Yeah I can see what your saying from just that article. Their conclusion was entirely pedantic, and just revealed more problems. It's sad people won't read father than the first couple sentences and think for themselves, but I guess that's the problem we're having these days.

I understand that, but they're providing sources to what they're saying, in this instance. If someone here gave you links and sources backing up what they're saying, I'm guessing you'd believe them also.

Even so, you have to read what they're saying, and do your own thinking. That's why I realized that they weren't exactly telling the truth when put beside what their sources were saying.

No one said they're an 'oracle', I'm not sure where you got that from. Did you stop in the middle of the sentence when you saw the word Snopes?

They did however gather info and have sources for it, which is why I said that Snopes was being pedantic when they said that was wrong.

California is already teaching pedophilia as a "sexual orientation".

Had to look it up. Snopes says it's wrong, but if you keep reading it becomes obvious that it was only wrong pedantically..

Apparently they weren't exactly teaching it as an orientation, but it was extremely inappropriate for school. The bullet point was:

“The practice of pederasty (an older upper class man would make a young free boy his partner and become his mentor) is mentioned in Homer’s Iliad [the Ancient Greek epic poem], and is evidenced to have existed at least 4500 years ago in ancient Egypt.”

Although it might be okay to include in college level academics, it's insane to teach this to kids. It's like planting a seed in a forest and leaving. I don't think pedophelia will ever been normalized. Being able to easily blackmail those in power is too valuable.

And while I don't give a shit what people do to themselves (trans/gay-wise, not pedo), they need to keep it out of the curriculum. And from everything I've ever seen lgbtq doesn't want to be seen anywhere near pedos, do you have any links/evidence that they're advocating for them?

The sub, or this specific thread?

I don't think the sub is, but it would seem that this thread is.

Either way, it wasn't specifically stated so I wouldn't mind hearing how it is outside the US!

Probably seasonal at Target when I was a kid. Had a crap manager that let the senior/full-time workers do whatever they wanted, and blamed me for the mistakes. The guy that worked the electronics desk before me would forget to hang the phone back up so the battery died, and he would leave the place a total mess. So then the manager would come up at the beginning of my shift when I was already swamped and give me shit for it. I also was in the electronics/toy section so that was an absolute nightmare during xmas time.

Good thing is that it gave me some empathy for retail workers. If my girlfriend or I decide we don't want something we don't just throw it on a random shelf, I walk that shit back to where we got it from.

Within 1 hour, Reddit banned 2000 subs-almost all right wing, Twitch banned Trump's account, Youtube banned Stefan Molyneux, Twitter banned Sidney Powell, and the MSM all had long ass articles ready to go to praise it. The exodus from reddit was caused by politics, so I imagine it's going to be heavy with politics for a while. At least it's both sides of the political spectrum, though.

It could be defined in the rules, strictly following the debate pyramid or something. As long as the mod's aren't giving vague definitions of rules. I imagine it would require a great deal of oversight as it get bigger, though.

Idk, it just sounds like your religious friends are just shitty people. I'm sure you've heard it before, but not all religious people are preachy like that.

But all types of groups are turning up the heat on their beliefs now-a-days. The world is becoming extremely black and white lately, pun not intended.

This is how I feel about 'autistic'. I'm on the spectrum and I don't really care if people use it as a pejorative term. I think most people who use the word know autistic people don't (all) behave in that preconceived way, so why take offense to it? I also just don't care what people think or say, which is kind of a pro/con of the tism

This is one of the main hurdles I'm seeing. The prejudice people that could have their minds changed by forming relationships and being educated are just being shouted at, insulted, and attacked. It's only going to make them dig their heels in and fuel their hatred for those groups. It's also going to drive them underground and then we'll have secret racists/homophobes/whatever that will be prejudice in ways that are harder to overcome. Things like systematic racism or passing bills that don't allow certain groups to do certain things, indirectly.

People see those prejudice people getting 'cancelled' and think that's going to stop prejudice, but it's just making it worse.

They only have to realize that God isn't dead. We might not be able to determine the future of mankind, but you can determine the future of your soul.

A stoic passage I like from Marcus Aurelius's Meditations:

If there are gods, you have no reason to fear your flight from the land of the living, for they will not let any harm come to you; and if there are no gods, or they are indifferent to the affairs of men, why wish to go on living in a world without them or without their guidance and care? But in fact, there are gods, and they do care about men, and they have made it possible for men to guard themselves against what is truly evil. Were there any evil in what awaits us, they would have given us the means of avoiding it.

The most ridiculous ones I remember seeing were posts linking charities and places to donate getting a ton of gold(s). Like they'd rather give reddit money than any charity.
