somehow (editing the next part of this sentence to be more accurate) imagine they belong realize they would rather be in in the other pen, either to hide from being confronted with the reality of their inadequacy or to be predators of the AGP or other varieties, instead of realizing the pens are the problem. You are making shit up about mens locker rooms. You only feel safe in women's locker rooms because you have the same advantage over them that you fear, that makes you bullies. I think there are at least three questions. How can an unprovable "identity", that only requires a claim of such an identity be made, be tested in court? If the court must accept the idea that there is a gendered identity and that laws protect those who claim to have it, what does this do about the long-standing sex-based rights based on the material reality that is our two and only two sexes where one's capability of getting pregnant remains a source of oppression and relative unfairness towards them in society? Is the class of person recognized as women due to their reproductive capacity protected and allowed bodily autonomy and privacy from the other class of person recognized as men due to their reproductive functionality and are those protections mitigated by an unprovable claim of a gendered identity?

I'm of the opinion that the pervert is guilty, depending it being the right person in question and that they did what was said. He is probably a liar in addition to being a pervert. I would like for them to all just stop lying, and maybe eventually that will lead to those lying to themselves about all this nonsense to stop lying to themselves about all this nonsense.

A variation on Powerlifting called Strengthlifting is a sport that recognizes three divisions: Open, Women (and they specify congenital female), and "masters" who are 40 or older. The athletes compete in the Squat, Overhead Press, and Deadlift. It is like powerlifting but swaps the bench press for a strict press from a standing position. The clean and press was removed from the olympics because it was too easy to lean back and turn it into a bench press. The form used in this sport is very strict so they solved the problem that the Olympics didn't.

It is not a very big sport yet, but I hope it grows.

Disclose. Why? To prevent problems later. If it is a "date" then while it is being planned.

It is a violation of trust to not disclose. All the talk about trans people not wanting to "out" themselves really means they operate in a deceptive mode much of the time. Dating and romance and all that is no place for that kind of deception. No amount of rationalizing or bad comparisons (your next question) will change that.

It is obviously safer to disclose and be up front from the earliest possible point. Anyone who reacts badly before the first date will only react worse if disclosure happens later. That is obvious to anyone who isn't trying to self-sabotage themselves.

Do you really think women in a locker room are being voyeurs when a guy is swinging his dick around in the women's locker room? A voyeur sneeks around staring at people, behind bushes, though holes in walls or floors, with cameras set up, or a guy hiding behind the fake facade of "I'm a woman" in the women's locker room. The women who, in shock, see a dude swinging his dick around in their locker room are not voyuers. You are flipping the definition around. They are victims, and they are seeing a train wreck except that train wreck in the Wi Spa thing was exposing itself indecently to a little girl. Team QT Team Pedophile you have no leg to stand on here.

No one was leering at the guy swinging his dick around in the Wi Spa, the voyeurism that is worth talking about is the men going into women's locker rooms pretending to be women like it's a free strip club and getting off on it emotionally and more-- which then escalates into exhibitionism like pathetic dudes swinging their dicks around in front of little girls. It's all a bunch of sad neglected pathetic guys with no guidance in their lives acting out their cries for help that escalate until society find the annoyance unbearable. We're almost there. And you know it.

You the only one talking about leering, you are trying to change the subject. Should every supposition of leering be accepted as factual even when no such supposition was made? How do you define leering? Regardless, you're talking about it, I'm not, no one here is, you are changing the subject away from a man swinging his dick in front of a little girl in a locker room, only presumed to be a trans woman to excuse the action of swinging a dick around in front of a little girl in a locker room.

Why go into a locker to remain covered? But I thought you wanted single occupancy spaces? Why are you talking about what pre op trans women (which is the vast majority) do in women's locker room, when you should be advocating for what you say you advocate for?

I think it is time to call that bluff. They need to define: woman, man, trans, gender, and describe sexual reproduction, and explain how any of that negates the realities of sex and our being a sexual dimorphic species, before anyone can affirm the existence of trans people. We will find that "trans allies" will turn out to be like Bari Weiss using the word "toady". Arthur Schoppenhaur (I'm not going to try to spell that letter-salad of a name correctly) warned against teaching kids to use words they could not define. Adults need to learn that lesson now.

I think you give the static electricity that created that account too much credit. To leap form a semi-reasonable idea about categories and language, that as used by people reflects potentially unshared assumptions about definitions and unshared assumptions about how the world works along with limits on knowledge, to the idea that some words we use do not point to real and uniquely discernible things in the real word, or to the idea that there is no real word, is just babyish. These people must be spoon fed food and pretend some how that they endure. But this account we speak of takes it further by imposing their own fiction to replace what would be observable. Sex is real. Even plants have two and only two sexes, even self pollinating plants like corn. Let the non-binary people identify as a can of corn.

so you're using the term to define the term and you're using cirular logic, and your'e doing it all to avoid the well established definition for woman: Adult human female. The term as defined there works fine.

Some evidence that some men can have "women's" brain by Kai_Decadence in GenderCritical

[–]FlippyKing 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's a silly idea. Is it possible to find such similarities in brains between tims and actual women but not between other groups of men and actual women, such that this becomes a defining characteristic of what a woman is, and such that the genitals and reproductive function of their bodies will somehow not be the defining characteristic? Brains are very elastic, consider what brains of musicians or monks compared to the general population, and epigenetics shows that so much about the insides of our bodies can be changed. To make "man" and "woman" anything other than reproductive categories of people is just silly. These are not "identities", but physical realities.

none of that has anything to do with actual leftist. If we let them change what "left" means, the way the are doing to the work "woman" and why said it is suddenly home to a bunch of feminist women, then we lose the ability to really see what is going on and we let them divide us.

"Left" only makes sense politically and historically as the political expression of the working class. The left were luddites, wobblies, trade unionists. They were reacting against horrible working conditions, child labor, and the fact that over the span of a few hundred years they had lost all ability to just make a living off the land they were on and had held "in common" ie the commons.

The left then were joined in a sense by some in the middle class who looked at the disparity in their own societies, the wealth enjoyed by their peers and the squalor suffered by those who physically created it through work, and came up with schools of thought in reaction against capitalism and liberalism (which go hand in hand). Liberalism may appear to be about freedom to do what you want, but it was and remains about freedoms that were created when massive amounts of wealth were accumulated, and the new class of rich people wanted the same freedoms enjoyed by the old nobility.

Those were the sides back then, and they still are the sides. Identity politics is just the new expression of the same old BS.

The idea that banks are run by "the left" is laughable. No billionaire is on the left. They might be as liberal as the old robber barons and their children, nephews, nieces, and grand kids, but it is a rewriting of history to pretend that is or was ever "left".

The "alt right" looks to me like the first wave the "left" over a similar transformation of the global economy. When agriculture and subsistence was replaced by industrial capitalism, the "left" was born. Now that globalization has shifted manufacturing far away and automation is eliminating the need for most labor, the alt right seems to be in the same role. The difference is that we have a history of analysis and data to look at, and a history of struggle from Bakunin to Fred Hampton to learn from. TO distance the working classes from that history of struggle, the false divide of left and right is created and along with it the ridiculous notion that there are left-wing billionaires.

I'm glad more and more people are seeing the divide and conquer thing for what it is.

I think the labels do not really matter. What matters is if we engage with each other honestly, addressing real tangible things and speaking from our own experience and knowledge. I have a feeling I'm going to say this a thousand times over the next couple of days, but as people like me migrate over from reddit as refuges, let's take it as an opportunity to realize it is the same divisive BS that has us all here: start from a place of agreement, the way Socrates does in Plato's dialogues. We are not separate, and we shouldn't be divided. We do not have to accept the way any media out let or media personality frames an issue. If we speak of real things and from our own experience, we will end up agreeing far more often than those who want us divided could ever imagine.

Not to be overly picky, but I think the phrase "biological sex" is already a compromise too far with TRAs. It's what sex a person is and it is real, unlike their psychological sense of some gender that is not real and not observable. So: "psychological sense of some gender" is probably a better phrase that "gender identity" which makes a lie seem too real.

You can use words, like you did above. That's better, I think, than labeling something. Most likely you would not think everything is "disinfo", so pinning down where departures from agreement starts is probably more useful. That's how Socrates did it!

Also, you move the goal post. You're title is about disagreement, but you want a label for what you think is "disinfo". You can get that on youtube or facebook or probably twitter or reddit (I'm guessing, I only look at youtube of those 4)

What is "Disinfo"? The question brings me back to what I asked above, because such a label obscures what is potentially incorrect. Everything can't be incorrect, and if some wrong thing could ruin or render useless some bit of reading or a video, then we would have to throw out all of the scientific literature in the world because there are mistakes and bad assumptions and faulty data and all sorts of things in either every paper or in the papers they cite. Many papers start with incorrect statements in their introductions, but you keep reading and deal with what they did and how they did it and assess that before even considering their conclusions. Obviously they can't get conclusions right if their methods are bad or data flawed, but they can (and often do) have good data and good methods and crap for conclusions. Often they add in sentences into their conclusions that have nothing to do with their work. That used to be frowned upon, but funders of studies can't keep their hands or pens or word processing software out of the papers they paid for.

Should you label this as "disinfo"?
