The whole point of a stoning as opposed to any other means of execution is that it can't really be said who threw the fatal stone, thus absolving the whole crowd of the sin and crime of murder, at least in theory. I got the impression that they were drawing it out on purpose to "teach a lesson" with the throws to the back. If they wanted it done faster they could bury them up to their neck to make for a smaller, more vulnerable target. Although to be fair, rocks are pretty heavy and they aren't the easiest thing to throw.

Yes, this is the result of a land dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Basically, the Nagorno-Karabakh region has an ethnic Armenian majority and has historically been under Armenian control or influence, but it's legally recognized internationally as belonging to Azerbaijan due to some complicated Soviet fuckery. In '94, the two countries fought a conflict over this same region resulting in Armenian forces capturing this region and some other bits of Azerbaijani land. A ceasefire was negotiated and things stayed mostly quiet for awhile, but Armenia was still exerting sovereignty over the captured areas. A peaceful solution perhaps seemed like a possibility in a few years, but current Armenian leadership has taken a hard stance on the matter, which the Azerbaijani leadership doesn't like. On September 27th, Armenia declared martial law in the region, claiming Azerbaijan had launched a military operation against them. This whole situation has kind of reignited the stalled conflict and that's what we're seeing here, with Armenia attempting to fully reclaim what was theirs for so long and Azerbaijan trying to regain control of lands that are legally within their borders.

Right, literally no other way this could have been handled. FFS, in the moment just before he's shot, there was plenty of time to at least try tasing, pepper spray, or other means on him first. Things were not out of control at that moment in time; the cop had successfully pushed him back and got some space between them with just a baton, his partner came to back him up, and the guy with a chain was standing still several feet away. There's no way the situation would have unfolded like you describe if there was another cop on the scene, which there was. Shit like this is justifiably why people don't like cops, they always resort to lethal force whenever they feel even slightly threatened. We saw for ourselves that a simple baton was proving pretty effective. With another cop, getting control of the guy to make an arrest shouldn't have been very difficult.

You said yourself that the chain itself wasn't the real threat here, it's that the victim might have tried to go for the cop's gun, but that applies in literally every situation. You aren't describing the danger of encountering someone with a chain, you're describing the dangerous nature of police work. It's exactly what they knowingly signed on for. Even when the threat is not readily lethal and other methods would likely be just as effective, plus not result in anyone's death, cops still reach for their gun without a second thought. You'd think supposedly trained professionals would have a little bit more finesse and expertise. Why should we let cops be judge, jury, and executioner for crimes that wouldn't normally carry a death sentence if they actually did their jobs right?

What the fuck was going on here? This shit is crazy, I feel like I'd have to watch a dozen times to get it all. There were so many people involved doing different things. To our blind readers, this is the best I can do to describe it.

Guy 1 tries to stop guy 2 from shooting guy 3. Guy 2 fatally shoots guy 3, guy 4 grabs guy 2, guy 1 attacks guy 4. Guy 5 joins from the street and attacks guy 2 and knocks over guy 1, at the same time, guy 6 joins in from inside the store and also attacks guy 4, then guy 7 runs up and joins in attacking guy 2. Guy 1 attacks guy 5 while guy 6 pushes away guys 5 and 7, guy 1 runs away, then guy 4 returns to pick up where 5 and 7 had left off on guy 2. Guy 8, who's just kinda been watching all this go down from the side, halfheartedly helps defend guy 2 for a sec before stopping. Guy 4 also gets pulled away and answers by kicking guy 6's ass, who walks away. Guy 4 goes to finish off guy 2 with beer bottles, while guys 5 and 7 tend to guy 3. Guy 6 returns with a sneaky chair strike on guy 4 and then immediately pussies out, trying to run and hide in a nearby car, but gets dragged out by guys 4, 5, and 7 before guy 4 returns the favor with the chair to guy 6. Everyone left standing walks and it's all over.

Glad I could make that more clear for you guys lmao. For real though, I usually don't like these kinds of mob justice fights, but it was kinda satisfying to watch the shooter get beaten down. I'm also not sure why those people felt compelled to defend the shooter so vehemently. Guy #1 seems like maybe he was his friend, so I kinda get that, but if my best bro randomly shot someone in a restaurant, I wouldn't start throwing punches at the first guy who tried to restrain him. The other couple dudes who jumped in to help the shooter were possibly total strangers, I'm not sure why they thought saving the shooter was a reason they needed to join a fight. I don't think I'd do jack shit if I saw this exact scenario go down and I knew the perp was in real peril.

Damn, I feel bad for the guy who threw the punch. They're just a bunch of teenagers, there's no way to have seen that coming. He'll carry that for life. Even fighting without headgear doesn't usually lead to an instant death like this. It was a good punch to the jaw, but certainly not something anyone would consider lethal. I can only wonder if maybe the guy had a brain aneurysm that ruptured from the punch. Having a seizure is consistent with this.

As for the guy who threw the punch, I can only imagine the guilt he must feel for killing someone who is presumably his friend. It kind of reminds me of a one-in-a-million freak accident kind of death that happened at another elementary school in my district when I was in third grade. I've only heard this story through second-hand accounts, so I don't know if the finer details are completely accurate. Basically, some kids were throwing around a football at recess and on one pass, it struck a kid in the chest with apparently perfect timing and placement and literally stopped his heart right then and there.

My best friend actually happens to have attended that school at the time it happened. She sat across from him in class and was on the field when he died. Her dad is a doctor and explained it to me, but I still find that a little hard to believe to be honest. She said that the guy who threw the football was actually kind of a bully to the kid who died. I later learned that the kid who threw the ball was a classmate in high school. I always wanted to ask him about it, but I didn't feel like I knew him well enough and from talking to his closest friends, they said it would be a bad idea even for them to bring up. I'm guessing he still carries at least some of that with him, even though it was an accident, but I haven't seen him in a number of years.

Also, don't do chest compressions on someone having a seizure lmao

You can kinda see him land shortly after the explosion in the background. He looks to be mostly intact, but you can really only see a blurry, out of focus silhouette for a couple frames before it hits the ground. I'm guessing the shreds raining down in the last couple seconds are probably bits of his clothing and maybe some stuff was knocked off the ceiling. An explosion strong enough to launch you into the ceiling and across the room is easily enough to dismember you though, so there's no knowing for sure exactly what happened without higher quality video or a news article. He basically took a giant cannon shot right to his face.

WWII bomber blown up by its own experimental bouncing "speedee" bomb at low altitude by ElonMuskOfficial in WatchPeopleDie

[–]ElonMuskOfficial[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I managed to find some info about this specific incident. Prior to this test, bouncing bombs had been successfully implemented to destroy German dams and a new, smaller bomb was in development for use in the Pacific against Japanese trade vessels. After this happened, the US military lost interest in the concept and the war would be won only a few months later.

The type of bomb was not the large ‘UPKEEP’ used so successfully by Lancaster bombers over the Rhur dams, but the smaller ‘HIGHBALL’, eventually dropped by the Mosquito. The ‘HIGHBALL’was designed to be used against Japanese shipping in the Pacific, but constant problems delayed the programme and these problems were not cured before the end of the war.

In January 1945, a USAAF A-26B Invader was adapted at the Vickers experimental facility at Foxwarren to carry two Highball inert weapons almost completely enclosed in the bomb bay, using parts from a Mosquito conversion. After brief flight testing in the UK, the kit was sent to Wright Field and installed in an A-26C Invader. Twenty-five inert Highball weapons, renamed "Speedee" bombs, were also sent for use in the USAAF trials. Drop tests were carried out over the sea near Eglin AFB, Florida.

On several drops, the A-26, which flew these experimental missions codenamed Speedee, was very low (under 10 feet) and on the 28th April 1945, the bomb hit the tail with fatal consequences, as can be seen below. American interest in the weapon then faded; there was only one converted A-26 Invader. The A-26 conversion was performed at the Vickers works at Weybridge.

Yeah, I thought it was really questionable when it seemed like random people were coming off the street to help lift it up. If a neighbor was trying to set up some power lines or something, I wouldn't get anywhere near it. Maybe those people just saw the crowd lifting a pole and didn't know about the cable.

I know you were joking, but the title is actually slightly misleading now that I read it again. The bomb bounces up and completely destroys the tail fins which causes the plane to crash as a result of instability and no time to react. You can see the undetonated bomb is still flying at the end before it's blocked by debris. I suppose in the end, the plane was blown up by the bomb, but not in the way most people would expect.

That's true. It wouldn't be as clean looking as lethal injection, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it'd be any more painful. Lethal injection has issues with drugs not always working as intended and can lead to a very painful, drawn-out death for one reason or another. People prefer it though because it looks peaceful even if it's sometimes not at all.

I think it's more that when they fail, they release all of their energy very rapidly. A large torsion spring could have hundreds or thousands of pounds of torque stored up and it all goes off like a gunshot. If you happen to be standing near it, you could catch some gnarly shrapnel going bullet speeds or if the device holding the spring in place (and therefore build tension) fails, you could have anything attached to the spring suddenly spinning at lethal speeds.

I remembered this from an old reddit post. A guy in the comments who claimed to be a technician for these kinds of doors said these springs fail after about 100,000 cycles. My guess is that these doors usually probably fail in some other way before this and the hardware gets replaced or the doors are supposed to be scheduled for regular maintenance and inspections. Plus, it just adds another layer of coincidence for someone to be standing directly under it when it fails.

Correct, the bouncing bomb was first invented by British aeronautical engineer Wallis Barnes to be skipped across water into stationary targets such as boats and dams. It was successfully used in the May 1943 Operation Chastise to blow a German dam. This method was necessary to avoid underwater obstacles like torpedo nets and conventional methods of bombing had been unsuccessful up until then.
